[2024 Kuala Lumpur Stay] Travel Guide for The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Autograph Collection (Updated Nov)
Stayed at the Hotel of Life in Malaysia!!!
Stayed at the Hotel of Life in Malaysia 1
Kuala Lumpur·Marriott Autograph Collection The Majestic Hotel
The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur can be considered the Peace Hotel of Kuala Lumpur. It opened in 1925 and was the most luxurious hotel in Kuala Lumpur during the colonial period. Recently, a high-rise building was constructed on the original site built in the early 20th century, so it is divided into new and old wings. It continues the luxurious colonial style of the 1900s while offering the convenience of a modern hotel.
The new wing is the Tower Wing, with room sizes of 40㎡ and equipped with bathtubs. The old wing is the original hotel site built in 1925, exuding a strong sense of luxurious old money. The hotel's colonial afternoon tea area, orchid conservatory, restaurant, and smoking room are all in the old wing. On the night of arrival, an Indian gentleman was guarding the door. Pushing open the old-fashioned cream-colored glass door and walking through the various areas of the old wing, with faint music flowing in the background, it felt like a time travel, instantly placing me in the South Seas 100 years ago. I immediately fell in love with this hotel.
I first stayed one night in the Tower Wing and then decisively upgraded to the Colonial Suite in the old wing. Every corner of the room, from the color of the wallpaper to the decorations and furniture, is filled with a retro South Seas style. The bathroom is very large and equipped with a vintage bathtub.
The buffet breakfast is on the first floor of the Tower Wing, with a rich variety. Malaysia is a place of ethnic fusion, so the food flavors are diverse, including Indian, Malay, Chinese, and Western cuisines. You can basically find all kinds of common Malaysian dishes such as curry rice, roti canai, nasi lemak with rendang beef. I personally like pandan products, so I love their pandan buns.
Features:
The security at the hotel entrance still wears uniforms from a hundred years ago, which is very eye-catching. The hotel also sells teddy bears in the same uniform style for 100 MYR each. The afternoon tea in the orchid conservatory is also a major feature and needs to be booked in advance.
But I think the Colonial Cafe area next door looks better and has more of the old South Seas style. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I didn't book afternoon tea there, which is a regret. In the evening, there are singers performing at the Colonial Cafe. If you order a drink, it's very relaxing.
Nearby, there is the National Museum, and next door is the old central station. A 5-minute walk takes you to the National Mosque. From the National Mosque, it takes about 20 minutes to walk to Independence Square and Mural Street.
Before checking in, I was a bit worried that the hotel has a long history and might not sleep well, but in fact, I slept very well, no need to worry.

The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur comes included with the original Hotel Majestic which has been documented as a national heritage site. This colonial structure was built in 1932 and became one of the great hotels of Kuala Lumpur in its time. An icon of Malaya’s boom years leading to World War II, the hotel came to be the place for glamorous social events, government receptions and the residence for prominent international visitors.
My stay there at the Junior Suite was a great and memorable one with a beautiful room which is a combination of contemporary and classic design, and super comfortable amenities!!!

The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur truly lives up to its reputation as a luxurious hotel with nearly a hundred years of history—the atmosphere is amazing!
After a week-long island vacation, I flew back to Kuala Lumpur from Langkawi~ Today marks the 15th hotel stay with my parents on this trip, at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, an Autograph Collection Hotel by Marriott. In the 1930s, The Majestic Hotel was one of the most luxurious hotels in all of Southeast Asia! For the 30 years before its reopening in 2012, this building served as the National Art Gallery.
Kuala Lumpur, as the hub for AirAsia and a diplomatic center in Southeast Asia, is brimming with five-star hotels that are incredibly affordable. If it's your first time here, you must stay at The Majestic Hotel, located opposite the old train station. Within walking distance, you can reach the National Mosque, the Islamic Arts Museum, Chinatown, and it's only 1 kilometer from the Central Station, 2 kilometers from Independence Square, and 3 kilometers from the Petronas Twin Towers—the location is unbeatable!
Besides its unique location, The Majestic is steeped in history~ The hotel was established in 1932 and was one of the best hotels during the British colonial period. Until before World War II, it was the go-to choice for government receptions and high-end social events. After surviving the war, the hotel was acquired and developed by the YTL Hotels Group, marked as a Classic style and managed by Marriott—listed under the Autograph Collection. The Majestic Hotel has two wings: the original Main Wing and the newer Tower Wing. The Tower Wing offers newer, more modern rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a new swimming pool, and a fitness center—all located in the Tower Wing~ However, if you want to experience the true century-old history, I still recommend staying in the old building, where the Colonial Suite and the Governor Suite are both excellent choices!

