Approaching the church, we were struck by its grand exterior, an imposing façade that spoke of both artistic mastery and religious significance. The pale stone exterior, adorned with intricate carvings of saints, cherubs, and other religious motifs, reflected the grandeur of European Baroque architecture. The twin spires rose high into the sky, commanding attention and giving the church a towering presence in the Poznan skyline. The contrast between the detailed stonework and the surrounding cityscape highlighted the church's prominence and historical significance. We were truly amazed by the exterior’s grandeur, a perfect example of European Baroque architecture blending religious devotion with artistic brilliance.

Getting There - Poznań old town Attractions - The Royal Castle & observation Desk Hotels - Wrocław Hostel The royal castle is a old castle that you can go to the top and enjoy the panorama of Poznań. You can either use the elevator or use your own feet to climb up 185 steps to the top. The student ticket is €1 so remember to bring the valid student ID! You can also the museum in the castle with the ticket as well.

It took me 2 hours to get there by train. The ticket is half price if you are a student with a valid physical student card. unfortunately when I was there, the old market square was under construction lol but the royal palace only cost me €1 (student price!)

Entrance tickets are cheap (12 PLN concession, 16 PLN normal), after the visit it's worth stopping by the museum store - souvenirs are very unique and at good prices. What is a definite advantage of the place - the opportunity to observe various species of animals specific to the climate zone. The site is divided into 9 zones, among which are tropical vegetation, succulents of America or xerophytes.

#celebrateit Ordered a Rosot and a pierogi. Rosot was too basic to my palate: standard chicken soup, no less nor more; broken/choppy thin noodles, no much textural variation; mostly carrot for the ingredients. Pierogi, on the other hand, was underwhelming despite the review. The filling was generous, but the flavor is okay and the texture somehow powdery. Since the potato dough was a tad powdery (and thick&dense), the whole thing tasted a bit like chewing some raw dough (it’s not tho). At first I thought it could be cultural differences, then I had another one in Gdansk and realized it could taste a lot better with some extra cooking arts. So overall, I don’t think this place does justice to Polish cuisine, if you’re a foreigner and would wanna be able to fall in love with Polish food. 📍Address: Wiejskie Jadło

#celebrateit The desserts are beyond surprisingly good. I was completely sold that I had to come thrice in a day. First time was a puff with raspberry filling and white chocolate cream and pistachio flakes on top. At first glance, the puff seems overbaked too hard, but when I managed to have all elements in single bite, it was quite magical. You have all different flavors and textures blending in perfectly, especially the white chocolate cream was doing a lot bridging them together. So it didnt only look good, it tasted even more so. The second time I had the white chocolate cherry tart. It looks pretty darn normal, but again, the layers of flavors/textures are so well thought. Pretty convinced they made their own cherry fillings (not much sweet at all, all cherry aroma), and there’s actually a layer of dark chocolate alongside the cherry underneath the smooth but strong chocolate cream; last at the bottom you have a nice crust. Different intensity/texture of chocolate elements came through at different time, with a nice fruitiness at the base. I almost wanted to take a 2nd one (also the last one available) but another customer went before me. The 3rd visit was a cake with similar flavors but less impressive because it wasn’t kept cold enough and because the textures weren’t as varied. But it is what it is, and still tasted good. Just not stellar like the previous two. Coffee-wise, I think it’s a good pairing with desserts for its full body. But nothing much too remarkable. | Sheraton Hotels. Hey guys, I recently went to Poznan, Poland, and stayed at the Sheraton Poznan Hotel. It was such a great experience that I just had to share it with you all! 📍Great location The hotel is located in the heart of Poznan, surrounded by bustling commercial areas, making shopping and dining super convenient. There are also many cultural attractions nearby, so you can visit them and then head back to the hotel to rest. It's so nice! The hotel is also close to transportation hubs, so you can easily reach any destination by public transport or taxi. 🛏️Comfortable rooms I was amazed as soon as I entered the room. The decor is modern and stylish. The Sheraton Signature Sleep Experience bed is just the right firmness. I felt instantly relaxed when I lay down on it at night and slept soundly until morning. The high-speed Wi-Fi in the room is great, the TV has a wide range of channels, and the minibar snacks are a nice touch. It was such a pleasant stay. 🍽️Delicious food The hotel restaurant is a foodie's paradise! You can enjoy authentic Polish cuisine, such as crispy Polish dumplings, as well as a variety of international dishes. Whether it's Western-style steak and pasta or Asian-style stir-fried dishes and rice, your taste buds will be satisfied. The bartender at the bar is amazing, and the cocktails are both beautiful and delicious. Enjoying a drink in the evening is a wonderful experience. 🏋️‍♀️Great facilities The fitness center is well-equipped with treadmills, dumbbells, elliptical machines, and more. You can work out however you like without worrying about interrupting your exercise routine while traveling. The indoor pool is crystal clear and the water temperature is just right. A few laps in the pool will instantly relieve your fatigue. There's also a sauna and steam room, so you can relax and unwind. 💼Business-friendly If you're traveling for business, this is the perfect choice. The meeting rooms and banquet halls are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, making them ideal for small business meetings or large social events. The business center also offers great services. The staff can quickly help you with printing, copying, faxing, and other tasks. The Sheraton Poznan Hotel is amazing! Poznan is an important city in Poland. It is not only a transportation hub, but also a leading city in education, literature, and history. It was even once the capital of Poland. However, I didn't know any of this before I decided to visit. I just thought it sounded like a quiet place. It turns out that the city is indeed very quiet. Especially Cathedral Island (photos 5, 6, and 7), where you can walk around and enjoy the scenery without seeing many people. It's as if the place has never been discovered by the world. When strolling through Poznan Old Town (photos 1, 2, and 3), you'll see buildings in soft fruit colors. It's the most naturally colorful old town I've ever seen, with a mysterious beauty and an incomprehensible depth. The colors have been destroyed by countless wars, but they have become even more dazzling after each reconstruction! The graffiti is also impressive, sometimes rough and sometimes romantic. If you suddenly see a building with a comic-style mural on the street, don't doubt your eyes. Yes, it is a real house (photo 8). Artists paint on the original structure of the house, and from a distance, you can't tell if the people standing in front of the building are real or not. I highly recommend visiting this low-key Polish city to experience the peace and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle.

