While some of the buildings have been turned into colourful cafes, they still maintain their traditional charms. As we strolled along, we had the opportunity to observe and admire the unique architecture of a bygone era. Plentiful decorative lush green plants in pots in front of most shophouses add to the overall artistic feeling of this place. The old town is located near to the sea. There is even a harbour nearby. Ban Nakhon Nai Museum with free admission is also located in the vicinity. Nang Ngam Road has a history that it was originally called Kao Hong Road because in the past this road had only 9 houses. The museum is located in the back of the restaurant. It was originally the house of an old tycoon in Songkhla, but the owner of the old house sold it to the Duen Chai restaurant. The owner still saw the value and loved antiques, so he turned the house into a museum for visitors. There is no charge. In the museum, there are old architectures, paintings from the period, ancient cups and bowls, Sangkhalok bowls, both Chinese, Malayu, and Western.
