Penang Landmark - The Penang Bridge of Malaysia
The Penang Bridge is located in the state of Penang, Malaysia, and is a famous landmark of the state. Spanning 13.5 kilometers, the bridge connects Penang Island with the province of Seberang Perai on the mainland. In Seberang Perai, the Penang Bridge links to the North-South Expressway, providing direct access to various towns along the west coast of the Malaysian peninsula, or to Thailand in the north and Singapore in the south. The Penang Bridge officially opened to traffic on September 14, 1985. With a length of 8320 meters, it is said to be the third longest bridge in the world.

The Penang Bridge Marathon is an annual event in Penang. In 1986, the race was known as the 'Bridge Run', starting from the Universiti Sains Malaysia, looping around the bridge and returning to the starting point, covering a total distance of 21 kilometers. It was not until the 1990s, when the Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Expressway was included in the route, that the event became a marathon.
