You can walk up the stairs (free) or buy a ticket and take the elevator to the observation deck (60 baht). This time I chose to take the elevator. The elevator has air conditioning and is very cool. After arriving at the observation deck, you can see Salami Beach to the right, and the old streets of Songkhla can be seen on the left. There is also a pagoda in the middle. Many Thais also come here to pray. If you come, try to avoid coming at noon as the sun is very hot. Tickets are return and though prices have increased it's still affordable. The lift tracks are covered so there's no view but the lift is air conditioned, which is a godsend in the killer heat (bring umbrellas). To find the royal pavilion, to the right side after the bell tower there's a downhill stairway flanked by gold dragons, walk down it to reach.
