The Wei-Jin Brick Mural Tomb is located in a new town about 18 kilometers east of Jiayuguan City. There are more than 1,000 ancient tombs of the Wei and Jin Dynasties distributed in an area of nearly 13 square kilometers. It is known as the "underground gallery". From 1972 to 1979, 18 tombs were excavated successively, of which 9 were portrait brick tombs and 9 were plain brick tombs. Among them, Tomb No. 5 was relocated to the Gansu Provincial Museum in May 1973. Currently only 6 and 7 are officially open to the public. Xincheng tombs have a unique architectural shape. The tombs are composed of tomb passages, tomb gates, gate towers, front rooms, middle rooms, back rooms, corridors, ear rooms, and niches. Building bricks are divided into printed square bricks, rectangular bricks, carved bricks, portrait bricks, etc. The gate of the tomb is made of bar-shaped bricks stacked in the shape of an arch. The roof of the tomb is made of bar-shaped bricks to form a gatehouse. The walls of the gatehouse are embedded with carved bricks in the shape of bucket arches, figures and animal heads. Mode. A total of more than 760 brick paintings were unearthed from the tomb, most of which were in the form of one brick and one painting, one half brick and one painting, or a comic strip composed of several bricks. These brick murals are colorful, unique in style and wonderful in painting skills. The content of the brick murals is based on the real life at that time, reflecting farming, breeding, mulberry picking, banqueting, travel, military drills, hunting, etc. Physical data of the region's politics, economy, culture, military, ethnicity, folklore and climate. Among them, the content of painting fills the gap in the history of painting in the Wei and Jin Dynasties of my country in the field of fine arts.
