Mou's Manor is located in Qixia City. It was once the residence of Mou Molin (also known as "Mou Erhei"), a large landlord in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, and his descendants. It is a typical landlord manor that is relatively well preserved in China. In this large landlord manor in northern China, you can explore this magnificent building complex, appreciate its exquisite and unique architectural craftsmanship, and feel the profound folk culture here. The Mou's Manor has a large scale of buildings, and there are many allusions about the architectural characteristics and customs and history. It is recommended to rent an Guide or hire a Guide at the tourist center to understand it more vividly. Mou's Manor was first built during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty. It was formed to its current scale in the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935). Now there are more than 480 halls and buildings. The manor has deep corridors and many courtyards. There are halls, pavilions, wing rooms and multiple courtyards. You can also see granaries, weaving workshops, brewing rooms, oil mills, and even private stages. Buildings such as private theaters can be seen, which shows the social status and economic strength of the Mou family at that time. The manor has unique architectural craftsmanship, exquisite carvings and chiseling, and has the characteristics of "three carvings", "six wonders" and "nine wonders", which are worth savoring. Among them, "the chimney stands outside the gable" is one of the wonders. Dozens of chimneys in the courtyard are supported by finely carved granite bars outside the gable (some stand outside the front wall), like small castles in the air, and they are smoke-free and fireproof. When you walk into the rooms, you may find that although the Mou family was once rich, the layout and decoration in the room do not look as high-end as imagined, but are full of the rich Jiaodong folk style. This may be related to the farming culture upheld by the Mou family. The "farming and reading career, diligence and thrift family style" on the main gate of the manor is a spiritual portrayal of the Mou family's indifference to fame and pursuit of tranquility. The characteristics of Qixia folk culture can be seen everywhere in Mou's Manor. Every year during the "May 1st" and "National Day" Golden Week, a "Folk Culture Tourism Festival" is held here. Activities such as flower cakes, paper cutting, throwing embroidered balls, weddings, and folk lantern shows can be seen, which vividly reproduce the folk culture life in Jiaodong area during the heyday of the Mou family.
