Swedish History Museum Historiska museet, a good place to learn about Swedish history and culture
#MarchGoodPlaces2025
There are many museums and art galleries in Stockholm, large and small, with more than a hundred of them. It is almost impossible to visit them all, but if you are interested in the history and culture of Northern Europe, it is recommended to visit the "Swedish History Museum Historiska museet".
The museum is located in the central district of Stockholm in a 20th-century building with three floors displaying the collection, which contains more than 10 million artifacts, including archaeological finds, historical objects and works of art.
The underground floor mainly displays gold and treasures, all of which were excavated from archaeological sites across Sweden; the first floor displays the history of the Viking Age and introduces the glorious past of the Scandinavian Peninsula, with guided tours and interactions in multiple languages, which is quite good.
The museum also has a cafe and restaurant. You can take a break when you are tired of visiting, or go to the garden in the atrium to bask in the sun and enjoy a leisurely Nordic afternoon.
