🇭🇰 Fastest way to travel in Hong Kong is by ferry
#seascapes #100WaysOfTravel
Don’t be afraid to travel on the South China Sea when you are in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a coastal city and the fastest way through the traffic is by the sea. There are many types of sea transportation in Hong Kong and Star Ferry is the most economical transport between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. This is also one of the favourite tourist travelling way to experience the laid back side of Hong Kong. It is a short ferry ride and you can also try out different ferry route to other islands like Cheung Chau too.

Hong Kong Star Ferry
#hongkongtrip #hongkongtravel #hongkongscenes As one of the oldest forms of transportation in Hong Kong, the Star Ferry has been faithfully carrying passengers across the harbour for more than a century. Although cross-harbour road and rail tunnels now connect both sides of the harbour, the Star Ferry still holds a dear place in locals’ hearts, providing a scenic way to cross the harbour that provides an up-close view of our iconic skyline, and an experience that is reminiscent of the charms of old Hong Kong. It’s a tourist attraction and popular places to have walked. #Star ferry hongkong

Iconic HK attraction
The Star Ferry is a must ride if you're in HK. It used to be one the few options to cross the harbor before the cross harbor tunnels were built. It is still the cheapest way to get from HK to Kowloon and vice versa. It is much slower than the MTR or bus, but it's much more scenic and fun! So do try it out if you have time.
Along the way, you'll be treated with breathtaking views of the HK skyline. There is an open air section as well as an indoor air conditioned section. I recommend the outdoor section as the views are much better.
Use the Star Ferry for a traditional and historic HK experience that you won't regret!

Hong Kong Story | Take a ride on the Star Ferry with me
Remembering the first time I came to Hong Kong over a decade ago, I stayed in Tsim Sha Tsui and later often stayed on Hong Kong Island. This time, I returned to Tsim Sha Tsui after a long absence, and memories from many years ago instantly reassembled into fragments.
Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier, a 3-dollar ferry ride, almost no people, take some photos, and in the blink of an eye you'll arrive at Central.
Walk through the streets and alleys, from Pottinger Street to Wellington Street, taste the silk stocking milk tea at Lan Fong Yuen (a famous old shop in Central), and have a bowl of wonton noodles at a small shop.
From Central, take the Hong Kong Tram (Ding Ding) to Causeway Bay, and visit Times Square (Causeway Bay) and Sogo (Causeway Bay). If interested, you can also visit the nearby "Egg Waffles" Market, where there are cooked food and dai pai dong on the upper floor.
At night, take a look at the night view of Victoria Harbour, smell the damp sea breeze, and still enjoy the favorite taste of the harbor...

Enjoyable day taking Hong Kong Star Ferry - Central Pier No. 7 to Tsim Sha Tsui
Want a relaxing day with fresh sea breeze and at the same time nice good view of Hong Kong and Victoria Harbour? Yeah greedy one but possible and reachable! That is to take a ferry ride~
Star Ferry costs less than HKD6 per trip but brings you a lot of amusements, entertainment, surprises and convenience of transport. Before entering the gate and payment, restaurants for food and beverages as well as refreshments are available, and convenience store is just right next to the entrance gate. While waiting for the next ferry, the waiting area provides vending machines and viewing area of the Victoria Harbour. It is so amazing looking at the wide open Victoria Harbour and wondering which ferry is the next coming ferry.
We are taking ferry from Central, the Hong Kong Island. Lucky us there are few ferries approaching, the classic green and white ferry and the Hong Kong version of asia red ferry both appeared in front of us!
Weather is nice so we choose the open seats instead of the air-conditioned compartment. Open seats are perfect for taking photos and selfie. This is one of the must-do items in the checklist for visiting Hong Kong!
Just 8 minutes the ferry ride ends at Tsim Sha Tsui. Can do photo taking again across Victoria Habour with the backdrop of Hong Kong Island. After that, can walk along the promenade and have crazy shopping and featured dining at the malls and street shops in Tsim Sha Tsui~
Getting There - MTR Central Station, MTR Hong Kong Station, 2-minute walk from the International Finance Centre in Central/ MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station, 5-minute walk from the start of Star Avenue or Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade
Attractions - Star Ferry, International Finance Centre, Star Avenue, Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, shopping malls and street shops
Hotels - Four Seasons Hotel, Macro Polo Kowloon Hotel, Rosewood Hotel
Food & Restaurants and Shopping - everywhere in the places mentioned above in malls, street shops and hotels

The Star Ferry - Affordable transport in HK
The Star Ferry takes passengers across Victoria Harbour, between Hong Kong Island, and Kowloon.
The ferry is very affordable, and comfortable to ride and it takes you around 8 minutes to reach the other side.
We made use of the ferry with our four month old and 5 year old and it was definitely child and stroller friendly.
The nights views on the ferry were amazing. It is truly an amazing and relaxing experience and many photos can be taken. There are also many attractions and restaurants to explore in the area.

