Visit Wuzhen and heed the advice of the locals
If you only want to visit one ancient town, then I recommend Wuzhen🥲. Here is a worry-free guide that doesn't involve retracing your steps, be sure to save it~
🚗Transportation advice: Friends nearby can choose to drive or take a bus, with departures from Hangzhou West Lake or Shanghai, costing only a few dozen per person, saving more time💯.
✅Tongxiang travel: You can check the bus schedule, there are also buses at night~ Remember to apply for the Tongxiang ride code in advance👌.
⚠Avoid pitfalls guide: You must take this part seriously❗
1⃣During the winter vacation, Xizha has many performances🎶, such as night lantern festivals, water markets, lantern boat parades, and lantern bridge walks for blessings, which will continue until 2.25. The schedule of the programs has been organized for you👇right below.
2⃣For a visit to Wuzhen, Xizha is highly recommended for its large area, beautiful scenery, and self-operated shops without excluding tourists from other places. It's also great for photography📸; Dongzha is good for buying local products; South and North Zha are basically undeveloped, so don't go to the wrong place🙅.
3⃣Make sure your navigation is set to "Wuzhen Xizha No. 1 Visitor Center"🚩. Rickshaws and guesthouses at the entrance of the scenic area are mostly unreliable, leading you to designated shops for consumption, ignore them🙅! The visitor center is also the entrance to the scenic area, remember to keep your eyes peeled before entering👀.
4⃣There are many Hanfu and cheongsam shops at the entrance of the scenic area🎀. If you want to take photos, do your makeup before entering the scenic area, as the clothing stores inside charge 2-3 times more~ Choose thick Hanfu with velvet👘.
5⃣When choosing accommodation, be sure to consider the distance from the visitor center🚶. Many so-called "scenic area guesthouses" are actually far from the main gate🚫, and you may have to go around to get there. Ask the owner directly how far it is from the Xizha visitor center!
6⃣There are tour buses in the scenic area, take a ride when tired, 10 yuan per trip🚎. Ask the driver to drop you off at less crowded attractions for a better off-peak experience🤩~
7⃣If staying in the scenic area, remember to go to the "Water Market" for morning tea🍵, which ends at 9 am, and all seats are available. Go early to get a good indoor window seat with a beautiful view🤳. After 9 am when the scenic area opens, it gets crowded, which can affect the visiting experience😣.
8⃣The south bank of the Xizha canal is also great to explore, don't just crowd on the north bank👯~ The south bank's Nü Hong Street to General Wu area has a wide view and is more suitable for photography📷.
🗺Tour route: Wuzhen Theatre➡Mu Xin Art Museum (closed on Mondays)➡Caomu Natural Dyeing Workshop➡Shuishi Kou Market➡Jia Zuo Bookstore➡Ding Sheng Bridge➡Zhao Ming Academy➡Wuzhen Post Office➡Guo Yue Theatre➡General Wu Temple➡Water Theatre➡Qiao Li Qiao➡Bai Lian Pagoda➡Yue Lao Temple➡Dragon Dance Flower Field.
Did you get this guide😁? Bring your family and friends to Wuzhen and experience the charm of the Jiangnan water towns~

Wuzhen, Zhejiang
I remember when I was in college, one of the presentations was about Wuzhen. I chose it after much consideration, because of its culture, environment, and attractions. The atmosphere of the Wuzhen Theatre Festival is just right, i.e., people change. The 10th Wuzhen Theatre Festival finally opened on the 19th.
Time: 10.19-10.29
🗓You can see the weekend exhibition guide for the Theatre Festival on my homepage, it's worth bookmarking❗️

