For those who love to travel around the world, this is surely a place that everyone dreams of visiting at least once. I visited the Uyuni Salt Flats for the first time in about 10 years, and although the gritty, simple townscape hadn't changed, I felt that it had become easier to travel, and the internet environment was now in place to access Instagram in the middle of the salt flats, and I really felt the evolution of the times. The first time I went to the Uyuni Salt Flats, it was in April, which is the border between the rainy season and the dry season. This time, it was right in the middle of the rainy season in February. Of course, you have a higher chance of seeing the mirror-like surface that Japanese people like in the rainy season, but what I felt when I went there this time in the rainy season was... It's obvious, but it rains a lot, so it's a little difficult to see the salt flats in good conditions!! That's because if it rains a lot... - To begin with, it's cloudy, so the mirror-like scenery is a bit tricky (The best condition for mirror-like scenery is when blue sky and clouds are visible at the same time) - Even if it's sunny, if it rains the day after it, there are a lot of bubbles floating on the salt lake and it's difficult to see clearly - It often rains at night, so there are few opportunities to see the starry sky clearly even if you go on a night tour ...So, the weather was better in February when it was said that the dry season was about to begin and there was little water, and I was able to see the starry sky, which was my only chance. This time, I tried the night tour twice, but I couldn't see the stars. I was looking forward to seeing the stars that looked like they were spilling out of that sky, but... - Because there is little water, if you want to see the mirror-like scenery, you should be taken by a local guide with knowledge (you can't go wrong with Hotaka) - It gets very cold in the mornings and evenings as it becomes autumn, so don't forget to take measures against the cold If you are careful about these things, I personally think that it is better to visit in April, which is the beginning of the dry season, rather than in the middle of the rainy season. One of the biggest goals of my solo trip to South America was the Uyuni Desert🫡 I am very susceptible to altitude sickness, so I had a hard time, but it was still a place worth visiting🥹 🚌 I arrived at Uyuni after a 16-hour night bus ride from the Bolivian capital La Paz ✅ The tour is really famous among Koreans ㅋㅋㅋ I used the Oasis Tour as a day tour! You can book the tour by going to the local tour agency and asking! The tour also included lunch, so I ate lunch prepared in the middle of the Uyuni Desert❤️👍 The guide took really good pictures, so it was the best😆 ‼️I went in October 2023, and it gets really cold at night when the sun goes down. It wasn’t until I returned to Salar de Uyuni this year, that I realized how blessed we were to get these conditions the first time around. When these photos were taken back in 2020, I was blown away by the surreal beauty, but I assumed the salt flats always looked like this. Turns out, they don’t. 🤦🏻‍♀️ But I don’t regret going back.