Poznań in the west is the fifth largest city in Poland, and I was surprised by the stunning scenery here. Poland is in Central Europe, with Western Europe to the west and Eastern Europe to the east, making it a true Central European country. It borders Germany to the west (having fought Germany/Prussia many times in history, and was blitzed by Germany in WWII), and Czechoslovakia to the south, which was once part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and Poland was divided by them in the 18th century. It borders Ukraine/Belarus to the east, which was originally Russian territory, and before WWI, Tsarist Russia and Germany divided Poland many times. It borders Lithuania to the north, and Poland and Lithuania were once a united country in history, fighting the Teutonic Knights together. There is a triangular territory between Poland and Lithuania, which is an enclave of Russia, established after the war to keep Russia's access to the Baltic Sea, and Kaliningrad is the most famous city in this enclave! "Where to next?" The daily life of a travel addict is either traveling or planning a trip. "I haven't decided yet, but I've been traveling to relatively less developed and stable countries like Egypt, Jordan, and Iran this year. To be honest, I do miss Europe." "Then go to Poland and the Baltic sisters. It was originally planned for 2020, but it was delayed for so long, now you can fulfill your dream." "It doesn't seem to be peaceful there now, does it? #2024mapped One of the great part of a travelling experience is to enjoy a stay in a more or less local/traditional setting. The place I happened to book was exactly that. The lobby, dining restaurant and common areas were beautifully decorated in the local elements. Service was warm too, even tho I checked in after 12am, and they kept helping to refill my water seeing me thirsty after a long trip from Berlin. The accommodation choices are mostly private rooms, but if you need, dormitory styled beds are available too (but in limited quantity), which is very helpful for solo travelers in budget. 📍Address: Hotel Kolegiacki Plac Kolegiacki 5, Stare Miasto District, Poznań

First visit I ordered a puff with raspberry filling and white chocolate cream and pistachio flakes on top. But it still tasted good, just not as stellar as the other twos. The coffee they served were full-bodied too, which complemented the desserts very well. Ambience-wise, it’s a small tucked-in cafe, but stylish enough and has strong WiFi. But the star here was really the dessert.

#2024mapped A few churches that left good impression on me: 1) Poznan Cathedral - a vibrant and photogenic church to take photo from outside 2) Church of Sts. John Bosco - honestly, after visiting more than 10 European countries, this architecture of church was something I hadn’t seen anywhere else. It’s not huge, nor the interior delicate, but worth checking out 3) Basilica of Our Lady - right in the centre of old town, easily reachable by walking Overall, Poland churches stand quite apart from Western Europe and even its other Eastern European siblings.

#2024mapped Poland is a huge country comparable to Germany. For example, travelling from Berlin to Warsaw take no less than 8hours. So it’s naturally for me to try to look for a city to stop in between. That was Poznan. And it’s much more lovely than I’ve expected for its architecture and food. First of all, the architecture was very different from Western Europe (and no less so from its other Eastern European members like Czech, Austria and Budapest). It was a trip to Poznań, Poland 🇵🇱 with family. Our journey began in the heart of Poznań, where we explored the Old Market Square (Stary Rynek), the city’s most iconic landmark. This vibrant square is surrounded by pastel-colored merchant houses 🏘️ bustling cafés ☕️ and street vendors. The most striking part of the square is the Ratusz (Town Hall), with its Renaissance-style architecture and the famous mechanical goats that appear every day at noon. The square truly comes to life, making it a perfect spot for a mix of architecture and street photography. 📍Stary Rynek, 61-772 Poznań, Poland We also ventured to Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island) 🏝️ an island that holds some of the oldest churches in Poland, including the magnificent Poznań Cathedral ⛪️(Katedra św. Piotra i Pawła). The cathedral’s gothic architecture, with its towering spires and intricate details, made it a must-see for any photography enthusiast 📸 We took some incredible shots from the surrounding park area, where the calm waters of the river reflected the cathedral’s grandeur. This serene spot is perfect for a peaceful afternoon stroll 🙌 📍Ostrów Tumski, 61-001 Poznań, Poland We then headed to Malta Lake (Jezioro Maltańskie), a large artificial lake just a short drive 🚗 from the city center. It’s a great place to take in some nature, and the views are absolutely picturesque. We rented bikes 🚲 and cycled around the lake, capturing the serene atmosphere with shots of the water 💦 greenery 🌱 and the Malta Ski slopes in the background. For a unique touch, don’t miss the Malta Fountain, which offers a spectacular water show during the warmer months. 📍Jezioro Maltańskie, 61-001 Poznań, Poland We also visited the Poznań Palm House (Palmiarnia Poznańska), a tropical oasis in the city. Located within Wilson Park, the Palm House features lush greenery, exotic plants, and even a few animals, making it a great location for capturing vibrant, nature-filled shots 📸 We wandered through different sections of the greenhouse, from tropical rainforests to desert landscapes, and took some amazing close-up photos of the rare plants🪴 The light streaming through the glass ceiling created magical ambiance, perfect for photography ✨ 📍Wilsona 1, 61-703 Poznań, Poland No trip to Poznań is complete without visiting the Imperial Castle 🏰 (Zamek Cesarski), a magnificent structure built during the German Empire era.
