Spent a perfect 4 days in Guilin and Yangshuo viewing the incredible karst mountains, taking things slowly and relaxing in nature and beautiful scenery. There are so scenic spots along the Li and Yulong rivers. We preferred the less crowded spots. Recommend staying in Guilin for 1 night and Yangshuo for 2 or 3. There's a slight temperature difference in the morning and evening, just bring a thin jacket and that's enough🧥. 2️⃣ When taking a bamboo raft on the Yulong River, if you encounter a raft worker with a bad temper, don't be polite😡, directly find the person in charge of the scenic area to switch to a better one! Asking for tips upfront? 🙅No way! 3️⃣ The Li River cruise🛥️ is not in Yangshuo, but in Lingchuan County of Guilin city. The pier is 20 kilometers away from the city center, a 35-minute drive. To cruise the Li River, you need to get to Guilin city first, then head to the pier the next morning. There are only two boats at 9:30 am and 10:00 am, one-way only. 4️⃣ Want to check in at the 20 yuan RMB background? Recommend taking the Li River cruise, the scenery is absolutely beautiful😍, and there are fewer people! Or go to the 'Wangwang Delicious Fish Restaurant' under Xingping Ancient Town, which is the viewing platform, but there might be more people there👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. 5️⃣ Going to Elephant Trunk Hill, don't buy tickets for Zizhou Park, that's to see the back of Elephant Trunk Hill. Elephant Trunk Hill itself is free, just navigate directly there. Note: You can enter and exit through Gate 1, but Gates 2-3 are entry only🚪. 6️⃣ The scenic spots in Guilin are quite scattered, but each has its own characteristics🎨. For example, in Guilin city, there are Elephant Trunk Hill, Sun and Moon Twin Pagodas; in Yangshuo, there's Yulong River, Xianggong Mountain; in Longsheng, there are the Longji Terraces; in Lingchuan, there's the Li River pier; in Lipu, there's Silver Cave. Plan your transportation in advance🗺️. 7️⃣ Guilin has no subway🚇, buses, coaches, and taxis are the main means of transportation. It's not very convenient with large luggage, remember to travel light! 8️⃣ Guilin rice noodles are really delicious! But don't go to Yangshuo to eat them, they are expensive and not authentic. Getting there: Fast train or an airplane directly to the airport. Guilin is a picturesque city in Guangxi, China. From many of the hotel rooftops and balconies you can get really stunning views of the karst mountains and architecture. The two pagodas area is really nice to fly a drone. Located just south of the city centre, this nondescript scenic spot is an oasis in an otherwise busy city. Surrounded by urban development, the lake, trees and bridges offer a nice contrast, especially in the evening, where you may even see bats flying overhead! Walking around the lake, there are various different angles to take photos and videos of the two star-attractions here, the twin pagodas sitting on the edge of the lake. They sit majestically in the water and their reflections tricking you into thinking there's 4! Get here just by walking from the hotel or also by bus or taxi. Parking space is limited, so be aware! Guilin is magical at night. The lights dance on surface of the water in different colors. The smells and noises create an ambience of noisy city life and romantic calm. Take a walk along the river or ride a bike. You can even pay a local to ride you around in a tuk-tuk. There are many food and drink options along the river. Take a cab from your hotel or type in “sun and moon pagoda” into Maps and take a late night stroll. The streets are busy with runners and dog-walkers and ladies doing dance routines to beautiful Chinese music. This is a great place for friends, couples, and families. Guilin - These Pagodas are located in the center of Guilin. You need to pay 35¥ to visit them. You can climb them and will find a nice view from the top. There is an underwater tunnel pass between both pagodas. The Sun pagoda, the taller, has an elevator 😃 so you don't need to use the stairs up and down. This is an excellent place for pictures. I went on a weekday at about 5:30 pm, and there were few people. Next to the pagodas and lake, there is a hotel. On the sixth floor, there is a Coffee place or restaurant called Yi Cafe. From there, you have a lovely view of the pagodas on one side and the Elephant Trunk Hill park. The restaurant served western food. It is worth the visit! #guilin

The Sun and Moon pagoda and Moon hill can be visited in one day. The twin pagodas were not originally built in this place but in 2001 they were reconstructed in Guilin. This pagodas must be seen during the day and night. it is totally worthy to visit this place as the sun pagoda is the tallest bronce pagoda in the world!. The moon hill is a rare gift from nature, you can literally see a whole just passing below the summit of the mountain (hence the name). **Travel Experience in Guilin Twin Towers:** "Visiting the Guilin Twin Towers was an unforgettable experience! The towers, standing majestically against the backdrop of the Li River, offer breathtaking views of the surrounding karst landscape. The architecture is a blend of traditional Chinese design and modern elements, making it a unique sight. I took a boat ride along the Li River to get there, which was an adventure in itself. The serene beauty of the river and the lush greenery along the banks made the journey as enjoyable as the destination. The fare for the boat ride was around ¥50, and I took a local bus from Guilin city center to the boat dock, which cost about ¥2. It's a must-visit spot for anyone traveling to Guilin!"