Iconic Commuter Star Ferry, Hong Kong
#meethongkong
The Star Ferry is a commuter icon of Hong Kong. Tracing its origin to 1880, now the current Star Ferry’s ferry is the 4th generation of ferries. The Star Ferry’s ferry plays a vital role in commuting people between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island and is an essential journey for visitors. In addition, the ferry ride is one of the world’s best value-for-money sightseeing trips.
The ferry regularly crosses Victoria Harbour, from Tsim Sha Tsui to Wanchai and from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central in Hong Kong Island. In addition, the ferry also serves the harbor tour for visitors. As part of its central pier, an elegant clock tower lies next to the pier as an icon of the history and character of the Star Ferry, with its identity as an important landmark at the new waterfront in Central.

STAR FERRY
Hong Kong's famous Star Ferry, with roots dating back to 1880, costs only a few Hong Kong Dollars to ride, making it one of the best deals in all of Hong Kong. Victoria Harbour is a hive of activity, and ships of all shapes and sizes chug, zip, or wallow past as the expert captains of the Star Ferries somehow avoid collisions.
As you travel the main route from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island, or more specifically, Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) to Central, it's hard not to be struck by the dense towers of Hong Kong Island, backed by green mountains rising up before you. The breeze off the water is exceptionally refreshing, and the wide-open spaces are a perfect antidote to the tight confines of the city.
Don't worry about scheduling a time to ride the ferry, they leave every few minutes all day long and later into the evening, so it's always easy to get a great seat in the front or along the rail. The return trip from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui is also just as impressive.
If you time it right in the evening, you can catch one of Hong Kong's Symphony of Lights shows. The 360-degree spectacle of laser beams striking the skyscrapers on either side of the harbor is one of the city's free attractions and one of the most popular things to do at night in Hong Kong.

Cheap, nice, good
Cheap, nice, good is a Cantonese saying that literally means good value for money. This could not be more true for the Star Ferry in Hong Kong; the cheapest way to cross the harbor to/from Central or Wan Chai to Tsim Sha Tsui. For less than HKD3.5 you get to cross the world famous Victoria Harbor and are rewarded with stunning views of the cityscape. It's much slower than the MTR but it is a much more scenic and cheap to move about. Additionally it is a very historic experience as it's the oldest way to get across the Harbor. The lower deck is slightly cheaper but the upper deck is already inexpensive. There's air con on the upper deck in summer though. All in all, an experience not to miss!
WB2021
The Star Ferry is a must try in Hong Kong! You can easily go from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central. Yes, you can take the MTR but take the ferry for scenic view and the experience 😂 The cost of the Star Ferry ride is only around 2 HKD, so it is worth it!

With the Star Ferry you are able to travel from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island in a very short time. It‘s a faster and cheaper way than the metro and definitely more fun!

There are two options for public transport between
Tsim Sha Tsui and Central. Apart from the MTR, it is the Star Ferry.
National Geographic magazine once listed the Star Ferry Tour as one of the 50 must-have items in life. This 100-year-old Star Ferry has always been a tool for Hong Kong citizens to shuttle to Victoria Harbour. Even if there are already many undersea tunnels and MTRs, everyone is willing to take it.
I really like this retro ferry, the price is very cheap, 2.5 one way. After visiting the Victoria Harbour, take the Star Ferry to the Central Pier.
Star Ferry I sat once in the day and night, watching the Victoria Harbour on the small wheel, more vibrant, the Victoria Harbour during the day, the light and windy, the Victoria Harbour at night, romantic and moving.
For me, the scenery of Victoria Harbour is not enough again.
Air_Belle.
"Star Ferry" has been praised by National Geographic Travel Magazine as one of the 50 must-see attractions in life. It is also one of the cheapest ways to cross the sea. Our first stop today is Central, then take a ride. Ferry boat.
Recently, I was crazy about the red wall on the Internet. I have to find this wall. In fact, it is almost incomparable with the graffiti wall in Melbourne. It is easy to shoot the wall. It takes time to shoot the no one from the pile of people. What's more, it is such a small street, and there are so many cars passing by. . .
Location: Exit K of Central MTR, head toward Lan Kwai Fong, Hollywood Road (near Caledon Street), and see the wall where the crowd is.

