How a bout a stone forest?
#myhiddengems I’ve been to forests, jungles, tropical rainforests and then I found out about this place, a stone forest!
It’s a big park filled with natural stone formations that makes one wonder about the history, how it was formed as there aren’t any caves or oceans nearby. It’s listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The park is located a short drive outside of Kunming city and a have to visit for young and old if you’re in the area!
The park has a lot of walkways and a great picnic area. There are vendors selling snacks and soft drinks.

Stone Forest, The Wonder under the Heaven
Stone Forest, is known for its spectacular pinnacle karst topography with tree-like rocks rising up from the ground. Listed as Word Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007. The scenic spot covers an area of 350sq.km. Stone Forest can be divided into eight districts, and at present, open tour districts are Stone Forest Scenic Area, Naigu Stone Forest Scenic Area, Feilong Waterfall Forest Scenic Area and Chang Lake Forest Scenic Area. Among them, Stone Forest Scenic Area is core area of the whole scenic spot, and most famous attractions are located here, including Major Stone Forest, Minor Stone Forest, Bushao Hill, Lizi Yuanqing, and Eternal Mushroom.
There is a Romantic Legend to it, as the legend goes, Ashima, a beautiful girl of the Sani people (a branch of the Yi) was kidnapped by an evil landlord's son and forced into marriage. Her lover, Ahei, made every effort to save her. However on the way home, Ashima was swept away by a flood and turned into what is known as the Ashima Rock. You can find this rock in the Lesser Stone Forest. She is seen as a protector of the Sani people.
It is quite an interesting place to visit.

Stone Forest In Yunnan
#fallingforfall
My friends and I wanted to go somewhere to travel. Thus, we went to a travel agency in Singapore to look for some suggestions. The travel agent gave us some recommendations and we settled on Yunnan China.
We were very thrilled with our selection on Yunnan China. It is a place of many beautiful sceneries. Stone Forest (also known as Shilin) is one of them. Stone Forest is a set of limestone formations located in Shilin Yi Autonomous County, Yunnan Province. It has an area of 500 km². It was the fall season and thus we saw a number of trees with red leaves. It was a spectacular sight.

Labyrinthian Stone Forest in Shilin
Shilin Stone Forest was one of the most spectacular places i have visited in China. The park has a few different stops including a geological museum, a major and minor stone forest, and several viewpoints and flower gardens.
The major stone forest is quite a long walk through the maze like paths around the large stones, at some points there are valleys that go down 20m and back up, there are some stone formations that look like birds or the "1000 year old tortoise", and there are several ponds of water you can walk over. At some points the paths are quite narrow through the rocks or you have to duck down to avoid hitting your head. It was very cool throughout as the stones seem to dissipate the heat and protect you from the sun. Expect to be walking for at least 30 minutes if you want to see all of the paths, try not to get lost!

The Stone Forest (石林) near Kunming is a remarkable geological formation.
Aeons of sedementation, erosion and volcanic eruption have left sharp, jagged pillars of stone rather like trees, which rise singly and in groves over a large plain.
Whether looking down from above or walking through cave-like passages between the rocks, marvel at the alien landscape nature's forces have left.
I highly recommend bringing a picnic lunch, as there are no places to get food in or around the park aside from some expensive and unappetizing snacks. It's worth setting aside a whole day for Shilin, as the park is large and there are many different views.
We travelled to Shilin Town by bus and stayed in a local hotel, but the park could also be visited as a day trip from Kunming, especially if you have a car.

DAY 3 Stone Forest - Puzhehei (260km)
Today's main trip is the Shilin Scenic Spot in Yunnan. It is the first time I have come to Yunnan and the first time I am visiting visit Shilin Scenic Spot. Shilin is really stunning and worthy of being a world-class cultural heritage. It is much bigger than the stone forest I imagined. There is a battery car in the scenic spot, which is especially suitable for lazy people like me (the ticket is not expensive, the pass is only 25), and there are also special performances of the local Yi people in the scenic spot. The entire scenic spot was completed in about 3 hours. We came out to eat the local special food in Shilin County, and then drove directly to Puzhehei, and arrived in Qiubei County in 3 hours.
NIC..
2-hour high-speed train from Chengdu! An uninhabited "alien planet" secret spot.
There is such an alien planet hidden around Chengdu, with caves crisscrossing, sinkholes scattered, stone forests in various shapes, and majestic canyons... It feels like walking on an alien planet here...
⛰️Stone Sea
Walking in the "alien planet", a large number of strange stones stand on the lawn, suddenly sighing at the magic of nature, it is too suitable for taking pictures here. Walking through it, it feels like walking in the mysterious atmosphere of an alien planet movie! It's really photogenic
🕳️Sinkhole
It's really huge and shocking! The surrounding cliffs and forests are very shocking. Walk step by step into the entrance of the alien planet on the footpath...

