"Your Name" Pilgrimage to Lake Suwa in Nagano Prefecture
Friends who have watched "Your Name" should be impressed by Lake Itomori, where Mitsuha's home is located. This lake has a prototype in reality, which is Lake Suwa in Suwa City, Nagano Prefecture.
The lake is very large, and surrounded by villages, towns and cities, looking down from above, it really feels like being in "Your Name". The best place to see all this is Tateishi Park on the mountain next to the lake. Standing on the platform of Tateishi Park, you can enjoy a very broad view. There is also a semicircular stepped platform in the park. Sitting on the mountain and looking at the beautiful scenery of the lake below and the traffic, it is a great place to rest and relax. If you are lucky in winter, you can even see snow-capped mountains in the distance.
At the foot of the mountain where Tateishi Park is located, there is a historic Teminaga Shrine. It is located between residential areas and schools and is very quiet. You can stop in and take a look when you pass by on your way up or down the mountain. In addition, not far from the shrine is the prototype of the substation that was blown up in "Your Name". If you are a player who visits the holy land, don't miss it.
Transportation: There are no buses to reach Tateishi Park, so you can only choose to walk, ride a bike or take a taxi. If you walk, it takes about 40 minutes (one way) from Kamisuwa Station to Tateishi Park. It will be relatively faster to go down the mountain, but there will be more forks in the road, so you need to take out your phone frequently to determine the direction.
Cycling can save you half the time of walking, but going uphill is a little more strenuous. You can rent a bicycle at the rental center next to the station.