A super down-to-earth way to tour Hong Kong: Star Ferry travel guide.
When you're in Hong Kong, you have to take the Star Ferry!
The journey is even better with you guys. The view of Victoria Harbour is really good, and the average fare is HKD 4. The fare varies slightly depending on the pier you depart from.

1⃣Tsim Sha Tsui Pier: 🚇Tsim Sha Tsui East L3 Exit or Tsim Sha Tsui H Exit
2⃣Central Pier: 🚇Central E Exit
3⃣Wan Chai Pier: 🚇Wan Chai Convention Centre B2 Exit or Wan Chai A2 Exit

The first day of a family trip to Hong Kong with kids at the end of August was really tiring | Lying flat strategy
| Lying flat strategy. Taking a three-and-a-half-year-old kid to Hong Kong on the first day
Morning Guangzhou South - Hong Kong West Kowloon ⌚09:43-10:39
Because we had a kid with us, we went through the manual area for the entire customs process
By the time we got out of the high-speed rail station, it was almost 11:20
🚇 Took the subway straight to the hotel at 12:00
Took a nap with the kid and went out at 14:30
-
Walked to the nearby 'Bull Demon King Clear Soup Curry Specialty Store', the taste was good and suitable for kids. After eating, we took the subway to Tsim Sha Tsui, walked to the Star Ferry Pier to take the Star Ferry, bought an upper deck 🎫 for 5 HKD (ps it was still quite hot on the boat)
After getting off the boat, it was all about queuing, big big big warning (Ferris wheel 🎡 queue, Regal Ice Cream queue, Bus 15 queue as well)
The entire Star Ferry Pier was just crazy queuing, so I suggest everyone avoid weekends, otherwise, you'll be greeted with endless queues
-
Queued for 30 minutes to take Bus 15 to the Peak Tram 🚠
❌❌❌ But there were too many people in line, so we decisively gave up. Luckily, the hotel was just 700 meters away, so we walked there. Just like that, we walked 14,000 steps on the first day without much play. My three-and-a-half-year-old son kept saying he was tired, and indeed the weather was quite hot
-
Swimming at the hotel for half an hour in the evening was very comfortable, the environment was very good, very relaxing. After swimming, we went to a nearby mall to have a Shakeshake
-
👌 That's it for the first day of the family trip to Hong Kong. The hotel we stayed in was very good, and there will be a detailed introduction
Tomorrow we plan to take the Ding Ding tram, the Sunset Roller Coaster, and also want to go to a place suitable for kids. Friends in Hong Kong, please recommend some places

This truly is a STAR Ferry!
The Star Ferry in Hong Kong is an iconic and charming way to experience the city’s harbor. Operating since 1888, it offers a unique and nostalgic journey across Victoria Harbour, providing passengers with stunning views of both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. The ferry ride is not only a practical mode of transportation but also a memorable and picturesque experience. It’s especially enchanting at night when the city lights create a dazzling backdrop. Despite its short duration, the Star Ferry remains a beloved symbol of Hong Kong, blending historical significance with scenic enjoyment.
The price is low too…only 5 HK dollars for a stunning trip!

