Shenzhen Kunpeng Trail is said to be 200 kilometers long, stretching from Fenghuang Mountain Feiyun Peak to Qiniang Mountain Dayan Peak! I personally prefer spots close to metro stations. This time, I plan to hike part of the seventh section, mainly to check-in at Tanglang Mountain Peak. Starting from Chaguang Station, walk 0.5 kilometers to the starting point at Zijianyuan (passing by a small shop for a quick bite), then follow the Ark Trail for 1.6 kilometers to Honghua Ridge (210m). Along the way, there are many lychee trees with signs warning not to pick them 😜! Continue for 3.8 kilometers to Jimu Pavilion Road, and 4.5 kilometers to Tanglang Mountain Peak Jimu Pavilion (432m) for a check-in. At 4.7 kilometers, reach Leshan Trail, bid farewell to the seventh section of Kunpeng Trail, turn right and descend about three to four thousand beautiful stone steps, then walk along the road to reach Shenyun Station at 7.8 kilometers.

Going here is easy since the entrance is only 10 minutes away from the nearest metro station; which is Line 7 Taoyuancun Station, exit A. We mostly used the stairs going up which helped us really reconnect with nature. We were still able to hear the birds chirping despite the Sunday morning crowd. It took us almost 2 hours hike up… yes 2 hours but keep in mind we had plenty of mini breaks as our group is composed of ages 1-50 years old 😅 Definitely a fun family(friendly) hike adventure! If you need motivation to get to the top, there’s a coffee bus that sells refreshments and snacks. Also, a stamping area to commemorate your achievements (just not that sure if it’s available everyday).

Recommended route: Navigate to Meilin Reservoir, there are subway stations around, take a rest and take some photos, go up the stairs to the end of the reservoir, enter the greenway, about two and a half hours to Changlingpi subway station. The scenery along the way is decent

The whole trip, we climbed 15km, with an elevation gain of 1089 meters, taking over 6 hours. Holding coffee up the mountain, trembling down the mountain. Apart from the physical exhaustion and the high challenge level for beginners, this 15km route really doesn't have too many problems. On the road, I was thinking, why did I fall in love with mountain climbing? Apart from going into the mountains, I don't know where else to go for freedom. On the mountain with no signal, finally can detox from internet addiction, it feels great to have no one disturbing.
