Lacock Village, England
Lacock Village History
The name Lacock dates back to Saxon times when the first permanent settlers lived beside the Bede Brook which runs through the middle of the village. They called it "lacuc" or "creek."
Medieval Lacock
The medieval landscape is dominated by Melksham Forest, which runs to the village and stretches for 33 miles to the south and east.
Settlement began to form around the church, which is reflected in the irregular lines of Church Street. The rest, however, is a medieval planned town, carefully laid out on a grid of other streets visible today. Explore the village of Lacock
There’s a lot to explore in the village of Lacock: quaint traditional stone cottages, a medieval tithe barn and a village church.
History on the Street
Why not start your trip to Lacock by stopping in the old shop windows on the High Street? In the late 19th century the building was used as a coffee tavern, after the First World War it became a stationery shop and in 1966 a post office was incorporated.
It remained in the same family until it closed in the early 1980s. The last resident, Miss Butler, arranged the shop windows in the style of early 20th century displays and they have remained the same ever since.

Lacock Village

Lacock village is near the town of Chippenham (3 miles) in North Wiltshire.
The village, which dates from the 13th century and has many limewashed half-timbered and stone houses, was used as a location in the TV and film productions of Pride and Prejudice, Moll Flanders and Emma. The Abbey also featured in the recent Harry Potter films. The village is owned almost in its entirety by the National Trust and attracts many visitors by virtue of its unspoiled appearance.Picturesque English cottages as far as you can see and there’s even an honesty box system here for buying fresh farm produce.

Tithe Barn Lacock
#celebratewithtrip
The tithe barn is built with blocks of limestone rubble supporting a cruck-framed roof. The roof is topped with heavy slate tiles. The interior is split into eight bays by large cruck trusses supported on blocks of dressed stone. Some of the timber beams show carpenter's marks, and some bear apotropaic protection symbols (symbols meant to ward off evil). The floor is made of beaten earth.
The tithe barn is located at the corner of High Street and East Street in the heart of Lacock and just a minute's stroll from the entrance to Lacock Abbey.

Worth a day trip from London
🏠This 800-year old village is very quaint and beautiful. It is famous as a filming site for Harry Porter and Pride and Prejudice movie.
Definitely not a miss if you are Harry Porter fan.
The abbey remained a nunnery until the suppression of Roman Catholic institutions in England in the 16th century; it was then sold to Sir William Sharington who converted the convent into a residence where he and his family lived.
The village is a beautiful to visit in any season and still looks exactly like it did 200 years ago. Get lost and wandering around here for plenty if photo opportunities.
Getting here-You can get a train from Paddington to Chippenham and from there take a bus to Lacock

Day trip from London | Lacock Village in the Cotswolds
The honey-colored medieval streets of the Cotswolds are a fairy-tale-like worldview that attracts attention from women 🍯
There are many locations for Harry Potter, a masterpiece of the world, and it is very popular among enthusiasts 🤩
It would be a shame to give up on the Cotswolds because of the difficulty in access!! So, this time, I will introduce how to get to Lacock Village in the Cotswolds, which I actually visited on my own.
[Transferring trains and buses 🚌]
❶Start at London's Paddington Station. There is a bronze statue of Paddington Bear.
❷From Paddington Station to Chippenham Station. It takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes.
❸Take the bus to the bus stop called "The George". It is the "34X" bus from bus stop 7 at Chippenham bus terminal.
The journey takes about 20 minutes.
By the way, the bus driver asked me if I wanted to ride the bus back, and when I said Yes, I was able to buy a round trip ticket.
It was 5.50 pounds.
❹ Get off at "The George" and turn left,
and you'll find yourself in a fairy tale world.
The main street of Lacock village is High Street.
Just past High Street is Lacock Abbey, famous for being a Harry Potter filming location.
In addition, the church that was the model for the church in Godric's Hollow and Harry's birthplace are also nearby.
⚠️ If you want to visit other villages in the Cotswolds,
it is recommended to leave London early in the morning as there are few buses.
You can find the timetable by searching Google Maps, so it's a good idea to check it in advance.
The time can be off overseas, but in the UK it was quite reliable and convenient.
Looking at it this way, doesn't it feel like you could go?
It would be a waste to give up on this wonderful opportunity, so please give it a try😆

Harry Potter Journey | Walking the "Corridor" of your dreams
Lacock is one of the villages in the Cotswolds where honey-colored medieval streets remain. One of the reasons why the village is famous is probably because it was used as a filming location for Harry Potter. Here is Lacock Abbey, one of the popular spots for Harry Potter pilgrimages in the village of Lacock. 📍Lacock Abbey Lacock Abbey is a monastery built in 1232. Is it a farm on the premises? The sheep are grazing and bleating. At the end of the grassland, you will find "that corridor" of Hogwarts in a medieval building. The courtyard visible from this corridor is also used in the scene where Harry flies Hedwig. The Hogwarts courtyard was definitely like this. However, there were many other Harry Potter fans besides me, and many people were taking commemorative photos, so it was quite difficult to take a picture. Please persevere 😂
Next to it are the rooms where Professor Quirrell taught "Defense Against the Dark Arts" and Professor Snape taught "Potions" in the Philosopher's Stone.
It feels lonely because there is no set, but when you come here, you can see it, you can see it! !
There is also a museum on the premises, and you can see the rooms and treasures of a good old English mansion, so there are plenty of things to enjoy other than Harry Potter.
Address: Lacock, Chippenham SN15 2LG
Tickets🎫: Lacock Abbey and other museums combined ticket €13.40£
It is safe to make reservations online.
Opening hours vary depending on the closing day and season, so be sure to check the official website⚠️

[England] The World of Harry Potter! Lacock!
This is Lacock, a town in the Cotswolds, famous as a filming location for Harry Potter!
It takes about 2 hours one way by train from London to get to the Cotswolds, and the train fare is about 5,000 yen!
The Cotswolds is quite large, so I recommend you decide in advance where you want to go!
This is famous for the home of Harry Potter's parents, Professor Slughorn's house, and the church called Lacock Abbey, where many scenes were filmed!
Lacock Abbey is closed in January and February, so I couldn't see it, but the cute townscape was wonderful!
There is also a bus that runs only once every hour to 30 minutes, so time management was important! #breathtakingview #coupletrip #overseastrip #England #Englandtrip
