Tainan Yanshui-Octagonal Building (Old Stories and Old Street Scenes)
When you come to Yanshui, besides visiting pasta, you must visit the Octagonal Building. The ancient house, built entirely of wood in 1846, records the prosperity of history.
The building is private property, but the owner is very generous in displaying it to the outside world. In addition to the well-maintained historical monuments, the owner also displays some historical photos in the octagonal building. The attic mansion has an octagonal roof, so it is called the Octagonal Building.
There is an ancient well and a stone tablet in the front yard, which record the history of the Japanese occupation era. Although there are traces of time, when you walk in, you can't feel the dust. It is really well maintained.
The owner's surname is Ye. His ancestor was a fifth-rank official, so when you step into the building, you can find that the threshold is quite high. Later, he turned to business and the building became a famous commercial building in the local area. In addition to the Ye family’s self-introduction, there is also a sandbox of Yanshui’s ancient business, which simulates the topography of the time and is very precious.
Walking into the Octagonal Building is like walking into a historical space, exploring a story that is inadvertently remembered, and dreaming back to the historical events of the past.