Travel Guide to the Ancient Town of Wuzhen in Jiangnan
🌸Wuzhen, a heart-stirring ancient town in Jiangnan, its beauty and charm cannot be fully expressed in words. This scenic spot located in Tongxiang City, Jiaxing, has attracted countless tourists with its unique Jiangnan water town style and historical charm. Next, I will share my travel guide to Wuzhen, hoping to be helpful to you.
🍀First of all, regarding the travel time, the Wuzhen scenic area is open all year round, and the opening hours are 9:00-22:30 every day. For the travel route, I suggest that you can visit in the following order:
1️⃣Day1:
As soon as you enter the scenic spot, the first thing that comes into view is the Xizha Old Street. This street is full of the characteristic style of the Jiangnan water town, as if it has traveled through time and space. You can appreciate the ancient architecture here, taste local delicacies, and buy characteristic handicrafts. Then go to the Caomu Benziran Dyeing Workshop, a dyeing workshop full of historical sense. Here you can understand the ancient dyeing process and also appreciate the beautiful dyed cloth. After lunch, go to the Ganchun Market, where you can buy some characteristic handicrafts or taste local delicacies. Finally, visit the night view of Wuzhen. The night view of Wuzhen has a different flavor, making people feel as if they are in a fairy tale world.
2️⃣Day2:
In the morning, go to the water market to experience the morning tea guests. Here you can taste the local breakfast and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Jiangnan water town. Then you can experience the rowing boat experience, sitting on the boat to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Jiangnan water town. Next, visit attractions such as Qiaoli Bridge and Bailian Tower. These attractions all have their own unique charm, making people linger.
🍀During the tour of Wuzhen, in addition to visiting attractions, there are also some special activities and festivals to participate in. For example, the Good Life Festival·Ganchun Collection and others are characteristic activities of Wuzhen, and each activity has its own characteristics and charm. In addition, there are some accommodation facilities to choose from in the scenic area. (Living in the scenic area, you can overlook the beauty of the scenic area and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal❤️)
🍀Regarding travel expenses, the specific travel expenses will vary according to personal consumption levels and itinerary arrangements. Generally speaking, the ticket price is 150 yuan/person, and the accommodation cost varies according to different grades and seasons, roughly ranging from 300-1000 yuan. In addition, transportation costs and other personal consumption need to be considered. Therefore, it is recommended to make a budget plan in advance to avoid unnecessary expenses.
🌸What I want to say finally is that Wuzhen is a place that needs to be felt with the heart. Here you can feel the tranquility and beauty of the Jiangnan water town, and you can also feel the heaviness of history and the connotation of culture. Whether you like history or nature, Wuzhen is a place worth visiting. I hope my guide can be helpful to your trip and look forward to meeting you in Wuzhen.

