Last October I managed to get to one of the most northern capitals of EU - the capital of Estonia - Tallin. Even many years ago it was part of the Soviet Union nowadays the place is really different and beautiful. The architecture is amazing! It also offers good nightlife options.

Shaolin: Story of Gongfu
#chinatrip
Currently, the Shaolin Temple is protected by the state and is open to tourists. It is one of the most famous symbols of China and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
UNESCO recognized the ancient buildings of the monastery and its role in spreading Zen Buddhism and martial arts in Japan, Korea and many other countries as valuable for the history of mankind. Tourists from all over the world come to Shaolin Temple to watch a show of martial artists, admire the architecture of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1912) dynasties and see the Talin Pagoda Forest – the burial place of hundreds of monks.
Shaolin Temple is the most famous temple in China, it is rightfully called the "cradle of Zen Buddhism". The kind of Buddhism that originated in this historical place places special importance on both martial arts training and Zen meditation. This type of meditation, practiced in Japan, appeared here, in the Shaolin Monastery.
Shaolin monks had a great influence on the spread of Buddhism and martial arts in Korea and Japan. Much more than in China itself, where many styles of martial arts, religions and philosophies coexisted.
Shaolin was founded by an Indian named Bato. Around 495, with the support of the emperor, who approved his teachings, the construction of the legendary complex began.
Another Indian, known in China as Damo, arrived in the country around 526. It is known that in India he devoted a lot of time to Mahayana Buddhism. This type of Buddhist practice requires intensive training: physical exercises and martial arts, as well as teaching and meditation.
When Damo arrived at the Shaolin Temple, he criticized the monks for being weak and not proficient in any kind of martial arts. He was asked to leave the monastery. He is said to have retired and meditated in a cave for a while, after which he was accepted by other monks and the training began.

The Shaolin Temple Pagoda Forest, a World Cultural Heritage site, is located in the Shaolin Temple scenic area of Dengfeng City, Songshan Mountain
🌹 Tour Time: 1 hour 🌹 Ticket: Includes admission to the scenic area Transportation: Direct access to the scenic area by sightseeing car 🌹 The Shaolin Temple Pagoda Forest is situated 300 meters west of the Shaolin Temple monastery. With a long history that spans the Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing, Republic of China, and modern times, the entire area covers 20,000 square meters. It is the largest and most numerous ancient pagoda complex existing in China, embodying the pinnacle of ancient brick and stone architecture, sculpture, calligraphy, painting, and other arts. It is acclaimed by experts and scholars as an 'ancient pagoda art museum'. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit and was inscribed on the World Cultural Heritage list in 2010. 🌹 Upon arrival, one can see towering cypress trees and pagodas of various shapes and sizes—large and small, thick and thin, tall and short, and even those with lotus throne bases. Their diverse forms and orderly arrangement fully reflect the Buddhist status and prestige of the high monks who passed away. The high-ranking ones are the seven-story ancient pagodas that reflect the seven levels of a stupa in the sunlight, symbolizing boundless merit and benevolence. From a distance, they resemble a dense forest, earning them the name 'Pagoda Forest'. This site holds significant reference value for further understanding and researching the history of Shaolin Temple's high monks, Buddhism, and pagoda culture.

Henan | There are many types of pagodas, and the large ones are diverse, looking like a lush pagoda forest
❤Recommended reason:
The Pagoda Forest is one of the eight places and eleven historical building groups of the World Cultural Heritage in the middle of the earth in Dengfeng. It is located about 300 meters west of the Shaolin Temple's permanent residence, covering an area of more than 14,000 square meters. It is the burial place of monks from the Shaolin Temple throughout the ages.
👍Most recommended:
There are currently 248 pagodas from the Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing, and modern times. There are vase-shaped, square, parabolic, brick-built, and stone-carved ones. It can be said that it retains the characteristics of architecture from all dynasties and periods. Because there are many types of pagodas, they are of different sizes and diverse forms, looking like a lush forest, so they are called the Pagoda Forest.
If a monk builds a pagoda in the Pagoda Forest, the Shaolin Temple does not use public funds in principle. The funds come from his own heritage and the donations of his disciples, so the height and size represent his status, merit, number of disciples, and economic conditions during his lifetime.
🌟Highlights:
Shaolin martial arts are diverse and an important part of Chinese martial arts. Shaolin martial arts were developed on the basis of widely absorbing traditional Chinese martial arts. The technical system is complete and exquisite, and it is well-known at home and abroad. 'Chinese Kung Fu is the best in the world, and all Kung Fu comes from Shaolin', 'Hearing is not as good as seeing, and seeing is not as good as watching.'