The hotel driver and butler took us to Jinkeng Dazhai, but after waiting for half an hour, we couldn't get a car. In the end, we had to hire a car from a small shop in the Jinkeng Dazhai parking lot at a price beyond our budget to return to Guilin City. Although the price of the hired car exceeded our budget, the driver from the local shop was exceptionally familiar with the route. He drove fast and steadily, which made me feel a bit more at ease, as I was worried about the dangerous mountain roads. The driver took two hours to complete a three-hour journey and safely delivered us to the No. 2 entrance of Elephant Trunk Hill Park. Elephant Trunk Hill, also known as Elephant Hill, gets its name from the Water Moon Cave in the mountain, which makes it look like an elephant drinking water with its trunk. The Elephant Hill Scenic Area is rated as one of China's 5A national scenic spots, and the park is free to enter. Elephant Hill Park has three entrances, and the information we gathered told us that the No. 2 entrance is the closest to the best viewing spot of Elephant Hill, so we chose this entrance. The number of tourists at the No. 2 entrance of Elephant Hill Park was quite large for winter, at least more than what we saw in Yangshuo and Longsheng. We passed through the entrance, walked down a flight of stairs, and immediately saw Elephant Hill in front of us. We quickly took out our phones to take photos among the crowd. Then, we discovered a China Post Elephant Hill Scenic Area-themed post office below the No. 2 entrance. Inside, we found many beautiful postcards printed with the scenic spots of Guilin (including Elephant Trunk Hill), some of which were even better looking than those outside, and there was a buy-three-get-one-free offer. Some postcards included postage, and you could send them directly from the post office after purchasing. The post office also sold other exquisite souvenirs such as fridge magnets and puzzles. I chose four postcards to buy as souvenirs and gifts. Next, we crossed a small bridge to reach Love Island. Love Island was formed in 1983 when the Guilin city government dredged the Lijiang River and piled up the silt to create the island. Due to its beautiful environment, many couples came to the island for dates, hoping that the "Elephant Hill Water Moon" would be a witness to their love, and that they would eventually become a couple. Today, we can see many love-themed installations on Love Island, including human statues and railings where couples can hang love locks. My spouse and I only took photos in front of the installations and didn't hang a love lock. I wonder if our love will also heat up a few degrees? After leaving Love Island, we headed to the Sun and Moon Pagodas Park. The two scenic spots are quite close, about a five-minute walk. We arrived at the shore of Gui Lake, one of the Two Rivers and Four Lakes, where the Sun and Moon Pagodas are located. The Sun Pagoda is a copper pagoda with nine floors, and the Moon Pagoda is a glazed pagoda with seven floors. The two pagodas are connected by a more than 10-meter-long underwater tunnel. The Sun and Moon Pagodas were originally two Buddhist pagodas from the Tang Dynasty, and were rebuilt in 2001 to become the underground palace museum we see today. From the pagodas, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of the Two Rivers and Four Lakes in Guilin: to the east is Zhiyin Terrace; to the south is Shanhu Small Square; to the west are Yang Bridge, Glass Bridge, Beidou Bridge, and Ancient Banyan Twin Bridges; and to the north is Sun and Moon Bay. We didn't enter the pagodas, only taking distant photos of their beauty. Knowing that the pagodas light up every night—the Sun Pagoda with orange-yellow lights and the Moon Pagoda with blue lights—we decided to come back after dinner to enjoy their night view. We took the last cruise at 8pm at no 1 wharf that sells the tickets along the sun and Moon pagodas. The duration was 70mins. The first stop was to take photos with the sun and moon pagoda as a backdrop. After that we passed thru several bridges, an island with pavilions, we saw the cormorants fishing, went thru a canal dam and ended with song dynasty ladies playing and dance in an olden setting.
