Pak Tai Temple in Wan Chai
Today I went to Wanchai to see the exhibition and walked around the old Wanchai Market. When I arrived at the Blue House, I realized that the Temple of the Northern God is nearby. Let's go and have a look.
The Yuxu Temple (Northern Emperor Temple) in Wanchai, located on Longan Street in Wanchai, is a legal monument. It was built in the first year of Tongzhi (1862) by nearby residents and completed in the second year of Tongzhi (1863). It is now under the management of the Chinese Temple Committee.
Temples in Hong Kong are generally smaller in size. The Temple of the Northern Gods has a total of three halls, which can be said to be the crown of temples in Hong Kong Island. According to the inscriptions in the temple, the Northern Emperor Temple in Wanchai was renovated in the 8th year of Tongzhi (1869) and the 17th year of the Republic of China (1928). The Chinese Temple Committee spent more than $10 million in 2005 to carry out major repairs to the temple.
The main hall enshrines the three-meter-high main god, the Northern Emperor. In front of the statue of the Northern Emperor, there are standing statues of the four marshals, which are majestic in shape. Like many temples in Hong Kong, in addition to the Northern Emperor, the temple also enshrines gods such as Tai Sui, San Qing, Guan Di, Guan Yin, Tin Hau, Western Buddha Mother, Mother Yu Shan, Ji Gong, God of Wealth, Bao Gong and Dragon Mother.
