🙏Wat Pathum Wanaram Ratchaworawihan was originally a royal rice field. In 1853, King Rama IV decorated it as a lotus pond. The pond on the north side was the royal palace area, and the pond on the south side was a boating area for government officials and the general public. He named this area 'Pathumwan'. Then, Wat Pathum Wanaram was built on the edge of the outer pond to honor Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
🗺People like to call it 'Wat Sa Pathum' or 'Wat Sa'. When the temple was completed, he invited Lao monks from Wat Bowonniwet Vihara to be the abbot because the people living in this area were a group of Lao people who were rounded up from Vientiane.
🏰Ubosot, a small building with a gable in the shape of a royal crown, the royal symbol of King Rama IV. The lower part is decorated with lotus buds, surrounded by sema stones. Inside, there are murals telling the story of Indra's heaven. The principal Buddha image in the Ubosot is called Phra Sai, a Buddha image in the Laotian art style.
🛕 The main pagoda is a bell-shaped pagoda.
🏰 The chapel is a large building with a protruding porch in front. Inside, there are Phra Soem and Phra Saen, Lan Xang Buddha images brought from Laos.
🙏 Phra Soem has a legend with two other Buddha images, Phra Sai and Phra Suk, which are said to have been built by the daughter of the Lan Xang king. Phra Soem is also considered one of the most beautiful Lan Xang Buddha images in Thailand.
🏞 Inside, there are murals, pictures of the Royal Barge Procession, and the story of Sri Thanachai, a very popular story in Thailand and familiar to Lao people.
🏕 And behind the temple, outside the wall past the Bodhi tree, is the location of the Buddhist school. There is a stupa enshrining the royal ashes, royal ashes, and the ashes of many members of the Mahidol royal family, including His Majesty King Mahidol Adulyadej Vikrom, the father of Her Majesty Queen Sri Savarindira, Her Royal Highness Princess Valaya Alongkorn, King Rama VIII, Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the mother of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, etc.
