Rustic cafe in Sungai Kolok
Hope Cafe & Bar is about 1km from the immigration complex at Sungai Kolok. There are a few ways to get here ie. by car, motorbike or on foot.
We walked here in the hot sun (bring an⛱️!) because we weren’t familiar with riding bikes. There are no Grab cars or tuk tuks around so you may need to be rather fit to explore on foot.
The cafe’s ambiance has a bit of a blast from the past feel and we really loved what they did with the sewing machine that was our table.
They have a wide selection of drinks but not much food to choose from. They had about 5 types of cakes and even those were not on display. Many patrons came for drinks and it was rather bustling for a Friday afternoon.
Each drink is about THB60 and we were extremely satisfied with the service. I had the 🍓strawberry smoothie because I was just sooOoOoOo hot from the walk! My friends had the 🥥coconut with milk (not coconut milk) ice drink which they found to be really refreshing.
The barista and front of house speak English. They have an English menu but you’ll need to ask. You might be surprised to discover that they can speak Malay too!
If you are coming into Sungai Kolok by train, then this cafe is just a 2 minute walk away!

Sungai Kolok Narathiwat Thailand
Sungai Kolok is a border town in Narathiwat Thailand just north of the Malaysian border. Nearby town on the Malaysian side of the border is Rantau Panjang which is in the state of Kelantan
Sungai Kolok is popular among Malaysians for its shopping and infamous entertainment delights.
located at 173 Charoenkit Road, Soi 3. 15-storey fortress of vice, with an in-house massage joint and two raucous nightclubs. There’s a ballroom where diners are treated to a middle-aged crooner in Tammy Faye makeup butchering love songs.

The bridge under the royal patronage at Jae Bakong, Su-ngai Kolok📍
We came here because of this picture. The picture of King Rama IX working in 1981, which many people must have seen until they are familiar with it. Driving through small roads until reaching Ban Cho Bakong, Tambon Pu Yo, Amphoe Su-ngai Kolok, there is a pavilion with the history of this bridge to read.
The wooden bridge "Ban Cho Bakong" is the place of historical events on September 7, 1981, when His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great traveled to work in Su-ngai Kolok District without informing the local people in advance. He traveled to Ban Cho Bakong, which is a sub-village of Ban To Wa, Village No. 3, Tambon Pu Yo, Amphoe Su-ngai Kolok, Narathiwat Province. As soon as he heard the sound of the highway police car leading the procession, the villagers in that area ran out to welcome him. At that time, Uncle Prom or Mr. Prom Jinnabut, who was 47 years old at the time and has now passed away, was sitting to welcome him.
Nowadays, this bridge has become a historical tourist attraction. When you have the opportunity to travel to Su-ngai Kolok District, you must come to experience this wooden bridge and record your memories as souvenirs like us. 🙏