30 years later, we can still greet Wong Kar-wai's films
"Blossoms" was a hit earlier, and it evokes nostalgia not only for Shanghai in the 1990s but also for the golden age of Hong Kong cinema 🎞️, where Wong Kar-wai's films hold a prominent place.
More than 30 years have passed, which scene 🎬 from Wong Kar-wai's films do you remember the most? Is it the phone booth ☎️ where Andy Lau and Maggie Cheung kiss in "As Tears Go By"? Is it the snack bar in "Days of Being Wild" where that unforgettable minute happens? Or is it the fast-food restaurant in "Chungking Express" that makes your heart flutter 🦋 whenever you hear California Dreamin'?
Previously, we searched for Hong Kong dramas for you, but this time, let's do a special movie check-in ✅ to reminisce about Hong Kong's most beautiful times.
💃 "As Tears Go By"
Maggie Cheung waits for Andy Lau outside the stairs of Mui Wo Pier late at night, then they passionately kiss in the phone booth. With the reconstruction of Mui Wo Pier, it might disappear forever. Fortunately, back in Mong Kok, the Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market 🍉 where Andy Lau reunites with his ex-girlfriend still retains the feel of thirty years ago.
🚬 "Days of Being Wild"
The snack bar where Maggie Cheung worked at the South China Athletic Association is no longer there. Luckily, in the bustling Central district, the place where Maggie Cheung looked at the clock ⏰ and told herself to forget that person from that minute still exists. If you're lucky, you might still see the large clock hanging high up.
In the hidden corners of Mid-Levels, the place where Andy Lau waited for Maggie Cheung's call every night still exists. When you see the old stone 🪨 wall from Conduit Road, you can't help but feel a sense of inexplicable emotion.
🌳 "Chungking Express"
Unfortunately, the "Midnight Express" has long since turned into a convenience store. However, you can still listen 👂🏻 to California Dreamin' and wander near the Central-Mid-Levels escalator, try the dai pai dong dishes that Tony Leung ate, and feel the taste of old Hong Kong at the Graham Street Market.
Of course, don't forget to take the Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui, walk into Chungking Mansions 🏢 and the adjacent Mirador Mansion. Although 30 years have passed, the charm of the movie still remains.
🪽 "Fallen Angels"
Also in Tsim Sha Tsui, the McDonald's 🍔 where Leon Lai and Karen Mok met was originally on Hankow Road. If you like this movie, the Yau Ma Tei where Leon Lai lived has been demolished and rebuilt, and you can only search for his shadow on the platform.
👗 "In the Mood for Love"
The most mesmerizing scene in "In the Mood for Love" is when Su Li-zhen (Maggie Cheung) receives a call from Chow Mo-wan (Tony Leung) and goes to the hotel 🏨 to find him, wearing high heels and walking up and down the stairs. This classic scene's location was rebuilt more than ten years ago, becoming a more fashionable staircase 🪜. Few people pass by here, so you might as well reminisce about the delicate emotions in the movie in the dark corners of the stairs.
As the filming locations gradually disappear 🫥 in the city's development, when we no longer have them, the only thing we can do is not to forget.

Enjoying the Night View on Hong Kong's Star Ferry
The Hong Kong Star Ferry has been a mode of transportation for Hong Kong people since 1950, but it's also a part of the tourist experience. You can see the Symphony of Lights, a famous Hong Kong attraction. Plus, you can take the ferry to Macau.
It was great that you could board the Hong Kong Star Ferry like a bus or subway without a separate reservation. The ferry service is frequent, and the ferries are spacious enough that there's no issue with not being able to board or having to stand.
We mainly used it to cross over from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui, and it was convenient and pleasant.

Ironic Star Ferry of Hong Kong
A trip to HK is definitely not complete without taking the Star Ferry across Victoria Harbour, connecting Hong Kong island and Kowloon. The main route is between Central on Hong Kong island and Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon and vice versa.
You can also take the ferry from Wan Chai to Tsim Sha Tsui. This was the route I took as my hotel was located in Wan Chai. There are 12 ferries operating and I boarded the Meridian Star, which was built in 1958! In fact, Star Ferry has been in operation since 1888!
The trip cost 5 hkd and payable via token (changed with money at the machine) or octopus card and it took 10 mins to cross the harbour. While there are other ways to cross the harbour these days, whether by tunnel or mtr, nothing beats the experience of crossing the harbour in the iconic Star Ferry!

