The steam locomotives in the Omiya Railway Museum's collection are all heavyweight national treasures. The previously mentioned C57 135 is the last passenger steam locomotive of the Japan National Railways, known for its slender boiler and perfect proportions, earning it the nickname 'Lady.' After ending its service on the Muroran Main Line in Hokkaido in 1975, it was sent to the Tokyo Transportation Museum, where it lacked sufficient space. Now, the C57 135 has a new stage and regularly whistles and rotates, becoming a focal point for visitors. Various display cars are open for tours, and numerous simulation devices allow you to experience operating them firsthand. A serious visit typically takes half a day, while a quick tour requires at least two hours. If you haven't been, make sure to add this to your Tokyo itinerary—it's definitely worth the visit.
