Escape from the City Life to Waiao Beach🏖️

Waiao beach is located in Toucheng Township, Yilan. Its scenic beach features a variety of water activities such as surfing and parasailing. It has beautiful view and perfect weather. There are plenty of small shops near the beach offering beverages and surfing equipment rental. Highly recommend for someone who is learning how to surf. However, there is not much public transportation so I suggest you to take taxi.

such a wonderful place, not so far from Taipei. Air is super fresh. water is like tears clean. so many young people around. nearby great seafood restaurants, not expensive. but you have to bring a lot of sunblocks, otherwise, you will burn in a second. great place for a weekend picnic with friends - on the beach have umbrellas and tablets to rent. and of course, this is a paradise for beginners surfers. #summertrip#gourmetsummer

Wai'ao Beach in Toucheng, Yilan

Wai'ao Beach is located north of Wushi Harbor. With its flat, clean sands and white waves, it is a favorite spot for surfers. Across the blue ocean, you can faintly see Guishan Island in the distance. Besides swimming, this area is also a hub for extreme sports like paragliding and surfing. Visitors can stroll along the inner path of the northern breakwater of Wushi Harbor to enjoy the spectacular view of Guishan Island. They can also visit the Wai'ao Service Area, which officially opened in August 2008. After playing in the water at the beach, soaking in a hot spring is so relaxing!

It's another cloudy day, perfect for water activities. While enjoying the view of Guishan Island from a distance, I noticed that the sand erosion along the Yilan coast is quite severe. The only place left to dip our feet is Wai'ao Beach, so off we go! The waves are really small, and the water is very shallow, making it a safe place for kids to play. After playing in the water, there's a vendor offering a rinse for 10 NTD. Then, we head back to Toucheng Train Station to eat Grandma's shaved ice. After playing in the water, the dog got hungry and chose a place that serves potstickers. After filling up, we cross the street and head to Jiaoxi for a hot spring bath before returning to Taipei. Yilan Toucheng Wai'ao Beach is so much fun

Yilan's unique half-mountain, half-sea scenery is fully displayed at Wai'ao Beach. What's more special is that you can also take pictures of Turtle Island~ The sand at Wai'ao is dark-colored, and the beach is really clean~ You can play in the water but not swim, and the waves at Wai'ao are relatively strong, so be sure to pay attention to safety when you go. There is a coin-operated washing area at the entrance next to the parking lot, and hot showers are also provided, which is very considerate.
