💯 Wat Chi Chang, Hat Yai, after the earthquake, is still a beautiful and peaceful place. Although there may be some minor damage, overall, the temple still preserves the beautiful architecture and uniqueness of the Chinese temple very well. Visitors can still feel the sacredness and peace within the temple.
💢 The atmosphere around the temple is still home to a long-standing Chinese community, making the temple area still have a strong Chinese cultural atmosphere. Tourists can still walk around and admire the beautiful architecture and worship the sacred objects within the temple as usual.

The most lovely Chinese temple in Thailand
If this is not the cutest Chinese temple,
Wat Chi Chang, Hat Yai!
A Chinese temple decorated mainly in white and decorated with colorful patterns of tiles, walls, pillars, animal zodiacs, and flower patterns. Everything is very pleasing to the eyes and mind.
In the past, 'Wat Chi Chang' was not like this. But after the major flood that damaged the entire city, it was completely demolished and rebuilt. It became like this. Anyone who comes to Hat Yai must stop by.
If you are not a religious person, I would like you to try to stop by. Come and see the art.
Because it was newly built, it is really beautiful.

In the past, this temple was just a small shrine, which was built in 1936 by Mr. Kengtang Lao, a Chinese man who came to do business in Hat Yai. Inside the first floor of the temple of Wat Chi Chang, there are many Buddha statues and deities, such as the Buddha statue in the attitude of stopping relatives, the god Guan Yu, and the thousand-armed Guanyin. Anyone who wants to pay homage and ask for blessings is welcome to come to this temple every day. The architecture here is very beautiful.

Wat Chi Chang, Wat Metta Kuson, Hat Yai
"Wat Chi Chang" For almost a century, this temple has stood tall in the heart of Hat Yai city. Wat Chi Chang is located on Supasarnrangsan Road. It is another important place that has its own name, the Chi Chang area. It is an area with many delicious foods and famous products of Hat Yai gathered in this area. One reason may be because it is near Kim Yong Market, which is the largest retail and souvenir market in Songkhla and Hat Yai.
This temple is called "Chi Xiang Yi" in Chinese. If we translate it into Thai, it means "Wat Metta Kuson", which is a temple in Mahayana Buddhism. In the past, this temple was just a small shrine with the deity Lu Zhou (one of the 8 immortals) as the presiding deity. People generally call this shrine "Lu Zhou Shrine".
Wat Chi Chang is a 4-storey white building decorated with tiles. They say that it was designed using Thai, Chinese and Tibetan art. You can walk around the temple to see the beautiful Buddha images and unique architecture, which are completely different from Thai temples. It is beautiful and attracts you to walk in and see. When you get closer, it's even more beautiful. Each side of the temple wall is a unique picture of Hat Yai in the past. You can take pictures at every corner of the temple.
Inside the first floor of the temple, there are many Buddha statues and deities, such as the Buddha statue in the attitude of stopping relatives, the god Guan Yu, and the thousand-armed Guan Yin. Anyone who wants to pay homage and ask for blessings is invited to come to this temple every day. All spiritual people, if you come to Hat Yai, must not miss coming to this temple. #VisitHatYai #HatYai #ChineseTemple #BeautifulTemplesAroundThailand

Cishan Temple – A Place of Kindness and Faith
Cishan Temple is both a place of worship and a center for community charity. The temple combines elements of Buddhist and Chinese folk beliefs, with colorful statues, bright lanterns, and intricate wall carvings.
When I visited, volunteers were busy preparing vegetarian meals for local residents in need. The atmosphere was filled with kindness and mutual respect. Inside the main hall, the Buddha statue is flanked by guardian deities, each symbolizing protection and good fortune.
Travelers will appreciate the temple’s welcoming environment and the chance to observe acts of generosity in action. If you visit, consider making a small donation—it helps support their charitable programs and preserves this beautiful cultural site.

Lai Wai, a small cafe with a view of Wat Chi Chang, Hat Yai.
🍃☕ This time I stopped by Hat Yai, I intended to worship at Wat Chi Chang… and then I found a sweet and mellow cafe opposite the temple called “Lai Wai”.
This place is more than just a cafe, it is also a shop selling beautifully designed rattan products and a small hostel in one place. The atmosphere is warm and there are many cute photo spots, both in front of the shop, rattan work, and various props that are carefully arranged in every corner.
I tried ordering the shop’s own tea and coffee recipe. The aroma is fragrant and the taste is mellow. Drinking it is refreshing. You also get to take home a cute rattan basket as a souvenir.
If you visit Wat Chi Chang, don’t forget to stop by Lai Wai to add some sweetness. You will know that a small cafe in the middle of the city… has charm that is no less than anywhere else.
