Urban pause with a view: afternoon at The Grand Steps, Lalaport BBCC
#summervacay #june2025 #jalanjalankl
Tucked within the vibrant heart of Bukit Bintang City Centre, The Grand Steps at Lalaport BBCC offer a surprisingly elegant spot to pause amidst the urban rhythm. Designed as both a public space and architectural feature, the tiered steps overlook the central plaza—perfect for people-watching, catching your breath, or simply letting the city swirl by beneath you.
I visited on a warm afternoon, when the light filtered down through the open roof structure, casting soft shadows across the steps. Locals and tourists alike lounged casually, sipping bubble tea or scrolling through their phones. But what really caught my attention was the rhythmic energy of the space—how it managed to feel both alive and tranquil.
Set against the clean lines and contemporary textures of Lalaport’s architecture, the steps create an atmosphere that’s both social and spacious. Whether you’re between shops, waiting for sunset, or just craving a moment of stillness in KL’s bustle, this spot delivers.

Junji Ito Horror House, Lalaport BBCC
What thoughts go into your mind as you you walk down a corridor lined with grotesque mannequins…. Or maybe when you find a young girl on a swing smiling creepily at you in a dark park…
Live actors, creepy artworks, and spooky special effects await in this immersive tribute to the horror manga artist..
Choose which hall in Junji Ito’s horror house you want to discover … or better still, both!!!
Hall A leads to the Ville of Vengeance, and Hall B leads to the Ville of Evil.… and personally Hall A is not for those who have a fear of the dark, like me!!! The first exhibit was enough to make me almost cry in terror , not from the ghosts but from the claustrophobic darkness…
Hall A, offers Junji Ito’s “Long Hair in the Attic”, “Library Vision”, “The Tunnel”, “Tomie: Photo”, and “Unendurable Labyrinth”….
Hall B, is not so bad but also creepy with “The Grooming Drain”, “Headless Statue”, “Soichi’s Beloved Pet”, “Hanging Balloon”, and “The Bully”…
We are required to hold on to a thick rope in a group of 6 to 8 people as we struggle to find our way through the dimly lit corridors and eerie rooms…. Red lighting dominates the dark rooms bringing to mind an otherworld realm and leaving you to wonder if anything sinister lurks in the corners..
Junji Ito’s works of art are brought to life and you will be transported into his uniquely bizarre world with Tomei and Soichi….
Malaysian fans should visit Junji Ito Horror House from now to 30th November and experience the terror…. Go through both the halls if you are brave enough or test your courage with just one of the halls!!!!
Both halls lead to Hall C, where you can find stunning artworks and interactive installations based on Ito’s three-volume “Uzumaki” series…. Here you can witness the limited drawings specially drawn by Mr. Junji Ito for the exhibition this time, savor the depiction of lines carefully, the flow of each plot story vividly on the paper, and peek into the creative world of Mr. Junji Ito!
