Every year in May, we always spare a few days for a family trip and organise a special trip. This time, our family set out from Chengdu for a self-driving trip to the west of Xiaochuan. The usual two-person trip turned into a four-person trip to see the snowy mountains, lakes and grassland learning. We arrived at the most amazing place on the way, which is directly opposite the Yala Snow Mountain-The locals told us that if you want to see the Yala Snow Mountain, you can't enter the scenic spot. When you walk into the scenic spot, you can't see the snowy mountain. The observation deck on the way is the best place to see the snowy mountain. So we gave up entering the scenic spot and planned to go to the observation deck. We arrived at the Yala Snow Mountain Observation Deck at noon at noon. If you see such a snow mountain on this avenue, it will surely make you linger and dream about it—Yala Snow Mountain. It is the sacred mountain believed by the surrounding Tibetan people and monks. After many trips to Western Sichuan, each time I am greeted with different surprises: vast grasslands, emerald lakes, towering snow-capped mountains, a feast of rainbows, and the Milky Way in the sky. All these wonderful things can be fully appreciated in Garzê. I have compiled some of my favorite treasure spots for everyone. In just a weekend, you can check off many classic sights. With this guide in hand, head for the mountains and seas! 1️⃣ Tagong Grassland🏔️ 'Tagong' means 'a place the Bodhisattva likes', and every time I go to Western Sichuan, I enjoy my time on the Tagong Grassland, where I see Mount Yala in the shape of a lotus throne surrounded by petals. 2️⃣ Balang Shengdu🌇 This place is known as the secret realm of Garzê and is also known as the pasture closest to the sky. From the viewing platform, you can see Mount Gongga and Mount Yala 360 degrees, just like in Yuzixi. On a clear day, you can witness the sun shining on the golden mountain, and capturing a silhouette of the sunset is also very photogenic~ 3️⃣ Yajiang Tianlong Lake🌈🌈 This is not the Norwegian fjords, but Tianlong Lake in Yajiang County, Garzê Prefecture. The shape of the lake is very similar to a dragon and it originates from the celestial Yalong River, hence the name Tianlong Lake. I remember reaching the lake after passing through more than a dozen, nearly twenty tunnels, enduring a journey of wind and rain before it finally cleared up, and a double rainbow appeared in the sky, hanging over Tianlong Lake, reflecting beautifully with the lake and mountains. 4️⃣ Muya Monastery🏔️ The exact location of Muya Monastery is in Kangding City, Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, on Provincial Highway 215. Muya Monastery has the world's largest Mani stone pile and is known as the 'Little Sêrtar of Garzê'. There is no commercial atmosphere here yet, cattle and sheep roam freely, and you can gaze at Mount Yala from a distance, with different scenery throughout the four seasons. 5️⃣ Xinduqiao Gongga Snow Mountain Viewing Platform🌤 Every time I go to Xinduqiao, I hike to this viewing platform. What attracts me is not just the view of Mount Gongga, but the continuous meadows and colorful flowers, as if I've stumbled into the animated world of Hayao Miyazaki. 6️⃣ Yala Snow Mountain Viewing Platform🐼 The viewing platform is located on Panda Avenue in Daofu County. The journey along this road with its high mountains, canyons, streams, and snow-capped mountains is breathtaking. 7️⃣ Danba Tibetan Village🌲 Located in Danba County, Garzê Prefecture, in the western part of Sichuan, from afar, the spiritually vibrant valley is filled with emerald green grass and trees, heavy fields, and village houses hidden deep in the dense forest. Accompanied by the occasional babbling streams, a dynamic and exquisite mountain village painting unfolds before your eyes.

Yala Snow Mountain🏔️ is located at the junction of Kangding, Daofu, and Danba counties in Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan, with an altitude of 5884 meters. It is the second highest peak of the Daxueshan mountain range, facing the 'King of Shu Mountain' Gongga Mountain from afar. The mountain top is perennially covered with snow, often shrouded in clouds and mist, as if entering a fairyland.☁️ 🚗Transportation: Off-road/SUV (the entire route is unpaved) 🧭Navigation: Clouds Around Yala•Yala Snow Mountain Viewing Platform ‼️The navigation location is not the end point! There is no navigation for the latter half of the route! You need to drive about 20 kilometers of mountain dirt roads, where the signal is poor, so please download offline maps in advance ❌There are several places in the route that are easy to take the wrong turn: 1️⃣When ascending from Gerima Village into the back mountain dirt road, there are two uphill roads, both narrow and steep. One is a footpath, and taking the wrong one can easily lead to a rollover; the other is the correct vehicle road, pay attention to observe 2️⃣After the uphill, you will quickly need to enter the dirt road, be careful not to miss it! 3️⃣After about half an hour on the dirt road, you will reach a checkpoint where a sanitation cleanup fee of 25 yuan per person is collected. You can prepare cash in advance to avoid signal issues when paying by mobile phone! 4️⃣There is no navigation for the latter half of the journey, and you may really doubt if you have taken the wrong road, but seeing a road sign means you are close to the end! If the weather is still clear in the evening, you can see the sunlight on the golden mountain twice! Yes, you heard it right! Twice! The first time is before sunset to the horizon, the color changes from white to gold, and the second time is the afterglow of the sunset to the horizon, the color changes from gold to red! The specific sunset time can be checked with the Lumy app, which is very accurate!
