[2025 Yulong Attraction] Travel Guide for Taizi Guan (Updated Apr)

Getting There - Right from Baoshan Stone City, there is a hiking trail leading towards Taizi Guan. You can easily find this trail on different hiking apps including Two Steps. Following the trail, we hiked around wonderful terraced fields, passed some local villages that are barely visited by any tourist, and finally climbed over the ridge to find the incredible Taizi Guan (Princess Pass). The views along the way made us keep exclaiming ‘wow’. All along the way, you see Jinsha River flows calmly and peacefully below, like a beautiful ribbon in between the mountains. Take a bus from Lijiang Bus Station to Baoshan Town (about 4 hours, CNY 50), then hire a car to Stone City (about 1 hour, shared or private). 2. Self-driving: Navigate to "Baoshan Stone City" (3-4 hours). -Accommodation: Guesthouses within Stone City. -Visit Stone City, ancient irrigation channels and terraced fields; stroll through Stone City, photograph Naxi houses on cliffs and Jinsha River sunset. Day 2: Stone City → Yanshuang Village → Taizi Pass → Liuqing (core hiking section) -Hiking distance: about 12km, 6-8 hours (800m elevation change). 🌟Route Highlights: 1. Starting point: North gate of Stone City, following the east bank of Jinsha River northward, passing the "Blood Dripping for a Child" cliff inscription. 2. Taizi Pass trail: -Tiger's Mouth: Perfect photo spot. -Climb the Yuan Dynasty-carved "90m" and "30m" plank roads. -Summit views of Jinsha River's big bend and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. 3. Endpoint: Liuqing Village (stay in Lisu wooden houses, experience fire pit culture) or return to Stone City/Lijiang (arrange transport in advance). Day 3: Liuqing → Fengke Ferry (3 hours) → Cross Jinsha River by boat → Return to Lijiang by private/shared car (can be combined with Tiger Leaping Gorge trek) Essential Hiking Gear: 1. Clothing: Anti-slip hiking boots, windbreaker (windy in canyon), warm mid-layer, quick-dry clothes. 2. Equipment: Trekking poles, headlamp, gloves (for climbing), sunscreen, sunglasses. 3. Supplies: High-energy snacks, 2L+ water (no resupply points en route). 4. Others: First-aid kit, some cash, offline maps (recommend downloading tracks on "2bulu" APP). Important Notes: 1. This is a less popular hiking route, not suitable for beginners. The path is quite difficult to navigate due to the steep slopes and loose stones, but the scenery is quite nice. You follow along the banks of the Jinsha River, with 14 kilometers on the first day and a more relaxed 7 kilometers the next day. Overall, it's pretty good.
