Historic buildings
Sisubang Temple is the only temple made of sterling silver in Chiang Mai. In the south of the ancient city of Chiang Mai, the entire ordination hall is made of a mixture of sterling silver, composite silver and aluminum. The silver is shiny and shocking. The signs and decorations in the temple are also made of silver. The reliefs are exquisite and meticulous and highly ornamental, and almost all innovative and cultural elements are expressed in reliefs. This is not only a temple, but also a silver carving workshop. In one corner of the temple, there is a group of silversmiths pounding the silver nuggets. The silver nuggets are knocked out with exquisite and beautiful patterns, which attracts many tourists.

Location: Wat Sri Suphan, pray for blessings, visit temples in Chiang Mai
Atmosphere: This temple is very beautiful, probably the most beautiful in Chiang Mai. This temple is a masterpiece made of large silver, with amazing details. It is really interesting to see the many scenes inspired by Buddhist legends, folk tales, and historical events that decorate every inch of the temple walls, both inside and outside. The interior of the temple is also very beautiful.

If you travel to Chiang Mai, don't miss the silver temple. This temple is called Wat Sri Suphan, located in the Silver Village. It has a history of more than 500 years and is the only temple in the world made of silver. Stroll through the silver temple, and the silver shines in the sunlight.

Wat Sri Suphan
I visited the Wat Sri Suphan temple in Chiang Mai, known as the "Silver Temple" due to its unique design completely covered in silver. Founded in the 16th century, it features exquisite architecture and delicate details carved into the silver walls. During her visit, she contemplated the beauty of the statues and artworks that adorn the temple.
She also participated in a meditation ceremony and enjoyed the calm spiritual atmosphere that surrounded the place. There were also local artisans showcasing their traditional art in silverware, adding a cultural and educational dimension to the visit. It was an experience rich in beauty, spirituality, and authentic Thai culture.

🙏🏻 Hello, friends of Trip.com. Today, Gammy will take you to visit Chiang Mai. This time, I will take you to Wat Sri Suphan. This is Gammy's first time here. Thai people can enter for free. ✔️ Foreigners should pay 50 baht for entrance fee. 💵
✨ This is the first metal chapel in Thailand. It is very beautiful and magnificent. ⚠️ Women cannot enter inside. Only men are allowed to enter. Gammy could only stand and admire the beauty outside. There is a metal Ganesha statue here.
✨ Even though it is in the city, the temple has a shady atmosphere. It is not hot. The bathroom is clean. There is a parking lot, but not much. 🚘

Chiang Mai Family Trip | The small yet exquisite Silver Temple
Before sunset, the temple no longer has the scorching heat.
There is no surging crowd.
He can belong to you, completely belong to you.
To be honest, come to the Silver Temple.
It's for taking photos.
As I kept taking pictures, I couldn't help but put down the camera.
Go appreciate those exquisite carvings.
Looking and looking, I ended up sitting on the steps.
Just sitting quietly like that.
Watching the baby play in front of the tree.
Through a small window
Rosy sunset.
Feel the calmness of this moment.
Compared to famous temples like those in Bangkok and Chiang Rai, the Silver Temple is not worth adding to your itinerary.
But if you have a little leisure time
Come and take a look.

Worship and ask for blessings | Wat Sri Suphan | Chiang Mai
Lanna style temple built during the reign of King Kawirorot in 1799. This temple was renovated by adding contemporary art, but still retains the original, including mural paintings of the 12 zodiac signs, the pagodas of Chiang Mai, and the mysteries of the three worlds. In addition, silver craftsmanship has been used to emboss the life story of the Buddha, the Ten Lives of the Buddha, and the Vessantara Jataka on the temple walls.
How to get to Wat Sri Suphan
From the Chiang Mai ring road, turn onto Wualai road.
Go straight for about 600 meters, then you will see the sign for Wat Sri Suphan on the right. Turn right for about 50 meters and you will see

Silver Church in the center of Chiang Mai
"Wat Sri Suphan", a beautiful temple in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand
With the unique and magnificent beauty of the silver church, which is elegantly located in the middle of the walking street in Chiang Mai city, many tourists have the opportunity to pay homage and admire the beauty of this chapel. And with the restrictions of the church, "Prohibitions: Women are not allowed to enter the chapel." You can only pay homage and admire the outside.
Outside, there is a place to worship where we can ask for blessings as well.

The Silver Temple
Wat Sri Suphan otherwise known as the Silver Temple or Silver Hall is located south of the old city in Chiang Mai and is conveniently nestled just off the Wua Lai road on Soi 3 about half way down. It is easily accessed on foot of via scooter. My wife and I visited this temple/attraction after speaking to other travellers who raved about it. As a temple it is quite unique due to the intricately crafted silver and aluminium sheets which have been beaten and moulded to depict numerous scenes and locations and used to decorate the temple. Please note that any visitors are required to wear long trousers and also be aware that women are not allowed to enter the temple itself but can walk around the grounds. This is definitely worthy of a visit anytime you are in the area. There are also two other temples which you could visit right next to this one

Wat Sri Suphan, Chiang Mai
The first silver chapel of
Wat Sri Suphan is located in the Wualai district of Chiang Mai Province. This area is famous for silverware making. With the skills of local craftsmen who have been passed down from generation to generation, they have come together to create works for the Ubosot of Wat Sri Suphan, which has become an important landmark that anyone who visits Chiang Mai must stop by to see the beauty of the world's first silver Ubosot.
Wat Sri Suphan is an ancient temple in Chiang Mai. It was built in 2043 during the reign of King Mueang Kaew. Later, when the original Ubosot was severely damaged, a new Ubosot was built in the Lanna style, made of silver and tin, using the skills and wisdom of local craftsmen who are famous for silverware.
Both the exterior and interior of the Ubosot are decorated with exquisite silverware and graceful patterns, reflecting the meticulousness and care of the creator. Inside is the principal Buddha image, "Phra Chao Chet Tue", a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude. The golden body contrasts with the silver of the Ubosot. This beauty comes from the silver craftsmen's determination to "Leave art to the land of Lanna Dedicated to Buddhism, honoring the King Rama IX"
Inside the temple, there is a statue of Ganesha, which is highly revered by craftsmen and devotees who come to pay homage. The temple is also a training center for silverware and jewelry handicrafts to preserve and pass on local wisdom in the Wualai area for interested tourists to visit and learn about the wisdom of silverware handicrafts of the villagers, which is a way to pass on the knowledge of silverware so that it does not disappear from Thailand.

