Saipan: A Blend of Leisure, Nature, Culture, and History
In May, I spent five days in Saipan, a significant location during World War II, situated on the Pacific coast. The local culture is a mix of indigenous, Japanese, Korean, Southeast Asian, and American influences.
Recommended activities include:
- Renting a car to explore the island's coastal natural scenery
- Snorkeling in the Blue Grotto and engaging in beach water activities
- Relaxing and shopping in the city, or visiting museums to learn about historical sites
Before the pandemic, Saipan was bustling with casinos and mainly attracted tourists from mainland China. However, in 2024, Saipan has become more serene and simple, gradually reviving its tourism industry. You can still see World War II tanks, enjoy self-driving tours to explore various natural and marine ecosystems, watch ethnic performances, and savor international fusion cuisine. It's an offbeat yet unique travel experience worth considering.

Saipan: The Ultimate Diving Destination
When it comes to sunshine and beaches, Saipan is a popular choice alongside hotspots like Thailand or the Maldives. Located in the Western Pacific, Saipan enjoys a warm climate all year round, with a rich marine ecosystem surrounding the island. There are many luxury resorts, and it's a boon for those who love water activities. Saipan is also recognized as a diver's paradise globally, with excellent water visibility. The surrounding coral reefs, caverns, and deep-sea cliffs are a diver's dream, with the light blue 'Jesus rays' in the Blue Hole being a popular spot for divers to check in. Couples looking for a romantic getaway can enjoy snorkeling and parasailing on 'Lover's Island,' also known as Managaha Island, or take a leisurely walk on the white sandy beaches and admire the secret spots where the sunset unfolds.

A dream island you must visit in your lifetime! Saipan's appeal is just too strong
Ever since I found out that Saipan is visa-free, it has been tempting me. After a long wait for a vacation, I directly bought tickets and made arrangements.
Traveling directly from Guangzhou via Hong Kong, I could even enjoy a two-day tour in Hong Kong, and there are many things to buy at Hong Kong airport. This time, I bought sunscreen and swimsuits there, all set to go light!
I can't even imagine how romantic this summer + beach trip will be. I thought I was somewhat immune after visiting many beaches, but I was still stunned by the beauty of Saipan.
The azure sea is really beautiful, always ready for a blockbuster shot~ And there's so much to do, like diving, cave exploring, camping under the stars...
There are also unique island customs, a paradise for outdoor island lovers~ The prices are reasonable, there's less commercialization, just do your sunscreen and enjoy to the fullest.
Let me mention a few activities I personally think are worth experiencing: ★Star-gazing camping Saipan is completely free of light pollution, when night falls, and all is quiet, looking up at the countless stars is truly vast and brilliant, with a strong sense of mystery that makes your heart flutter no matter how many times you see it ★Blue Hole snorkeling + photo shoot The world's second-ranked cave diving spot, up close with the mystery and awe of the sea especially when the Tyndall effect occurs, the light penetrating the sea surface and shining in the water is really stunning, truly worthy of the legendary underwater Jesus light!
★Air triple play: skydiving, small plane piloting, helicopter sightseeing A different perspective of Saipan is another unique experience, one that you'll remember for a lifetime, so exciting it brought me to tears... In addition, you can try trekking Forbidden Island, run a marathon on the island, and experience the feeling of running from darkness to dawn. After such a journey, your perspective on life really opens up.
The hotel I chose was the Crown Holiday Hotel in the city, which is more cost-effective than in China, and some sea activities can be arranged at the hotel, like touching smiley fish and yacht sailing, just board the ship from the hotel's pier! The main selling point is convenience and value for money!
The variety of restaurants within walking distance around the hotel is also plentiful, no fear for the Chinese stomach when going abroad! This summer is all about going to Saipan!

Saipan Blue Hole, once named "World's No. 2 Dive Site" by the US "Diver" magazine, is located in the northeast corner of Saipan. It is a natural cave connected to the Pacific Ocean and a cave dive site.
The sea is shining like a cat's eye blue, and the breathtaking blue water and natural stalactites are beautiful. The blue hole inside and outside the environment looks like an open-mouthed dolphin. Inside is a huge stalactite hole. There are two natural swimming pools in the blue hole. The outer sea is connected through the submarine channel, and the light enters the hole from the outer sea through the water channel. The blue hole pool can reveal a light blue luster, which is quite beautiful. This thorough electro-optical blue is also the origin of the blue hole.
Remember to bring an underwater camera!
Transportation: From the city center Garaban, drive about 20 minutes to reach the blue hole
opening hours: all day
tickets: 175 yuan

Saipan's Blue Hole, the Grotto in the northeast corner of Saipan, is Saipan's most famous and difficult dive site, where you can often see the squatters practicing the water.
Starting to dive from the university, one of the dreams is to dive in the blue hole. But this time I looked at the shore at most. When I finished aow in April, I must find time to take it here.
