[2025 Hanoi Attraction] Travel Guide for Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (Updated Mar)

It was a short trip to Hanoi. We visited Hoan Kiem Lake (Hồ Hoàn Kiếm). We started our trip with a stroll around this scenic lake, and visited the Ngoc Son Temple located on an island in the lake. 📍 Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi We also visited Hanoi Old Quarter. Wandering through the bustling streets, exploring traditional shops and local market, Dong Xuan Market.A large market where you can find everything from food to clothing and souvenirs. We really enjoy our time there, exploring local foods and vibes ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📍Dong Xuan, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi We then visited Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre. We got the chance to enjoy a traditional water puppet show, a unique Vietnamese art form. 📍57B Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi We also visited Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. We visited the final resting place of Vietnam's revolutionary leader, Ho Chi Minh. Nearby, we also see the Presidential Palace and the One Pillar Pagoda. 📍 2 Hung Vuong, Dien Bien, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi We also explored the Temple of Literature (Văn Miếu Quốc Tử Giám) and Vietnam's first university, dedicated to Confucius, scholars, and sages. 📍58 Quoc Tu Giam, Van Mieu, Dong Da District, Hanoi We then visited the most famous Train Street. We saw a train passing through a narrow street while enjoying a coffee at a nearby cafe. 📍Alley 224 Le Duan, Kham Thien, Dong Da District, Hanoi We also explored Vietnam Museum of Ethnology. We managed to learn about the diverse cultures and ethnic groups of Vietnam through various exhibits. 📍 Nguyen Van Huyen Road, Cau Giay District, Hanoi We also explored Hoa Lo Prison (Maison Centrale). We visited the historic prison, also known as the "Hanoi Hilton," where Vietnamese revolutionaries and American POWs were held. 📍 Hoa Lo, Tran Hung Dao, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi Just to recommend my favorite restaurant in Hanoi, Bún Chả Hương Liên. We tried the Bún chả (grilled pork with noodles) which was very delicious ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📍24 Le Van Huu, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi 💰Around 50,000 VND per person (~$2.50) Another restaurant that I would recommend would be near to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Cha Ca Thang Long. Apart from the usual indoor displays of artifacts and models, this museum re-constructed ethnic houses with interior decorations and furnitures. This made the experience alot more realistic and wholesome as compared to seeing relics through a glass. Entrance tickets costs VND 40,000, with options for guided tours at a separate cost.
