Luoyang Sui-Tang Grand Canal Museum.
Every time I visit a city, I love to check out the museums there. I have to say, the Luoyang Sui-Tang Grand Canal Museum really impressed me. The ultra-modern design perfectly explains the past and present of the Grand Canal, and the wisdom of the ancients is truly amazing. There are also many interactive exhibits in the museum that help children understand history and culture more quickly. I can't help but give it a thumbs up.

Grand Canal Museum: A Journey Through Time and Space
The Sui-Tang Grand Canal Museum is amazing! It's like a time tunnel that takes us back to the Sui and Tang dynasties. Looking at the ancient canal transport tools and imagining the scenes of our ancestors working hard on the canal fills me with respect!
The three-story exhibition hall has its own unique charm. The giant relief mural on the first floor vividly shows the excavation process of the Grand Canal. The cultural relics exhibition on the second floor shows us the huge impact of the Grand Canal on the economy and culture. The interactive experience exhibition area on the third floor allows us to experience the journey of a grain of rice.
Here, history is no longer boring text, but vivid scenes. You have to visit to feel the shock of the Sui-Tang Grand Canal Museum!

A Millennium of River Affection, Exploring the Sui and Tang Dynasties Grand Canal Cultural Museum
The Luoyang Sui and Tang Dynasties Grand Canal Cultural Museum is located at the heart of the Grand Canal from the Sui and Tang Dynasties—the confluence of the Luo River and the Chan River in Luoyang City. The venue adopts the design concept of 'Canal Origin·Sui-Tang Charm·Heluo Skill,' extracting the arch elements of the Grand Canal as the basic framework. Rows of arch structures support a magnificent building, as well as the historical memory and imagination space of canal culture.
The museum has a building area of 33,000 square meters. The first and second floors are the permanent exhibition 'National Prosperity—Sui and Tang Dynasties Grand Canal Culture Exhibition,' and the third floor is the interactive experience exhibition 'A Grain of Rice's Canal Transport Journey.' There are also temporary exhibition halls.

🔥Four Major Highlights
1⃣Museum Ceiling
Visible as soon as you enter the museum. Composed of 126,986 tri-colored ceramic units, it is currently the world's largest ceramic ceiling artwork.
2⃣Grand Canal Panorama Scroll
On the right side upon entering the museum. The relief work 'National Vein' is about 15 meters high, covering three walls, and is currently the largest relief work in China. It displays the overall appearance of the Sui and Tang Dynasties Grand Canal in the form of relief + LED.
3⃣Naked-eye 3D
On the third floor. A project that children love, similar to Disney's Soarin' Over Horizon. It uses somatosensory interaction technology. Standing at the bow of the ship, traveling through cities along the canal, reaching Luoyang's Should Heaven Gate, then heading north... The water beside is flowing, and those who get seasick really can't stand it,
4⃣Interactive Experience Exhibition Hall
On the third floor. Starting from the perspective of a grain of rice, an immersive interactive experience of the entire process from levy, transport, and finally reaching the eastern capital Luoyang.
🔥Three Treasures of the Museum
1⃣Canal Number One Ancient Shipwreck
On the second floor exhibition hall. The first ancient shipwreck discovered in the Luoyang area. It was a passenger and cargo transport ship from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
2⃣Canal Number Two Ancient Shipwreck
On the second floor exhibition hall. Initially inferred to be a civilian-made ship from the Qing dynasty, used for transporting grain and other items.
3⃣Tang Dynasty Tri-colored Heavenly King Statue
Located in the second floor exhibition hall. The statue is 1.26 meters tall, currently the largest tri-colored Heavenly King statue unearthed in the Luoyang area. It was a type of tomb-guarding deity from the Tang dynasty.

Luoyang Sui and Tang Dynasties Grand Canal Cultural Museum | A must-visit museum in Luoyang
Located at the intersection of the Luo River and the Chan River in Luoyang City, the heart of the Grand Canal from the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the museum's design concept is 'Canal Origin·Sui-Tang Charm·Heluo Skill', extracting the arch elements of bridges over the canal as the basic structure, with arches used almost everywhere from the roof to the window lattices. The Grand Canal of China is the longest-lasting, largest-scale, and most influential waterway transportation system in the world, an outstanding example of the ancient Chinese people's extraordinary wisdom and creativity, and the most important technological achievement of Eastern civilization before the Industrial Revolution.
The museum has three floors of space, with the first and second floors being the permanent exhibition 'Magnificent National Fate - The Culture of the Grand Canal from the Sui and Tang Dynasties', and the third floor being the interactive experience exhibition 'A Journey of Grain Transportation'.
🚢 The 'Magnificent National Fate' exhibition hall is a giant relief mural wall that displays the full view of the Grand Canal from the Sui and Tang Dynasties.
In the year 605, Emperor Yang of Sui ordered the excavation of the Tongji Canal, which took 5 years to complete, creating a grand canal that centered around Luoyang, stretching from Yuhang in the south to Zhuo County in the north, with a total length of over 2700 kilometers.
📌 Museum's Treasure
🔍 Canal No.1 Ancient Sunken Ship:
In September 2013, this 20-meter-long, over 3-meter-wide Ming-Qing dynasty sunken ship was discovered on the beach north of the Luo River and was named 'Luoyang Canal No.1'. The location of the sunken ship is the old course of the Grand Canal from the Sui and Tang Dynasties, which fully proves that the canal transportation system of Luoyang from the Han and Tang Dynasties has thrived for thousands of years.

Step into the Sui and Tang Dynasties Grand Canal Museum | Experience the charm of traditional culture
🏯Luoyang Sui and Tang Dynasties Grand Canal Culture Museum is located in Luoyang City, Henan Province. It is built on the basis of the national key cultural relics protection unit, the ancient architectural complex of Shanxi and Shaanxi Guild Hall on the north bank of the Luo River.

Among the many museums in Luoyang, the Sui and Tang Dynasties Grand Canal Cultural Museum, a local professional canal-themed museum that was completed and opened in May 2022, is a newly born museum.
👍Most recommended:
In 605 AD, Emperor Yang of Sui ordered the excavation of the Tongji Canal, which was centered in Luoyang, started from Yuhang (Hangzhou) in the south, and reached Zhuo County (Beijing) in the north, with a total length of more than 2,700 kilometers. The exhibition, with the historical timeline of the Grand Canal as the clue, fully displays the rise and fall story of the Sui and Tang Dynasties Grand Canal.
👍Most recommended:
The Grand Canal of a thousand years brings prosperity to all things. As the political and economic center of the Sui and Tang Dynasties, large granaries are mostly concentrated nearby. Hanjia Warehouse is a large royal granary of the Tang Dynasty, and the grain in the warehouse is transported through the Grand Canal, which is also known as the 'Grain Transport River'. As the center of the Sui and Tang Dynasties Grand Canal, various goods are gathered in Luoyang through the Grand Canal, promoting circulation.
