Vegetarian restaurant in the first row of the Kamo River view in Kyoto, Japan: Veg Out
The vegetarian restaurant #vegout on the Kamogawa Shichijo Bridge is right at one end of the bridge. The large floor-to-ceiling windows face the Kamogawa River. It’s the first row of beautiful river views, and people can’t help but take a few more glances when passing by. You really want to go in and sit down!
“Veg Out” is a vegetarian restaurant (five spice vegetarian), but the name of the restaurant is Veg Out! It's very interesting. The food sold varies according to the time of day, and is divided into three time periods: morning, noon, and afternoon.
Breakfast is served from 9:00 to 10:30, and is mainly based on sourdough bread plates, with three flavors: roasted seasonal vegetables, avocado, and banana. Lunch is from 11:30-15:00, and includes Mexican tacos, coconut milk curry, vegetable plates and Buddha bowls (vegan). Afternoon tea time is from 15:00-18:00, and there are desserts and coffee.
The store uses a large number of flowers and plants to decorate the wooden furniture. The bright light shining through the floor-to-ceiling windows extends the beauty and leisure of the Kamogawa River into the store, making the entire space very comfortable. It is so pleasant to watch people coming and going on the bridge and the clear water of Kamogawa flowing.
We visited during breakfast and chose a window seat with a river view. There was lavender planted on the small balcony outside the window! I ordered sourdough bread with roasted vegetables and lettuce. Japanese people really don’t eat much leafy vegetables. Is it enough to just drink daily vegetables? I chose Kenyan beans for the hand-brewed coffee, which is mellow, smooth and delicious.