The ancient town rated as the most beautiful in China by National Geographic is stunningly amazing!
Wuzhen, located in Tongxiang City, Jiaxing, Zhejiang, is divided into Dongzha, Xizha, Nanzha, and Beizha by the cross-shaped inland river system. With a civilization history of over 7000 years and a town-building history of 1300 years, it perfectly preserves the appearance and pattern of the ancient water town in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, known as the 'land of fish and rice, and the mansion of silk'.
The southern water town is gentle and moving, and Wuzhen is definitely the best among them. With white walls and grey tiles, bluestone roads, half of the town is mundane, and the other half is poetic.
Mu Xin described Wuzhen in this haiku: Jiangnan is green/ the stone steps are also green/ it always seems like it just rained. The exquisite sunlight that has not been seen for a long time falls on the green brick ground through the fine wood carving lattices...
Take advantage of the good times, always go to Jiangnan, always go to Wuzhen.
Take a rowing boat through the water town, stroll in the small alleys with green tiles and white walls, and feel the charm of the ancient town for thousands of years.
WESTLEY MANNING
Wuzhen is best suited for a two-day and one-night stay, will come again next time!
Wuzhen is really worth a visit, the scenery and landscape are very good, but you must be well prepared and strategize, otherwise 90% of the time it will affect the mood of play! After returning from Wuzhen, I will sort out the essential knowledge points of Wuzhen travel for everyone.
When playing in Wuzhen, you must visit Wuzhen Xizha, Xizha is the main scenic spot, the scenery is good and it is a must-visit spot. Dongzha is small and has many shops, which is more suitable for buying special products, and you can take a look at it by the way.
There are many people at the entrance of the scenic spot pretending to be scenic spot staff telling you "Go to the old street during the day, and come to Xizha at night", it is purely a scam, Xizha is enough to play all day. The old street they mentioned is a small area from Nanzha to Dongzha. It's just to scam you to consume and buy special products, buy clothes, and get a commission.
Don't take the rickshaw at the entrance of the scenic spot. The starting price of a ride-hailing car can charge you twenty to thirty. All are pits
Don't believe in the Wumei sold in Dongzha Scenic Area, the dyed grapes are super expensive, the scenic spot has put up a sign saying not to buy, and many people are still being fooled. Eat and discolor the tongue
You must take a boat in Xizha, the scenery on the boat is completely different, the swaying small boat has a lot of Jiangnan charm. You have to queue up to take a boat at night, more than twenty people queued for more than forty minutes, there will be fewer people queuing in the morning. There is mosquito repellent on the boat, you can spray it when you take a boat
Wuzhen is in Jiaxing Tongxiang, the high-speed rail to Tongxiang Station is the closest, don't buy the wrong ticket.
You can stay in Wuzhen Scenic Area, there are two types of scenic area homestays and scenic area hotels, both are watched by the scenic area. Living inside can freely enter and exit the scenic area, and you can also play in the scenic area when there are no people, the experience is very good. There are accommodation packages for 600 per person including tickets and boat tickets
There is a rest room in the scenic area toilet, with air conditioning, direct drinking water, chairs, power banks, and even free showers, where you can rest and cool off.
If you don't know how to visit Xizha, just walk west along the main street, the main scenery is on the main street. All kinds of snacks are also on the street, recommend Dingsheng Cake, Dongpo Zongzi, Wu Mama Wonton, Wumi Rice.
The natural dyeing workshop is suitable for taking pictures, it is very out of the picture on sunny days, the blue dyed cloth area is the place where the most people take pictures

Wuzhen West Zone, stealing half a day of idle life, today I am my free self
Wuzhen West Zone, stealing half a day of idle life, today I am my free self.
Walking in the alleys of Wuzhen West Zone, the sun shines through the ancient buildings, casting a golden glow. Stone paths, white walls and black tiles, antique shops, everything seems so quiet and quaint. I am immersed in this leisurely atmosphere, feeling the passage of time.
Along the alley, I came to a quiet lakeside. The lake is rippling, and the breeze brings a hint of coolness. I sat on the bench by the lake, quietly admiring this beautiful scenery. The lake and mountains are reflected in the ancient buildings, as if I am in a beautiful painting.
In the afternoon, I walked into a traditional teahouse and tasted the local tea. The teahouse is filled with a faint tea fragrance, and I seem to forget the hustle and bustle of the world while listening to the melodious guzheng music. Here, I feel the plainness and beauty of life.
Stealing half a day of idle life, I found my own world in Wuzhen West Zone. Here, I feel free and peaceful, savoring the beauty of life. This is me, a free self, a me who likes to immerse in the antique world.

For the ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, winter is a low season for tourism. First, because the weather is cold, it is not suitable for going out, and there is no heating in the room. Secondly, the scenery in winter is also worse, but if you happen to be in the old town of Jiangnan when it is snowing, it is different.
Wuzhen in the winter is somewhat deserted, and the snow falls on the roof of the Linshui wooden house in the Jiangnan water town, accumulating a thick layer, like the northeast snow town. The West Gate of Wuzhen is famous for its night view.
There are fewer tourists in winter, and the boats on the river are also neatly docked. There has already been a layer of snow on the roof, which has not been cleaned and more artistic. Tickets for Wuzhen are not cheap. Tickets for a scenic spot in Xizha are 150 yuan, which can only be valid on the same day. It is the most expensive in the ancient town of Jiangnan.

