At the end of the Qin Dynasty, Liu Bang was assigned by the county magistrate to escort a group of people to Lishan to build a mausoleum for Qin Shihuang. By the time they reached Mount Mangdang in Yongcheng, Shangqiu, most of the people had fled. Liu Bang just took advantage of the moonlight to hurry, but when he walked into the wild grass and wild path in front of Mount Mangdang, he suddenly encountered a large white snake blocking the road and laying down, and everyone was terrified. Liu Bang drew his sword and went forward, and cut the snake into two pieces. After the white snake was beheaded, blood flowed all over the ground, and then a patch of red grass grew where the snake was beheaded. The red grass here has remained unchanged for more than 2,000 years. After Liu Bang slashed the snake, he immediately raised his flag and rebelled. He recruited troops and horses in the area of Mount Mangdang. After several years of fighting, he finally established the Western Han Dynasty in 202 BC. When Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty, in order to commemorate Liu Bang's rebellion by beheading snakes here, a stele was erected and a temple was built at the place where the snake was beheaded. After thousands of years, the Stele Temple has been damaged and rebuilt several times. In addition to the historical legends about it, the attraction of Liu Bang's Serpent Stele is also due to the magical phantom presented by the stele body - whenever night falls, if the body of the stele is illuminated by lights, a warrior in silver armor will appear on the stele. Above the body, just like the reappearance of Liu Bang in those days, it is amazing and a wonder of the world.