Wat Sri Suphan
#celebrateit
It is a temple built around 1500, and its main hall is characterised by its characteristic. It is said to be the first temple in the world to have a silver-shed hall. Unfortunately, women are not allowed to enter the main hall, but you can see the beautiful silver-coloured scenery without entering the main hall. In Thailand, where there are many devout Buddhists, even foreigners need to observe manners.

Silver Temple Chiang Mai: A Shimmering Slice of Peace
#getgoing2025
I wasn't expecting to be so blown away by the Silver Temple in Chiang Mai, but wow, it’s something special. The temple itself, covered in intricately detailed silver, looks otherworldly. There’s this stillness as you walk around—something about the reflective surfaces just makes the whole space feel tranquil and serene. I remember wandering through, admiring the craftsmanship, and just soaking up the peaceful vibe. The temple is a beautiful fusion of art and spirituality, and I couldn’t help but feel a deeper connection to Chiang Mai’s cultural roots as I explored it.

Discovering Chiang Mai: Elephants, Temples, and Timeless Charm
#chiangmai is a city that captures your heart with its mix of natural beauty, spiritual depth, and rich culture. During my visit, I had the chance to experience some of its most iconic attractions, each leaving a lasting impression on me.
One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, a haven for rescued elephants. Unlike other places, this sanctuary emphasizes ethical tourism. Watching these majestic creatures roam freely, splashing in the mud and foraging for food, was a powerful reminder of the importance of conservation. Feeding them and observing their gentle nature up close was a truly unforgettable experience. It felt good knowing that my visit supported a place that genuinely cares for these animals.
Chiang Mai is also a city of temples, and no visit would be complete without exploring its spiritual landmarks. The two most renowned temples, Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang, transported me to a world of intricate architecture and serene beauty. Wat Phra Singh’s golden stupas and ornate carvings are breathtaking, while Wat Chedi Luang’s ancient, towering structure tells a story of resilience, standing tall even after centuries of weathering.
Lastly, the Silver Temple (Wat Sri Suphan) is a gem like no other. The intricate silver craftsmanship adorning the temple’s exterior is mesmerizing. It glistens in the sunlight, almost as if it’s alive, and the details of the carvings are a testament to the incredible skill of local artisans. Though only men can enter the inner sanctum due to tradition, the beauty of the exterior alone makes it worth a visit.
Chiang Mai offered me moments of awe, reflection, and a deep appreciation for both nature and culture. It’s a destination I would recommend to anyone seeking authentic and meaningful experiences.

The Silver Temple in the southern part of Chiang Mai Old City
In Chiang Mai, if you want to visit a unique temple, this one is definitely worth a visit. It used to be free to enter, but now there's a 50 THB entrance fee for foreigners, while Thai nationals can enter for free. The fee is quite reasonable. The temple in the first picture only allows men to enter; women can only view it from the outside. It's a great spot for photography, especially in good weather or when it's lit up at night. The temple hosts many activities, and the Saturday Night Market is located at the alley entrance outside the temple. If you're planning a trip to Chiang Mai, consider including Saturday and Sunday in your itinerary, as these night markets are among the liveliest.

🔍 The Secret of the Temple
The Silver Temple, like a guardian, watches over the ancient traditions. Women's footsteps cannot enter this land. This rule may be part of the ancient traditions, or perhaps a mysterious ritual. And this prohibition reminds us of the invisible constraints in society, those old regulations, are they also hindering our progress?
▶️ Inside the Temple
Once inside, you will be surrounded by a silver glow. The hall is decorated with intricate silver ornaments, shining brightly. This is not just a temple, but more like a palace of art. Admiring the magnificence of the silverware, it's like walking in a dream.

This is a must-try experience❗️Opposite the temple, there is a workshop where you have the chance to handcraft silverware. Learn the process of making silverware and experience the ancient craft. The teacher will instruct you on how to carve, and after the carving is completed, they will help you make it into a complete keychain, which you can take home as a souvenir🌸

Here, every step you take is under the solemn and sacred shimmer of silver light.
📷 Every corner is a perfect spot for beautiful photography! Whether it's the early morning when the dawn's light reflects off the silverware, or the evening when the sunset's afterglow bathes the temple, it's a scene you can't help but want to capture. Don't forget to bring your camera to catch this rare tranquility and beauty.
🙏 The Buddha statues inside the temple are equally awe-inspiring. Here, you can slow down, quietly feel the profound influence of Buddhist culture, and perhaps find a sense of peace in your heart.

You must visit this temple in Chiang Mai on a sunny day
This is the last temple I visited in Chiang Mai. Actually, there are many temples in Chiang Mai, but I can't remember most of their names. Each one is splendidly decorated with gold, and regardless of their size, many people go there to worship. The temples I visited have some unique features in their appearance or are more famous locally, like this 'Silver Temple'. All the buildings inside and the guardian statues outside are shimmering in silver. I looked around and couldn't find any English introduction, so I don't know the history of this temple or whether the silver is real or just painted. I'll leave it to you, the viewers, to judge.