Wuzhen in summer.
I stayed in Wuzhen Xizha for two nights during the summer vacation. I stayed in a youth hostel, which was affordable and allowed me to enjoy the empty mornings and leisurely nights. As long as you slow down, the charm of the ancient town by the water will slowly ripple out. In the morning, you can walk on the empty stone road, have breakfast and listen to opera with the morning tea guests, watch movies by the canal in the evening, chat in the breeze, and wait until the tourists are gone.

Oct 19, 2024 | Wuzhen, a place as peaceful as its name.
📍 Location: Wuzhen, Zhejiang
✨ Experience: Spend half a day walking around the bridges and paths of Xizha with a camera, take a stroll through the town, and visit the ancient buildings to learn about the town's history. Try the snacks in Xizha, and find a riverside shop to sit on the second floor, read a book, drink tea or coffee, and spend a leisurely day. If you happen to be there during the Wuzhen Theater Festival, you can watch performances of all sizes at any time.
I chose a weekend to stay in Wuzhen, and it happened to be the Wuzhen Theater Festival. The town was bustling with people, and the narrow streets were crowded with tourists. But I still enjoyed the lively atmosphere of people coming for the theater. I walked around and stopped at random, and I accidentally watched several small performances.
Having just left Tongli Ancient Town and coming to a new one, I could see the differences between the two. The river in Wuzhen is wider than in Tongli, and several boats can sail side by side. After walking around the town several times, I felt that Tongli was built by the river, and people traveled along the river, while Wuzhen felt like an ancient town built in the river, and people traveled in the river.
The eaves and rooms directly facing the water make Wuzhen feel like it is built in the middle of the river. People walk on the bridge, boats pass under the bridge, and everything is so calm and leisurely in the sound of the oars. It is said that there are more than 100 bridges in Wuzhen.
Jinji Pastry Shop's Dingsheng Cake, Zongzi with meat, Zilala Fried Shop's Radish Cake, Qiaoliqiao Biscuit Shop's Plum Vegetable Meat Cake... I stayed in Wuzhen for two days, and every snack I tried made me want to have another one.

Wuzhen Xizha Scenic Area.
Xizha is located on Wuzhen West Street, adjacent to the ancient Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and has a highway directly to Jiangsu, Suzhou, and Tongxiang City, making it very convenient to travel. Unlike Dongzha, which is mainly for sightseeing, Xizha is mainly for business tourism and leisure vacations. Xizha Street adheres to the concept of "protecting and utilizing historical buildings and reshaping the functions of historical streets." Compared with the first phase of the protection and development project, the protection and development of the second phase of Xizha Scenic Area is more complete and thorough, and people, the environment, nature, and buildings are more harmonious. Xizha Scenic Area covers an area of 4.92 square kilometers, with more than 9,000 meters of crisscrossing rivers, a beautiful environment, and requires a ferry to enter and exit. There are 72 ancient bridges, and the density of rivers and the number of stone bridges are the highest among ancient towns in China. The scenic area preserves 250,000 square meters of exquisite Ming and Qing buildings, and the Xizha Old Street, which runs through the east and west of the scenic area, is 1.8 kilometers long, with riverside pavilions stretching for more than 1.8 kilometers on both sides.

