Shuangliu District used to be Shuangliu County. In the second year of Yuan Shuo in the Western Han Dynasty (127 BC), Guangdu County was established. In the third year of Long Shuo in the Tang Dynasty (663), Guangdu County was re-established. The lake is named after the begonia, small and exquisite, and the garden is built according to the lake, hence the name 'Tanghu Park!
