Be captivated by the colorful hydrangeas
📍 Hydrangea Road, Sayama, Kushibuchi-cho, Komatsushima City
You can see hydrangeas at the Hydrangea Garden in Komatsushima City, Tokushima Prefecture!
Around the prefectural road Anan-Komatsushima Line,
there is a "Hydrangea Garden" in the rice fields that is open to the public by the people of the Sayama area of Kushibuchi-cho.
All the hydrangeas are really magnificent,
and I was captivated by the colorful hydrangeas.
I was also surprised at how many different kinds of hydrangeas there are.
The location is near Kushibuchi Hachiman Shrine.
Pink, blue, white... Beautiful hydrangeas of various colors were in full bloom.
I was able to see various kinds of hydrangeas up close.

You take off your shoes at the entrance and put on slippers before entering the store.
There are private rooms, which is great for families with children.
Orange Bis is a wonderful cafe that offers warm hospitality to its visitors with all its homemade dishes.
After the reopening,
new menu items were added,
and the fun of choosing has increased.

Shrines designated as intangible folk cultural properties
📍Tatee Hachiman Shrine
There used to be a pine tree here where Shizuka Gozen hung her clothes.
It died in the 1950s and no longer exists.
Shizuka Gozen was the famous concubine of Minamoto no Yoshitsune.
It is said that Shizuka visited here when Yoshitsune pursued the Heike clan.
The grounds are home to the rare Ise Izumo Shrine.
The "Tatee Gion Bayashi" handed down at the shrine is played on six instruments: a shamisen, a bell, a large and small drum, and a hand drum, and is said to have been passed down in the surrounding area since the Edo period about 400 years ago.
It is also designated as an intangible folk cultural property of Komatsushima City.
The "Fukizutsu Fireworks" are also designated as intangible folk cultural properties of Tokushima Prefecture as the Awa Fukizutsu Fireworks.
[Tokushima Prefecture/Komatsushima City] Unbelievable prices! We visited the market where locals gather

Komatsushima Minato Seafood Morning Market
On the second day in Tokushima, I woke up early and went to the seafood morning market!
I actually quite like morning markets😂♡♡
This is a morning market where anyone can easily go and buy seafood, and I was surprised at how cheap it was!
If I were to stay at a hotel with a kitchen, I would definitely buy some and cook it lol
The cats were also gathering, and it was a morning market with a peaceful atmosphere! lol
The items sell out gradually, so it's important to go as early as possible!

Tateji Temple
I experienced my first ever goma fire prayer at Tateji Temple, the 19th temple of the 88 Shikoku Pilgrimage
Goma fire prayer is a ritual in which a fire is lit on the goma altar, goma wood and offerings are thrown into it, and prayers are made to Fudo Myo-o and other deities in order to make wishes come true
When the goma fire started, the goma wood and offerings burned with a crackling sound along with the sutra? The fire gradually grew bigger, and the room was gradually covered in smoke from the goma fire, and I felt somehow purified 🥺←Vocabulary
It was a valuable experience, and I felt a sense of soberness.

[Tokushima Prefecture/Komatsushima City] A tour of a soy sauce factory where soy sauce is made with care
Tokushima Prefecture 🫧 Komatsushima City
Hama Shoyu Brewery
When I went on a trip to Tokushima, I stopped by Hama Shoyu Brewery, which has been making soy sauce using traditional methods since 1897.
They are particular about "aging" and still use "long-term aging traditional brewing" to make "serious soy sauce."
I was able to see the process of how they make the "real taste" that you can never get from short-term mass production!
It seems they also have a miso making experience!
Please call for a factory tour 📞

[Tokushima Prefecture/Komatsushima City] Shops you'll want to stop by on a relaxing retreat trip
Tokushima Prefecture 🫧 Komatsushima City
Kamotani Seisakusho
I came across this shop on my first trip to Komatsushima City,
and it's perfect for souvenirs
It's a coffee shop that stands alone in the middle of a rice field,
but it serves home-roasted, carefully selected coffee
You can sample all the coffee beans they sell!
You can also buy the ones you like as souvenirs
The drip packs are recommended because they are easy to take home!
The designs are cute, and they're all things you'll want to pick up.
After shopping, it's a good time to take out some tea and look at the rural scenery that spreads out before you

A panoramic ocean view spreads from the main hall of the attached restaurant and the accommodation rooms.

There are plenty of things to enjoy, such as beach-based activities such as fishing, beach sauna, and picnics, restaurant meals using local ingredients, in-room barbecues, and the TAKIBI LOUNGE where guests and staff can interact around a fire.

The happiest thing in 2024 is to visit Tokushima!
Miharashi Hill AISAI Plaza
Located in Tokushima Prefecture, Miharashi Hill AISAI Plaza is one of the largest direct-from-farm markets in Shikoku. The spacious interior features multiple sections, including a direct market area, a processed foods area, and a fresh fish area, where you can directly access delicious produce carefully grown by local farmers. The world's biggest tanuki lives in Tokushima😆
Did you know?
In Tokushima, there is a legend of a great war between raccoon dogs that took place in Awa Province (later Tokushima Prefecture) at the end of the Edo period called the Awa Tanuki War. 📗
The story of the raccoon dogs (the Awa Tanuki War) was the motif for the popular Studio Ghibli movie "Pom Poko." ☺️
Near this Tanuki Square is a place called Kanacho Shrine, which was built after "Awa Tanuki War" became a huge hit. ⛩️
A place you should definitely visit together with the Tanuki Square. ❣️