Wuzhen Theatre Festival Guide: This Utopia Packs a Punch!
The annual Wuzhen Theatre Festival is back! ❗️❗️ I just got back from the festival and I'm so excited! I finally put together a guide for everyone! ❗️❗️ It packs a punch! ~
This guide covers everything from food, accommodation, transportation, and entertainment. Feel free to use it as a reference. ~
-
🚗Transportation
Let's start with transportation. It's very convenient to get to Wuzhen from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai. You can take a high-speed train to Tongxiang Station and then take a taxi for 20 km to get there. ~
It's also very convenient to drive from Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, and other cities.
📷Entertainment
If you're coming for the theatre festival, you must see a play you like. We saw The Threepenny Opera, and it was a wonderful performance. 👍
The Wuzhen Carnival is really high quality, with lots of performance groups, body installations, intangible cultural heritage performances, parade NPCs, and more. ~ If you're lucky, you might even run into a celebrity. ~ The whole carnival is so much fun. ~ I'll be back next year.
🏠Accommodation
I recommend staying at [Wucun Daoshe Country Hotel].
This hotel is really nice. From a distance, it looks like a painting, blending in with the rice fields. It's really beautiful and artistic. ~
The hotel is next to Xizha and located in Wucun. I recommend staying for three days and two nights so you can explore Wuzhen and Wucun. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus to Wucun Scenic Area. There's a beautiful treehouse in Wucun that you can climb up to. ~ It's like being in a fairy tale world. ~
There's also a whole field of rice paddies and sugarcane fields, with beautiful natural scenery.
There's also a beautiful Zhiqing Cafe in Wucun. The whole installation is a celebration of the harvest. It's nice to sit here for an afternoon. ~
The hotel breakfast is also very good. 👍 The fresh vegetables are very sweet, especially the sugarcane, which is delicious. 😋 ~ You must try it. ~
If you stay at the hotel, there's a free shuttle bus to and from Wuzhen Xizha Scenic Area. It only takes a few minutes. ~
I also recommend the morning tea at Xizha Scenic Area. If you stay at a hotel in Xizha Scenic Area, you can make a free reservation and experience the local life of Jiangnan Water Town. ~
Wuzhen is so beautiful. I'll be back. ~

I had a romantic journey through dreams and reality in Wuzhen!
The "Wuzhen Theater Festival" is in full swing, and I felt the perfect blend of art and ancient charm! This autumn, Wuzhen is not just an ancient water town, but a city that never sleeps, illuminated by theatrical art. I had a romantic journey through dreams and reality.
-
As soon as I entered Wuzhen, I felt like I had traveled through time and space. The ancient alleys, the flowing water, and the exquisite pavilions all exude a historical charm. As I walked, I found these ancient buildings illuminated by the light of theater, becoming vivid stages! Walking on the stone roads of Wuzhen, you can encounter performances at any time (the official WeChat account will post daily activity previews, and if you don't have a specific schedule, it's also a good choice to enjoy the surprise of a chance encounter). The actors sing and dance, express joy and sorrow, and showcase the charm of theater, making the audience laugh and think. I was also infected by them and became part of this artistic feast.
-
In addition to the wonderful performances, there are also various parades worth watching! Handsome men and beautiful women put on exquisite makeup and beautiful costumes, bringing the characters from the theater into reality and interacting with the audience. It's really fun!
-
Wuzhen during the theater festival is an ocean of art and a paradise for theater. I'm glad I could come here for this unmissable feast!

Head to Wuzhen for a tea ceremony and experience the autumnal charm of Jiangnan.
🍃 On the first weekend after the start of autumn, I went to Wuzhen for a tea ceremony in a teahouse courtyard, enjoying a quiet afternoon.
🍂 Walking along the stone paths, I felt like I was stepping into a painting. Each stone carries the memories of history, telling stories of the past.
🍃 I took a ride on a traditional Wupeng boat, slowly gliding along the river. The water reflected the ancient buildings and lights on both sides. The breeze brought a coolness that made me feel at peace.
🌲 Away from the hustle and bustle, I entered this picturesque ancient town. Here, time seemed to slow down, and everything became so leisurely.
🌙 Wuzhen at night has a unique charm. The lights illuminate the ancient streets and bridges. The warm glow of the shops attracts visitors. The distant sound of music adds a touch of romance to the quiet night.
The autumnal charm of Jiangnan brings a moment of peace and relaxation. Compared to the hot summer, I prefer to visit Jiangnan in autumn.
