Bodhi Tree | Wat Phra Sri Mahathat | Bangkok
The Bodhi tree was originally called ‘Assattha’.
Until the Buddha became enlightened under this tree, Assattha was renamed “Bodhi”.
The term “Sri Maha Bodhi Tree” is used to refer to the Bodhi tree where Prince Siddhattha sat and practiced to become enlightened as the Buddha.
According to the records, the Sri Maha Bodhi tree is located on the bank of the Neranjara River in Uruvela Senanikom Subdistrict, Bodh Gaya City, which is about 3,000 kilometers away from Thailand.
However, in Thailand, many places refer to the Bodhi tree as the Sri Maha Bodhi tree.
The Sri Maha Bodhi Tree at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat, Bang Khen, has 2 trees. It is believed that they were planted during the time of Prime Minister Field Marshal P. Phibunsongkhram and another tree by His Excellency U Nu, Prime Minister of Burma in 1955.

I want to build a sandpile on Songkran Day.
During the Songkran Festival, why is it necessary to bring sand into the temple? 🤔
It is assumed that the reason for bringing sand into the temple is that in ancient times, Thai people would walk around barefoot. When entering a temple, in the past, temples would pour sand for monks to walk and meditate, which is a tradition from Sri Lanka. Buddhists who entered the temple might accidentally step on it and have grains of sand stick to their feet. Therefore, during the Songkran Festival, sand is brought to offer to the temple so that they do not become indebted to the monks by taking something from the monks (i.e. sand) with them unintentionally.
Will there be another sand pile this year?

Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Woramahawihan, Bangkok
Wat Phra Sri Mahathat was granted permission to be a monastery on 20 March 1941 and became a first-class royal temple, Woramahawihan type, on 30 June 1942.[1] It was built during the time when Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram was the Prime Minister. He proposed to the Cabinet to build a temple near the Monument to Protect the Constitution to commemorate the democratic regime and scheduled for completion in time for National Day, which was 24 June 1941. The Cabinet resolved to build a temple and named it Wat Prachathipatai. During the construction, Rear Admiral Thawan Thamrongnawasawat (at the time he was the rank of Captain Luang Thamrongnawasawat) traveled to India to request the relics of the Lord Buddha, including 5 branches of the Bodhi tree from the tree that was inherited from the tree where the Lord Buddha resided and attained enlightenment, along with soil from the pilgrimage sites, namely the place of birth, enlightenment, the place of the first sermon, and the place of nirvana. The government invited the relics of the Lord Buddha. The Bodhi tree branches and the soil were enshrined in the temple under construction. The temple was named Wat Phra Sri Mahathat and was dedicated as a residence on June 24, 1942.

Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Woramahawihan, Bang Khen
Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Woramahawihan, Bangkhen is a first-class royal temple. It was originally called Wat Prachathipatai and is located near the current Bangkhen roundabout. This temple has a history of politics during the time of Field Marshal P. Phibunsongkhram. It was renamed Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Woramahawihan because the relics of the Lord Buddha were brought from India to be enshrined inside a beautiful golden pagoda covered with another layer of white pagoda. Inside the pagoda, you can go in and chant and meditate. There are 4 entrances and exits, with good ventilation, cool and peaceful air. There are morning and evening prayers led by nuns. Outside, there is a Bodhi tree that the embassy brought branches of the Bodhi tree from the pilgrimage sites in India and planted on the island in the middle of the water on both sides of the main pagoda. You can walk there and sit and feed the fish. The atmosphere in the temple is peaceful and shady. There are large trees providing shade and green areas for relaxation. - Getting to the temple is easy and convenient. You can go by private car, with plenty of parking. If you don't have a car, you can take a bus because it is near the Bangkhen bus station. Or if you want to be more convenient, you can take the BTS and get off at Wat Phra Sri station.
- This temple is open for worship every day, from early morning until the evening after the evening prayers (08.00 - 20.00).

One-day tour in Bangkok 🗿 taking a 4-baht train to the exotic ancient Siam
Bangkok's surroundings are really worth a visit
This trip is to check in the exotic Ayutthaya
The 4-yuan train arrived, full of experience

🚞Transportation:
Take a train from Bangkok Grand Station, and it will take about 50 minutes to reach Ayutthaya, the former capital of ancient Siam. The train ticket is only 20 baht (about 4rmb), the carriage is not air-conditioned, but the windows are open all the way, and the wind is cool 🍃
⚠️It is best to arrive at the train station more than 40 minutes in advance, otherwise you may not be able to buy a train ticket for that time.
It is very convenient to take a taxi locally, just grab it, and there are also two-wheeled vehicles at the entrance of the scenic area. On the way back, you can take a songthaew to the bus station and take a mini bus back to Bangkok

🏖The main attraction of Ayutthaya is the temple
There are Mahathat Temple, Ratchaburana Temple, Yachamonkong Temple, etc.
It is difficult to visit all the temples in one day
It is recommended to visit the ancient sites of Ayutthaya for two days and one night
If there is only one day or half a day
It is recommended to focus on three temples: Mahathat Temple, Ratchaburana Temple, Yachamonkong Temple

Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Woramahawihan
📞Hello Hello, I heard it and answered.
We are at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat, a famous temple in Bang Khen area. This temple was just built during the government of Field Marshal P. Phibunsongkhram to be a monument of democratic governance. It was originally called Wat Prachathipatai. The location of the construction is near the Monument to Protect the Constitution.
While it was being built, it received the relics of the Lord Buddha, a branch of the Bodhi tree, and soil from the pilgrimage site in India, so the name was changed to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat.
This temple is similar to Wat Benchamabophit both inside and outside.
To get to this temple, you can take the Pink Line and the MRT, and then walk along the Skywalk to the temple.

🙏It is an old temple, built in 1941. It has important permanent objects, namely the white Sri Mahathat Chedi, which stands out as a unique identity. Inside, there is a small golden chedi enshrining the Buddha's relics. On the walls, there are niches containing the ashes of those who have served the country. The temple is spacious and shady with large trees. You can worship the Buddha, pay homage to the Buddha's relics, and make merit according to your faith at various points.
🚝 Convenient transportation, connected to the Green and Pink Lines of the BTS, get off at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Station.
🚗 If you drive, there is a lot of parking space in the temple.
