Returned from an unforgettable trip to Kunming, and it truly lives up to its nickname — the City of Eternal Spring. With its mild weather, breathtaking landscapes, and rich cultural heritage, Kunming offered the perfect blend of relaxation and exploration. Highlights of the Trip: 1) Western Hills (西山）& Dianchi Lake. The view from Dragon Gate was absolutely stunning. The cable car ride over the lake added a fun twist to the experience. 2) Stone Forest (Shilin - 石林): A must-visit! The towering limestone formations were like something out of a fantasy world. Walking through the maze-like paths was both surreal and awe-inspiring. 3) Shuangqiaocun Night Market (双桥村夜市) is situated in Guandu District. It is always crowded around the year. At the market, you could not only enjoy local food, 4) Zhuanxin Wet Market (篆新农贸市场).The place maintains a reputation as not only the largest but also the best destination for buying fresh meat, produce and nearly any other regional edible in the Spring City. 5) Local Cuisine: From crossing-the-bridge noodles to wild mushroom hotpots, the food was flavourful and comforting. #TravelChina Visit Xishan Mountain, Kunming City, beautiful nature. Start by buying a ticket and take the park bus up the mountain or if you have time, you can walk up. On the way, I saw many people walking up. Then you have to take the cable car to go up to the top of Xishan Mountain. The ride takes about 25 minutes. I recommend bringing a hat, umbrella, and sun protection. When you get off the cable car, you will walk up the stairs, along a rather steep and narrow mountain path. There are tunnels or caves. I have to say that the view is beautiful and magnificent. You can see the lake and Kunming City. I recommend walking slowly and not rushing because you might slip and fall. Wear non-slip shoes. June 10, 2024, Dragon Boat Festival, Qianbuyan in Xishan Mountain My first time climbing Qianbuyan in Xishan, the stone steps were built in the 13th year of the Ming Dynasty's Chongzhen era. The steps lead down to Longmen, totaling 1007 steps. After the rain, the ancient stone path appears from a distance with a somewhat washed-out, weathered elegance. The stone steps are slippery, but the air on this ancient path after a summer rain is extremely fresh, with an abundance of greenery filling the view. I take deep breaths, and then another. From the starting point of Qianbuyan to the entrance of the Xishan Scenic Area, one can enjoy views of Dianchi Lake and Caohai along the way. Following the main road to the subway station takes a total of 2.5 hours. I think it was a great experience I had in China during the Dragon Boat Festival. It’s amazing to understand the local culture and customs. I personally highly recommend you guys to attend this festival in the coming June if you have time and you are around in Kunming.
