Wat Lokaya Sutha: A Serene Morning Visit
#thailandtrip #ayutthaya
Visiting Wat Lokaya Sutha early in the morning was a truly peaceful experience. The vast reclining Buddha, draped in its saffron robe, looked magnificent against the soft morning light, its calm expression radiating serenity. Without the usual crowds, the atmosphere felt almost meditative, with only the sounds of nature accompanying my quiet exploration of the ruins. The sprawling grounds, though weathered by time, still held a majestic charm, inviting reflection and admiration. Starting the day here offered a moment of tranquility and connection to Ayutthaya’s rich history.

Place: Wat Lokkayasutha, Ayutthaya
Highlight: Wat Lokkayasutharam, an old abandoned temple, with only the remains of the building base, a large slate sema stone in Ayutthaya art. This pair of sema stones clearly shows that this temple was originally a very large royal temple. When looking down from the aerial map, you can clearly see the plan of three large buildings behind the reclining Buddha... and there is also a large old reclining Buddha that is more than 80 meters long.
