Kuala Lumpur and Penang 5-day itinerary
Kuala Lumpur + Penang 5-day itinerary is here!
We have 2.5 days in Kuala Lumpur and 1.5 days in Penang.
Kuala Lumpur itinerary
1. Highly recommend the hotel I stayed at, 121 Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur (right under the Petronas Towers, the hotel lobby exit is exactly where the photo in picture 1 was taken. For family trips, I recommend the suite! It's amazing, and it even has a washing machine. Deposit: 300 MYR)
2. Since we arrived at night, there is a convenience store and restaurant opposite the hotel. We ordered chicken leg with curry beef. Very delicious!! Also, the Petronas Towers turn off their lights at exactly 12 AM, so make sure to catch it in time.
Day 2: In the morning, we went to the restaurant in picture 3: search for 'Hai Di Lao' on the map, go to the one closest to KLCC. It's a Michelin restaurant. We ordered the mixed seafood noodles and fish head noodles. Personally, I found the fish head noodles had too strong of a rice wine flavor, but locals love it. I think the mixed seafood noodles are better (I'm from Guangxi).
4. After breakfast, we took a taxi to Batu Caves to learn about Hindu culture (there are lots of monkeys and pigeons). Our plan was to visit from top to bottom (Batu Caves to National Mosque (free), Jamek Mosque (free), Islamic Arts Museum (ticket 20 MYR, student ticket 10 MYR), Independence Square, all roughly in the same direction).
5. Then at 5 PM or earlier if you have time, go to Sungei Wang Plaza to buy tickets for the night sightseeing bus. We found the way at 7:30 PM, but the tickets were sold out. It was a pity because the night view is beautiful and not hot!
6. In the evening, you can also go shopping at malls like Bukit Bintang, KLCC, etc. Chanel lipstick 💄 208 MYR, spend 400-20 MYR, averaging less than 300 RMB per stick. I bought YSL 💄, even cheaper at 180 MYR, about 260 RMB per stick (best to pay with Alipay for the best exchange rate, 1:1.53).
Day 3: On the third day, we contacted a Chinese driver to take us to the airport and stopped by Putrajaya for a while to take photos. You can take photos of the Pink Mosque and see the Prime Minister's Office.
Penang itinerary:
1. The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Penang takes 1 hour. We arrived in Penang at night, dropped off our luggage, and went out to find food. We ate the dish in the picture, 'Fa Cai La La Pot,' very delicious! If you arrive earlier, you can try Nyonya cuisine, recommended by locals at BB.
2. Penang hotel recommendation! OZO Hotel, 400 MYR per night, the rooftop has a pool with a sea view, and it's close to the street! 166 Jalan Argyll, George Town. If you can afford it, stay at the George Hotel (the expensive one), very beautiful, and both hotels are close to each other.
Day 1: Early in the morning, we rented a motorcycle near the hotel, 35 MYR per day, deposit 100 MYR. You need to refill the fuel you use or let the owner deduct it from the deposit. Don't worry about fuel costs, 1L is only 2.5 MYR. After renting the motorcycle, we first went to the Peranakan Museum to rent costumes for photos, costume rental 108 MYR, ticket 25 MYR.
