[2024 Bali Stay] Travel Guide for Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana (Updated Dec)
Sanctuary in Bali
This most private of resorts is hidden in the beautiful undulating hills of Bali's culture-rich highlands, surrounded by thriving rice fields as far as the eye can reach. The old estate of Hendra Hadiprana - one of Indonesia's most recognized art collectors – has been restored into an exclusive hideaway with twenty distinct villas, each one uniquely exhibiting original Balinese artworks from his collection, just outside the artists' community of Ubud.
The resort's five-hectare rustic chic grounds provides an authentic setting for one of Bali's most dramatic shows, the Kecak dance, which takes place at the resort's own amphitheatre. The Spa, tucked at one edge of the seemingly unending rice fields, offers both solitude and rejuvenation to those seeking it.

A must-stay hotel in Ubud, Bali: Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana.
Of course, you can't miss Ubud when you come to Bali. People who have been to Ubud say that this is the soul of Bali. After all, the blue sea is everywhere, and exotic customs are really one in a million. Spectacular terraces are common in the world, but the coconut trees in the fields of Ubud and the majestic volcanic background make it unique! Three trips to Bali this year have made me discover another treasure hotel, Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana.
This quiet and private Ubud hotel is located in the highlands of Bali, which has a colorful culture, hidden among the lush and rolling mountains, and has a quiet world. In the five hectares of green rice fields, only more than 20 villas and suites are built, which is really luxurious. The bays of Bali and Ubud have long been performed by various hotels with thousands of tricks, but Tanah Gajah is still the most unique existence in Bali!
I stayed in a one-bedroom pool villa. The spacious indoor living space exudes authentic Balinese style, and the bathroom is equipped with double basins. The small pavilion is used as an outdoor dining space, which is great! The open-air deck and private balcony are so comfortable. The floating breakfast in the villa is an unmissable leisurely experience! There are also several beautiful rice fields in the hotel. The restaurant next to the rice field is the landmark of Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana. Don't miss it!

Bali Ubud Treasure Hotel - Tanah Gajah, VW Car local exploration tour is so cool!
Highly recommended by hotel enthusiasts, Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana is located in Ubud, covering an area of five hectares, with elegant landscape gardens and rolling rice fields. There are only 20 independent villas and suites in total. The whole hotel perfectly integrates traditional Balinese architectural style with modern atmosphere. The hotel was formerly a private residence, conceived and designed by Indonesia's outstanding architectural interior designer Hendra Hadiprana in the early 1980s. It was originally created as a quiet place for his family and friends to escape the hustle and bustle and relax on weekends. Each resort villa and suite is equipped with the owner's private collection of artworks, allowing you to experience the taste of an art connoisseur.
In addition to 24-hour butler service, the hotel also includes a large swimming pool, tennis court, and private open-air theater, where the famous Balinese dance performance is performed. The hotel can also book local exploration tours. We really like the VW Car's Ubud half-day tour. First, go to Tegallalang Rice Terrace for a coffee, swing, and take photos, then visit the beautiful spring temple Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu! It is said that the essence of Bali is in Ubud. When you come to Ubud, you must explore the local art and culture!

The floating breakfast at Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana in Ubud, Bali is amazing.
Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana in Ubud, Bali is a hidden gem. The resort was originally the private residence of Hendra Hadiprana, one of Indonesia's most respected art collectors. After being converted into a hotel, 20 secluded villas were specially built, each decorated with original Balinese art masterpieces from Hendra's private collection. Staying here, you can't help but feel a little more artistic.
Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana in Ubud, Bali has only 20 villas and suites built on 5 hectares of rice paddies, with each villa having an average of 2,500 square meters of "backyard." Such a large scale is hard to find anywhere else in Bali. The villas are equipped with state-of-the-art modern technology, including iPod docks, Bose entertainment systems, and flat-screen TVs, so you can easily enjoy a leisurely life. The open-air deck and private balcony extend the relaxing feeling of your trip, and the floating breakfast in the villa is an unmissable relaxing experience!
The hotel also has several beautiful rice paddies. The restaurant next to the rice paddies is a landmark of Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana in Ubud, Bali, and the most classic photos of the hotel are taken here. The endless rice paddies and lush tropical jungle scenery are unobstructed in front of every seat in the restaurant, making you almost forget the delicious food in front of you. After watching the wind blow the rice waves for a long time, you can jump into the pool and look up to see the majestic Mount Agung under the blue sky in the distance. It feels amazing!
