Sugong Pagoda, also known as Emin Pagoda, is an Islamic pagoda with a novel and unique shape. The exterior is made of gray-yellow bricks. Except for the top window lattice, basically no wood is used. The body of the pagoda is round and cylindrical, gradually shrinking from bottom to top. The diameter of the base is 10 meters, the diameter of the top is 2.8 meters, and the tower is 37 meters high. There are 14 windows around for ventilation and lighting. It is the largest ancient pagoda in Xinjiang. Sugong Pagoda was built in 1778 AD and has a history of more than 230 years. It was built by Emin Hezhuo, a famous general of the Qing Dynasty and the Prince of Turpan, in order to repay the favor of the Qing Dynasty, express his piety to Allah, and make his life's achievements famous for future generations. He spent 7,000 taels of silver to build it. In recent years, the pagoda has been listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit, and there are endless people visiting and worshiping here every year. The Sugong Pagoda Mosque adjacent to the Sugong Pagoda is one of the largest Islamic mosques in Xinjiang. It has a spacious interior and solemn and simple architecture, and can accommodate thousands of people for Namaz.
