Wat Phra That Doi Wiang Chai Mongkhon is located in Village 6, Long Khot Subdistrict, Phrao District, Chiang Mai Province. Inside the temple, there are buildings built in the original Lanna style. In the chapel, there is Luang Pho Setthi as the principal Buddha image, which is a Buddha image dressed in Lanna art, Chiang Saen, with three lions, in the posture of pleasing Phraya Chomphupati, Buddhist art from the reign of King Tilokarat, 600 years old. Outside, there is the reclining Buddha Maha Chakraphat Muni Si Doi Wiang, dressed in ancient Lanna art, measuring 3 meters wide, 23 meters long, and 10 meters high, or also known as the posture of pleasing Asura Indrahu. It is in a sideways position, with both feet placed long and evenly on top of each other, with the left foot placed on top of the right foot, the right hand raised to support the head, and the left hand placed close to the body. The pillow is under the pillow. In the same area is the Lanna Antiques Museum. Inside, there are items excavated from the temple when the temple was discovered and restored. In this area, there is also a golden chedi which is the base of the relics of Phra Mahathat Doi Wiang Chai Mongkhon. In front of the large chedi, there is a Chedi Than Jai made from old bricks that were used to build the original Phra That Doi Wiang Chai Mongkhon 700 years ago. There is also a viewpoint where there is a monument of King Mangrai the Great, the great monarch of Lanna. It is said that while he was ruling Fang (Fang District), he learned that Hariphunchai (Lamphun Province) was prosperous and rich in resources. So he led an army to attack Hariphunchai. On the way, the army passed through Chaesak City, where he stopped to rest and saw that it was a good strategic location. Therefore, he built a city in 1824 CE, 643 CE, named it “Muang Phrao Wang Hin”, which was a peaceful and peaceful city and an old city that he built 15 years before Chiang Mai. After that, Phraya Mangrai built Wat Phra That Doi Wiang Chai Mongkhon as the main chedi of Ban Daeng Mueang because the temple is located in a good location with a view of the surrounding landscape. He also built it as a city gate and the front of Mueang Phrao. At present, there is still evidence of Phra That Doi Wiang Chai Mongkhon, which is the largest ancient chedi in Phrao District, a Lanna temple, and a four-tiered ancient wall excavated around the temple. At the viewpoint, you can clearly see Phrao District. In addition to Phra That Doi Wiang Chai Mongkhon, in the vicinity, there are Phra That Muang Noeng and Phra That Sam Liam, which are called Phra That Sam Duang. According to Phra Inchai Suwannajaro, when he was a child, he went to work in the rice fields with his father and had to sleep in the rice fields. When night fell, his father called him up to see the light that he called him up to see from Phra That Muang Noeng. He went to visit Phra That Doi Wiang. It appeared as a green, cool-looking ball of light floating from Phra That Muang Neng to Phra That Doi Wiang. Villagers therefore believed that the three Phra Thats would visit each other as if they were siblings.
