Perhaps because it's too close to Jiuzhaigou, many people directly overlook this attraction, so it's relatively less popular and the experience is better. I originally thought that Jiuzhaigou was already very beautiful, until I came to Huanglong, which was originally a place I didn't hold much hope for, but it actually gave me a sense of surprise. The Huanglong in late autumn is really a paradise lost in the world. Tips: 1. It takes about 6 hours to depart from Chengdu, and the road conditions are relatively good, just navigate directly to Huanglong Scenic Area. 2. The water volume is not very large now, but the low mountain area is the autumn color pool, and the high mountain area is the snow color pool. It's nice to experience two seasons in one day. 3. It is recommended to take the cable car up the mountain, and then walk down from the high mountain area, which will be easier. 4. I love this ancient city on the Tea Horse Road, full of life. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, you can find yak skewers for just 1 yuan each, and they taste pretty good. The market is lively and fun to explore, and the prices are reasonable. The yogurt blocks are delicious, and the noodles from Gansu are very chewy. This is a place I would choose to visit again. - 💁 Day Tour Itinerary: Songpan Station ➡️ Xuebaoding ➡️ Songzhou Ancient City Outbound: 🚄 Chengdu ➡️ Songpan 09:39–11:18 Return: 🚄 Songpan ➡️ Chengdu 17:59–19:52 - 🔸 Xuebaoding We took a taxi to Xuebaoding directly from the train station, as the Munigou Erdaohai Scenic Area is currently closed, and there is only the Zhaga Waterfall, with little snow, so we gave up. The snow is thick at Xuebaoding, and the blue sky, white clouds, and snow-capped mountains are beautiful, but the altitude is over 4,000 meters. It's not a good place to take kids to play in the snow, as it's very windy and cold, and it's easy to get altitude sickness. You get tired after just a few steps, and you can't stay up there for long. If you don't get altitude sickness, you can stay for the sunset 🌅, which is beautiful, but check the weather in advance, as you won't see it if the clouds are thick. . 🔸 Songzhou Ancient City It takes about an hour to drive from Xuebaoding to the ancient city, so you can allow more time for the ancient city. Songzhou Ancient City ➡️ High-speed train station, 5–6 minutes by taxi. - ⚠️ Tips: 🔸 If your itinerary is to go straight to Xuebaoding after getting off the high-speed train, it is recommended to get off at Jiuzhai Huanglong Station, which is closer than Songpan Station, and the taxi fare is cheaper. Xuebaoding is actually a pass on the old road to Huanglong, with strong winds and cold temperatures, but the snow is thick and the open space is clean and good for photos, but there is not much to do. Chengdu to Songpan 1.5-hour 🚄 Day Trip Guide (Lazy Traveler Edition) The recently popular Chengdu to Songpan day trip route is here! The high-speed train takes only 1.5 hours one way, which is very convenient. I went with my friends to see the first snow of December, and it was so much fun! - 🚄 Outbound: Chengdu East to Songpan 9:39–11:28 🚄 Return: Songpan to Chengdu East 21:20–22:55 🚗 Transportation: Bus, chartered car If you plan to travel on the weekend, it is best to book tickets one week in advance, as popular trains sell out quickly. There were four of us, and we chose to charter a car after arriving in Songpan. It cost CNY 400 in total, CNY 100 per person. The driver took us to all the attractions, waited for us outside, and then took us to the next attraction. Finally, he took us back to the ancient city. It was very convenient. Of course, you can also take the green bus, which costs CNY 20 per person one way, but it only goes to Munigou, not Xuebaoding. - 📍 Route: Xuebaoding > Munigou > Songpan Ancient City 1️⃣ Xuebaoding (Photos 2–8) A very niche attraction. It takes about 1 hour to drive from the train station. The altitude is about 4,100 meters. You can see endless snow-capped mountains on the way up, which are very beautiful. There is already thick snow on the top of the mountain, and there are few people, so it is a great place to take photos. This is my favorite attraction on this trip. 2️⃣ Munigou (Photos 9–14) Munigou is a must-see attraction in Songpan. There are relatively more people, and it is mainly for viewing waterfalls. The cedar trees and streams along the way are frozen. It only takes a few hundred meters to reach the top, and there are pavilions along the way for resting. Children can also climb up. 3️⃣ Songpan Ancient City (Photos 15–18) The ancient city is mainly a place for eating and drinking. First, have dozens of fresh beef skewers, which are very delicious. Then, have a local yak soup pot, which is fresh and warms the stomach. After eating and drinking, you can return home happily. - 📝 Friendly reminders: 1️⃣ The attractions are at a certain altitude, and some of my friends experienced altitude sickness. You can prepare some oxygen bottles in advance for emergencies. 2️⃣ The road to Xuebaoding is very slippery. When we went, the driver drove very slowly, but the car still slipped 360 degrees in one place. Be sure to prepare snow chains! 3️⃣ There are no convenience stores in the attractions, so you can bring some snacks and water.