10-Day Malaysia Tour | Kuala Lumpur Edition: Accommodation, Afternoon Tea
🏨 The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Hotel Majestic
There are detailed videos about this hotel on YouTube. After watching them, I decided on this hotel and booked an extra night to rest for a day.
🍳🥞🧇
Buffet Breakfast
- Both Western and Chinese styles are available, mediocre, I personally don't think it's very tasty😂
- It's cheaper to book a room with breakfast included than to add breakfast separately at the hotel.
🫖🧁🍰
The Orchid Conservatory Afternoon Tea (Pictures 1-5)
The Orchid Conservatory
❗️We booked two weeks in advance, made a reservation through email with the hotel, and paid in full upfront, non-refundable (no walk-ins allowed, several guests were turned away while we were eating)
💰Average cost 139.2MYR (213RMB) per person
🫖First, choose the tea, two people can choose two types of tea
🥪🍰Then wait for the meal, the cold dishes of the day included scones (which I really liked), small cakes (all delicious), sandwiches (with smoked salmon filling, cucumber filling, and a yellow filling that wasn't tasty); the hot dishes were egg tarts and two types of pastries (savory), all tasted quite good, and the portions were generous! We couldn't finish and took the leftovers with us, enough for another meal
📷Great for taking photos
👍Only five tables of guests in the afternoon, with some distance between tables, offering good privacy
🧚The conservatory is temperature-controlled, the air conditioning is quite cool, it's advisable to bring a shawl or jacket

Stay Experience
I was attracted by the historical feel of the place,
A hotel left over from the British colonial period in Malaysia
😊
- The service attitude was very good
- The front desk check-in was handled by a Chinese-speaking staff, communication was smooth
They met my request and arranged a room with a great view
- During the stay, it coincided with a friend's birthday, and they sent a cake
- Daily cleaning was very thorough, disposable items were replenished daily
- Staff would open the door for you when getting in and out of cars at the lobby
- There is a shuttle bus to the train station
- The swimming pool has fixed opening hours, the gym is open 24h (with lemon water, mint candies, towels, earphones, and Bluetooth speakers provided)
- The hotel is divided into the tower wing and old wing, afternoon tea in all three areas is in the old wing, which is open for visits
🏠Eaton Residence (no picture)
We booked a homestay for one night for the rooftop infinity pool
- Self-check-in, key collected from the mailbox downstairs
- Go to the rooftop pool before 9 am, fewer people, good for taking photos
Just register your room number and personal information with the security
😊The building's staff management is OK
😊Luggage storage is available
💣Not clean, the bed sheets and covers had fine hairs
💣There were urine stains on the edge of the toilet seat
(BTW, I've stayed in similar hotel-managed homestays three times in Malaysia, and the bedding was not clean every time, very disappointing

A traditional stay of Kuala Lumpur
#timetotravel
Good locations at KL, very closed to KL central train station. Also the hotel has shuttle to the Railway station of KL central. And the hotel has very good sense of traditional culture. They give me an upgrade to a suite, looks so nice. Only the breakfast would not have too much choice, all goods here. And the swimming pool has a nice view of the new landmark of KL city. Nice stay here!

Hotel is located in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The building has a history of 100 years and has a British classical colonial style - The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Before Covid Pandemic, My partner and I have a short gateway to Malaysia, we stayed at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The Hotel is divided into two parts: the newly built tower wing and the historical building Wing. The Tower Wing is a novel hotel building, while the historical Wing is full of strong colonial classical style.
The colonial-style suite is located in the old building of the hotel, which is the historic Dahua Building. The layout of the room is one living room + one bedroom + one bathroom. The whole suite feels classic, elegant and beautiful.it also included club lounge treatment, where I could enjoy afternoon tea and happy hour in the lounge. Unlike other hotel executive lounges that take self-service meals, the afternoon tea and happy hour meals here are served exclusively by the service staff. Although the quantity is not large, the quality is very good. In the club lounge you enjoy, the food is of the best standard
There is also an orchid garden in the historic wing that provides meals, which is quite famous. If you still have stomach, it is worth a try. Breakfast is served in the buffet restaurant in the tower wing. There are many types and good quality, as well as freshly squeezed juice and freshly fried noodles.

Majestic Hotel Anniversary stay
Address: 5, Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, Tasik Perdana, 50000 Kuala Lumpur
How to get there : We grab from KLIA2, 65 rm, journey is about 1 hr 15 mins.
Room : We booked the base room and was upgraded to a junior suite. It was spacious with big sofa in living room. However, room was not ready when we check-in. Waited until 4 pm and there were missing bathrobes and towels. That bouquet of flower was our anniversary gift. Sweet.
Cons : The water pressure was weak and hot water was not hot enough. As a result, it took some time to fill up the tub and the water gets cold. Frustrating.
Price : $102 sgd per night
Rating : 3.3/5. There are many other hotels in Kuala Lumpur to try.

Beautiful hotel , modern colonial design and neo classic detail. Surrounding hotel is historic landmark, such as KTMB Building, Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, Asian International Arbitration Centre. It's best to walk in the morning, perfect place for picture spot, as the buildings creates a beautiful impression of colonial heritage.
The hotel has a several dining place, I had dinner at Contango, which served Asian food. Actually I want to try The Orchird Conservatory, but it was not fully operated at that time.
The lobby is very huge and beautify, swimming pool is on level four with a huge garden, facing the building of Asian International Arbitration Centre.
