[2024 London Stay] Travel Guide for Strand Palace (Updated Nov)
London hotels | Solo travel.
| Solo travel. In the West End theater district of London, the main attractions such as the British Museum, National Gallery, and Big Ben are all within a 15-minute walk. I often stroll around and have checked in at Big Ben five times in different weather.
.
✨The hotel is located behind Covent Garden, a beautiful pedestrian street with a literary atmosphere. There are often street performers, food, coffee shops, beautiful small shops, and various brand stores🛍. There are many restaurants🍴, most of which are in this area.
Good food, good shopping, and good strolling! I wandered around this block on my last day. I also went to Soho and Chinatown, which are all big roads and crowded, far less quiet and beautiful than this one.
.
✨The hotel is opposite Tesco supermarket🛒, and there is a bus stop at the door. 🚆The subway station is a bit far away but it is about a five-minute walk. There are Charing Cross Station and Covent Garden Station (take the Piccadilly Line directly to Heathrow Airport). I hardly took the subway. The bus is clean and cheap. The subway seat is not good. Because it is in the absolute city center, it is quite safe.
It is very convenient to watch musicals in the theater district! Go straight out and you will reach the Thames. Walk around and you can see the London Eye and Big Ben!
.
✨Facilities: A building has nearly 800 rooms, opened in 1909, British style, refurbished in 20 years, quite gorgeous. Because I was traveling alone, I initially chose this hotel because it has single rooms, which are small, but absolutely enough. Even because of the small size, there is a sense of security. I put my suitcase against the door and put my clothes in the closet.
✨The bathroom is spacious, you need to bring your own slippers and toiletries, and there is a kettle (I brought a thermos cup to get hot water and instant noodles, I won't spend 20 yuan to buy water). There are many guests, mostly European and American faces, and you have to queue up for check-in. There are not many Chinese people, maybe Chinese people prefer chain hotels. Check-in is available at three o'clock, usually in advance, and a deposit of 25 pounds will be frozen in the card (I didn't understand it at first). There is an ATM in the lobby that can withdraw cash from UnionPay. I only saw UnionPay-supported machines at the airport, which was a surprise.
.
✨In addition, you can store your luggage for free! My plane was at night, and I checked out in the morning and stored it for a long time (some hotels charge 15 pounds). The staff is very enthusiastic, and they helped me with my luggage as soon as I entered the hotel. There is a gentlemanly old man at the door to welcome guests. The hotel has an environmental protection initiative. If you hang a sign on the door that you don't need to clean, you can get a 7-pound voucher, which can be used for hotel breakfast or coffee shop☕️ restaurant. Just tie the garbage and put it in the aisle, the cleaning staff will take it away, and you can also ask them for garbage bags. If you choose not to clean, they will stuff the coupon into the door. If you save two, you can add 4.5 pounds for breakfast. You can use up to two at a time. The breakfast is super rich and I highly recommend it! You can eat it as brunch, very British! The baked beans with tomatoes are absolutely amazing, you must experience it once.
.
✅Reservation: London hotels are super expensive! Living in a biased place is not safe and transportation is also expensive. The budget can't be saved at all, unless you rent a student apartment or a youth hostel. I booked it for 6 days at an average of 1k2. This location is already cost-effective.

Prime location in London! The Strand Palace Hotel offers a stunning city charm experience!
I highly recommend the Strand Palace Hotel! Its location is superb, very convenient for watching musicals, close to the Royal Opera House, The Lion King Theatre, and Mamma Mia Theatre. You can walk along the Thames River all the way to the Big Ben, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. Almost all the popular attractions such as Covent Garden, London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster Palace, Westminster Abbey, Tate Gallery, National Gallery, British Museum, etc., are within walking distance, making shopping and dining very convenient. The rooms are sufficiently equipped, very clean, and come with complete amenities including a kettle, black tea, coffee, and bottled water. The soundproofing in the rooms is also good, allowing for a comfortable sleep after a tiring day. I must mention the shower, the equipment is very new, and it's very convenient with one-touch water flow. The hotel staff are very enthusiastic, and I especially recommend booking breakfast! The variety is rich and delicious, and you can also store your luggage for free. Truly a pleasant accommodation experience!
