Cherry Blossoms, Wooden Houses, and the Aroma of Coffee: Experience the Slow Life at 77 Art Zone
If you think Taoyuan is just about the airport and shopping malls, then you probably haven't visited this hidden Japanese-style corner in the city — Taoyuan 77 Art Zone.
Originally a group of police dormitories during the Japanese occupation, it has now transformed into a cultural enclave that blends history, art, design, and the aroma of coffee. The entire row of preserved Japanese wooden buildings has been meticulously restored, retaining the traces of time while incorporating many innovative elements. The park is not large, but it's the kind of place perfect for a leisurely stroll, quiet photography, and a relaxed wander.
This time of year, you can still catch the tail end of the cherry blossoms. A few beautiful cherry trees, combined with wooden windows, tatami mats, Japanese eaves, and interwoven greenery, create a very soothing atmosphere. The whole area is well-maintained and perfect for taking photos and checking in.