The Star Ferry experience in Hong Kong is nothing short of iconic—a timeless journey that offers a captivating blend of nostalgia, scenic beauty, and practical transportation. From the moment you step aboard one of the Star Ferry's distinctive green-and-white vessels, you embark on a voyage across the shimmering waters of Victoria Harbour, where the city's past and present converge in a symphony of sights and sounds.
As the ferry glides gracefully across the harbor, passengers are treated to panoramic views of Hong Kong's stunning skyline, punctuated by towering skyscrapers, bustling waterfront promenades, and verdant mountain peaks. Against this backdrop, the city's vibrant energy comes to life, with ferries, cargo ships, and traditional junks crisscrossing the harbor, creating a mesmerizing tapestry of movement and color.
But the Star Ferry experience is more than just a scenic cruise—it's also a cherished part of Hong Kong's cultural heritage. Dating back over a century, the Star Ferry has long been a beloved symbol of the city, serving as a lifeline for locals and a beloved attraction for visitors. 1️⃣ McDonald's Hotcakes
Hong Kong and Macau McDonald's breakfast includes 'Hotcakes', which are super super delicious🤤 (Ps: Hong Kong McDonald's breakfast is served until 11 am), and you can choose a McDonald's near your arrival port✔️ I took the high-speed train to 'West Kowloon Station', and there is a McDonald's 7min walk away😍
The hotcakes are really awesome, you can have them with butter or maple syrup, I personally recommend butter🧈, it's explosively delicious💥💥💥 (A set meal is about 37HKD)
-
2️⃣ Central Ferris Wheel🎡
20HKD per person, go up and spin three times, it won't take too long, and you can enjoy the view of Hong Kong (it's prettier at night, I think)✔️
From Central MTR Station→ just look up and walk towards the Ferris Wheel!
-
3️⃣ Star Ferry🚢
Ferry tickets are just over 5 RMB, and now you can scan to pay in most places, so it's OK not to carry Hong Kong dollars in Hong Kong‼️
The ferry has many trips, no need to time it, it's basically whenever you arrive, you can go, back and forth between Tsim Sha Tsui and Central❤️
-
4️⃣ Lan Fong Yuen or Kam Wah Cafe
There are many Hong Kong-style cafes, and you can't go wrong with a random pick, but these two are quite famous, try to avoid meal times, otherwise, you'll definitely have to queue up on the street😂
Highly recommend the egg tarts, pork chop rice, pineapple buns, pork chop buns😋 (Average cost 80-100HKD)
-
5️⃣ Hong Kong K11
This mall has suddenly become very popular recently, many people go there to check in, maybe because it looks good in photos🤔 I also went there specifically to take a look, and the photos do look good✔️ And it's also on the way to the Star Ferry we were going to take.
-
6️⃣ Hong Kong Palace Museum
This museum is near the West Kowloon high-speed rail station, just walk around and take pictures, and half a day will pass by! However, there's not much to eat here, you need to take the subway to go elsewhere for food!
-
7️⃣ Yau Tsim Mong
Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, Mong Kok, actually these three places are next to each other, if you're a walking tourist, you don't need to take the subway at all, just walk around and it's great, and there's a lot of street food and drink✔️
If you want affordability, just look for various tea restaurants and snack shops‼️
-
Hong Kong is still very suitable for Citywalk😍
Walking around and taking pictures is very nice❤️

Hong Kong / A walk of 30,000 steps
Winter in Hong Kong
I personally think it's the best season for citywalk, and it's not too hard to walk 30,000 steps
After walking many detours, I've summarized a sightseeing and shooting route that's really photogenic, everyone must remember it❗️
✅Hong Kong three-day tour itinerary:
✔️Day1: Arrive in Hong Kong➖Check into hotel➖Tsim Sha Tsui Pier Star Ferry➖Victoria Peak
✔️Day2: Kennedy Town Sai Ying Pun➖Mid-levels Escalator➖Gun Factory Street➖Central➖Causeway Bay➖Victoria Harbour➖Mong Kok
✔️Day3:Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station➖k11➖Chungking Mansions➖Avenue of Stars➖Harbour City➖Sunset at Beacon Hill
📷Hong Kong travel photo guide Shek Tong Tsui Hill Road
📍MTR Island Line University of Hong Kong B1 exit
▪️Suggest to shoot with a telephoto lens at sunset, it feels like the West Coast~
📍Beacon Hill
Get off at the 25 route 'Beacon Hill' bus stop, walk up from 'St. Joan of Arc Secondary School'
▪️A great place to watch the sunset, less crowded than Victoria Peak
📍Central Market
▪️350 meters straight from Central Station E exit, turn left into Central Market Mall
▪️You can shoot the yellow spiral staircase and the clock hanging on the staircase
📍West Kowloon Cultural Centre
▪️West Kowloon Museum Road, Hong Kong
▪️West Kowloon Cultural District is a great place to hang out on weekends, not many people, every shot is a scene from a Japanese manga
📍Victoria Harbour Group Photo
▪️Near Harbour City, opposite the Star Ferry Clock Tower, there's a glass staircase near the second floor viewing platform
▪️This is a great spot to check in with Victoria Harbour, no matter how many people are around, there are few people on the stairs
📍Kennedy Town
▪️Basketball court next to Kennedy Town MTR station, take the MTR to 'Kennedy Town' C exit, go up to the second floor on the left, inside the basketball court
▪️Be sure to shoot with a telephoto lens, suggest to shoot at sunset for a more beautiful scene
📍Gun Factory Street
▪️The overpass at the intersection of Gun Factory Street and Hennessy Road, 5min walk from MTR 'Admiralty' station
▪️You can take two classic photos here. One is a group photo of the tram and the building behind it, the other is a beautiful shot of the red taxi in Hong Kong running on the street
📍Ting Kau Bridge
▪️Tsuen Wan West MTR station b exit
▪️It's like a paradise in Hong Kong, secluded and almost no tourists, very beautiful
