For Thailand, even though we don't have cherry trees, we have the Himalayan cherry tree, which is a plant of the genus 🌺🌺🌺 roses found in the North at an altitude of 1200-1400 meters. Because of the similarity of the flowers, it is called ""}Thai Sakura""}
At the Hong Ngao Watershed Management Unit, tens of thousands of Himalayan cherry trees are planted, which will bloom during January-February, which is worth a visit. Come and experience the cold weather and see the sea of fog.

The last stretch, Chiang Rai is still cold!!!
See the Thai Sakura, the Himalayan cherry blossoms at the Hong-Ngao Watershed Management Unit, Tambon Por, Amphoe Wiang Kaen, Chiang Rai Province. There are still quite a few Himalayan cherry blossoms in bloom, although some of them have already turned green.

The blooming tiger lily @ the Ngao-Ngao headwaters management unit
For the cherry blossom hunting season, another interesting place to visit in Chiang Rai is the "Hong Ngao-Ngao Watershed Management Unit" in Chiang Rai Province. This year, I personally think that it should be the cherry blossom viewing point that is more abundant than any other place in Chiang Rai (photo taken on January 18, 2024). Since the weather is not too cold, and there is some rain, this year the cherry blossoms bloomed late everywhere. Most of them bloomed with leaves and did not bloom all at the same time in the whole plot. When we went, it was probably about 70-80% in bloom. But overall, it was very beautiful. The pink flowers were blooming everywhere. With the cool weather, it looked very beautiful and impressive. If anyone wants to experience the atmosphere up close, you can set up a tent at the Hong Ngao Watershed Management Unit or stay at a nearby resort. There are many to choose from. If you don't want to stay overnight, you can stop by to visit. During the tourist season, there will be a car service to take you to see the cherry blossoms. Or you can go up to see the sunrise and sunset at Phu Chi Fa first and then come down to visit the Hong Ngao Watershed Management Unit. This year, it is expected that you can visit until the end of January. Those who missed it, you have to come again next year. Don't rush, it's really beautiful.

See the Himalayan cherry blossoms at the Ngao-Ngao Watershed Management Unit.
“Hong Ngao-Ngao Headwaters Management Unit” is a park of Conservation Area Office 15 (Chiang Rai), located in Wiang Kaen District, Chiang Rai Province. The route is the same as Phu Chi Fa.
Here, there is a place for tourists to set up tents and stay overnight at the office of the Hong Ngao-Ngao Headwaters Management Unit or book accommodation in a nearby area to watch the fog. Because this area can go to many other tourist attractions such as Phu Chi Fa, Doi Pha Tang.
The Himalayan cherry blossoms at the Hong Ngao-Ngao Headwaters Management Unit will start blooming in January - February of every year, depending on the weather. If it gets cold early in a year, the Himalayan cherry blossoms will start blooming early.
We traveled by private car. When we reached the hill to the management unit, there will be a songthaew service to take us up to the park. Because the way up is a steep slope, if anyone is not an experienced driver, it is recommended to take a car up instead. The fare is 60 baht per person, including both the way up and down.
Along the way up to the management unit, there are Himalayan cherry blossoms in full bloom. Pink flowers bloom all along both sides of the road, giving an indescribable sense of freshness. When you get there, you will be greeted by a dazzling array of pink. It's a pleasure to walk around and take photos.
