Halla Mountain's Yeongsil Trail and Azaleas
June at Halla Mountain is a season of azalea fields.
It was my first attempt at hiking Halla Mountain. I woke up early in the morning, prepared myself, and drove to the starting point of the Yeongsil Trail. The road leading to the entrance was already stunning, with beautiful trees and a serene mountain path. At the trailhead, I was greeted by charming short bamboo plants.
As I trudged through the monotonous beginning and endless stairs, I started to feel exhausted. But then, new landscapes began to unfold—an open sky, mountains, and trees.
The steep stone stairs made me groan, and the thought of climbing even more stairs ahead was daunting. However, the scenery of unique rock formations and low-growing azaleas gradually emerged, making me forget the fatigue.
The white junipers, the low-lying azaleas, and the strong mountain breeze were breathtaking. As I climbed closer to the summit, the azaleas became more abundant, and the trees changed to new varieties.
After the endless stairs, I reached a flat decked area, and there it was—the magnificent azalea field. It was so stunning that I felt like my breath was taken away, and I couldn't help but marvel at the view. Although the photos couldn't fully capture the beauty, it was truly mesmerizing.
That day, there was a light drizzle and some mist, which added to the magical atmosphere.
I could see Baengnokdam, the crater lake at the peak of Halla Mountain. Achieving one of my bucket list goals—hiking Halla Mountain—made me incredibly happy. Although I didn’t make it all the way to Baengnokdam, I still felt proud of myself.

"Hallasan Mountain is a hiker’s dream. I chose the Seongpanak trail to the summit, which took around 8 hours round trip. The changing scenery along the way—from lush forests to volcanic terrain—kept the journey exciting. Reaching the crater lake at the summit felt incredibly rewarding. Even if you don’t make it to the top, shorter trails like Eoseungsaengak offer stunning views. The air was crisp, and the tranquility was unparalleled. Make sure to pack enough water and snacks. Hallasan is a true gem, perfect for adventure enthusiasts who want to connect with nature."

If you come to Jeju Island in winter, you must go to Hana Mountain to experience the snow scenery. Mount Hallasan is the second highest peak on the Korean Peninsula and a volcano, with an altitude of 1,947 meters.

Snow-covered mountains, sea of clouds and sunrise
I climbed Hallasan Mountain and watched the sunrise to celebrate the new year of 2025.
A sea of clouds wavy under a pure white snow-covered mountain,
Our country's Hallasan Mountain covered in snow is really beautiful.
Taking a picture of my life while receiving the energy of Hallasan Mountain📷🤳

My first climb in life.. Challenge~!!
I used to only climb the hill behind my neighborhood once or twice a year..
Someone said..
Anyone can climb Mt. Halla~ If you have the will!
I climbed Mt. Halla because I was hooked on this one phrase.
I thought about giving up several times during the climb because my knees were not good..
But I finished climbing Baekrokdam with that one phrase, will~
When I came up, I had to crawl down because of my knees, so it took me 1.5 times longer than others~
But it was a day where I felt confident and accomplished that I could do it too~
You guys should try it too~!!
If you have the will, anyone can reach the summit~!!

I lived in Jeju Island for 3 months, and I'm going to upload a collection of photos I took of Jeju at that time. I've uploaded a lot of photos of overseas scenery, but I feel like I haven't uploaded any pretty places in Korea, so I'm going to upload a lot of photos from Jeju now!

Baekrokdam in Jeju Island (good weather)
You need to make an online reservation in advance to go to Baeknokdam. There are also two courses, and I climbed through Gwaneumsa Temple. It is shorter, but there are stairs of death. Honestly, any healthy Korean citizen can easily climb it if they take enough rest. I recommend bringing at least 500ml of water per person, and 1L per person. Hiking shoes are also essential. In fact, Nike running shoes are fine. My friend wore sneakers on an unplanned climb and got 3 blisters on both feet. Don't get depressed right away when you reach the peak of Baeknokdam because the weather is bad. It rained continuously before I climbed and 30 minutes after I climbed, but soon the weather turned terrible. If that doesn't work, just wait until next time and go down. I still recommend waiting for more than an hour.

Tips for hiking Mt. Halla in the fall when the weather is just right!
Fall Hallasan, not too hot or too cold! If you are a hiker, now is the best time to go hiking🥾
📍Hallasan
Fall Hallasan is also a must-have for hiking boots and hiking sticks! If you are not a frequent hiker, this will be even more helpful.
It is a little chilly at the bottom of the mountain, and cold at the top, but the way up can be much hotter than you think, so I recommend wearing several thin layers if possible.⛰️
And since it is hot, you should drink water often, so you should bring plenty.💧
If you are a beginner, one tip is to go up the Seongpanak Course and come down the Gwaneumsa Course! But it is not easy..
Hallasan is hard and hard, but it is twice as rewarding, so try it in the fall!

Make sure to climb Mt. Halla in winter🙂
It was my first time on a snowy mountain, so there were some slippery places and it was very difficult, but
It was pure white, refreshing, cool, and so so good
Crampons and hiking sticks are essential ⭐️
You can rent them at the gear shop
I took pictures all the way to Baekrokdam and came down, and even though I really hate hiking, Mt. Halla in the snow was the best 🏔️
