Winter Blessing Tour @Yichun Yangshan Qiyin Zen Temple
#WinterTravel
In Yichun, Jiangxi, there is an ancient temple that is seriously underestimated - Yangshan Qiyin Zen Temple. Built in the Tang Dynasty, this temple has a history of more than 1,000 years, and its name was inscribed by Emperor Xuanzong of Tang himself. Famous people from past dynasties such as Xin Qiji and Zhu Xi have visited this place. As the ancestral temple of the Weiyang School, the first of the five schools and seven sects of Zen, the Yangshan Qiyin Zen Temple, and the thoughts and relics of its founder, Master Huiji, occupy an important position in the entire Chinese Zen community.
The temple is located at the foot of Jiyun Peak of Yangshan Mountain in Mingyue Mountain. Jiyun Peak is the highest peak of Yangshan Mountain. After thousands of years of wind and rain, the temple has been repaired and destroyed many times. The existing building has been gradually rebuilt on the original site since 2006. Several thousand-year-old ginkgo trees planted in the temple bear witness to its long history.
Yangshan Qiyin Zen Temple is built on the mountain, and its architectural layout is like terraced fields. In ancient times, the people of Yangshan believed in the mountain god, and during the Jin Dynasty, there were great medical doctors who made elixirs on the mountain. Although the temple is not large, it has buildings such as the bell tower, drum tower, and main hall. It is an excellent place to pray and make wishes in winter.
As the most famous temple in Yichun, Jiangxi, friends who come to travel in winter should remember to come to Qiyin Temple for a winter blessing trip.