Kunming · Shilin.
It's very comfortable to go during the off-season, there are many elderly tour groups.
If you want to take the shuttle bus into the scenic area, it's a good idea to hire a tour guide. There is a museum nearby, with many strange stones and wood. If you like, you can go and have a look. However, the staff there say it's a private museum, and many places require additional fees. The staff's attitude is not good.
Overall, it's still good. Finding angles with people and scenery together is also very photogenic.

Yunnan Stone Forest
Yunnan Stone Forest, or Shilin, is one of China’s most spectacular natural sites. Located in Yunnan province, about 90 km from Kunming city, the stone forest is famous for its unique and dramatic karst formations, resembling a forest of tall, pointed stones. The stone pillars here come in various shapes and sizes, some of which look like animals, humans, or mythological objects, depending on the visitor’s imagination. The stones are also surrounded by green forests, providing a beautiful contrast between the living and the dead. Yunnan Stone Forest has been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2007 as part of the vast South China karst region. This recognition reflects the geological and ecological significance of the area. Every year, the Yi people hold a Fire Festival in the Stone Forest, where they perform traditional dances, wrestling matches, and lively celebrations. It is an opportunity for tourists to experience the rich and unique local culture. Visitors can explore the stone forest via walking trails, climb the rock peaks for incredible views, or take a guided tour with a local guide to learn more about the area’s geological and cultural history. The Stone Forest can be reached from Kunming by bus or car, and usually takes about 2-3 hours. There are also various facilities for visitors such as restaurants, souvenir shops, and a tourist information center. Visiting the Yunnan Stone Forest is a unique experience, where natural beauty meets rich local cultural heritage. It is a highly recommended destination for nature lovers, geology lovers, and travelers looking for an adventure off the beaten track.

Stone Forest! You'll regret it if you don't come.
When you step into the Stone Forest in Kunming, Yunnan, it's like stepping into a dreamlike world. The towering stone pillars are like love letters from nature to the sky, telling the story of the vicissitudes of life over millions of years.
In the distant geological era, this was a vast ocean. Today, after long-term geological movements and weathering, the Stone Forest is presented to the world in all its glory. We humans are just fleeting travelers in the long river of time, while the Stone Forest has quietly witnessed the changes of the Earth, accumulating the memories of time.

🇨🇳 Travel hacks you need to know before going to Yunnan!
#travelhacks
Traveling to Yunnan, China, can be a transformative experience, with its dramatic landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant ethnic diversity. Here are some essential travel hacks to help you make the most of your trip to this enchanting region:
1. Best Time to Visit
Yunnan's climate varies widely due to its topography. For most travelers, the ideal time to visit is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These seasons offer mild weather and the least amount of rain, making it perfect for exploring Yunnan’s outdoor attractions like the Stone Forest, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and Dali’s Cangshan Mountains.
2. Packing Essentials
Due to the varied elevations, packing layers is crucial. Include light clothes for warmer days and a heavy jacket for cooler evenings, especially if you plan to visit higher altitude areas like Shangri-La or trek in the mountains. Don’t forget comfortable walking shoes, as Yunnan offers numerous hiking and walking opportunities.
3. Transportation Tips
Yunnan is large and its attractions are spread out, so plan your travel routes wisely. Renting a car can be costly and driving in China requires a Chinese driving license. Instead, make use of Yunnan’s extensive bus network or consider hiring a private driver for more remote areas, which is affordable and convenient for accessing less touristy spots.
4. Cultural Etiquette
Yunnan is home to several ethnic minorities, each with their own customs and traditions. Showing respect is crucial; always ask for permission before taking photos of people or entering sacred areas. Learning a few basic phrases in Mandarin or local languages can also enhance your interaction with the locals.
5. Stay Connected
While traveling in Yunnan, staying connected can be challenging in remote areas. Purchase a Chinese SIM card for better coverage and download offline maps and translation apps which can be lifesavers during your travels.
6. Food and Water Safety
Yunnan cuisine is diverse and flavorful, but be cautious with street food. Stick to busy stalls with high turnover, and always ensure that your food is cooked thoroughly. Drink bottled or boiled water to avoid stomach upsets.
By following these travel hacks, you'll be better prepared to explore Yunnan’s stunning landscapes and rich cultural tapestry, ensuring a memorable and smooth journey. 😉💛

Stone Forest in Kunming
#travellerwonderland
The Stone Forest (Shilin) in Kunming, Yunnan Province, is famous for its collection of limestone formations that resemble petrified trees of stone, as recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site. The formations, which cover around 500 square kilometers, were shaped over millions of years by wind and water erosion, resulting in intricate towers, spires, and caves.
The place is huge, there are so many places to see within this stone forest and lots of hidden places that is so beautiful and fascinating. The park itself is divided into several scenic views and sections. I spent a full day here, I saw the most important sites, and I skipped several spots as I needed to catch the shuttle bus and high-speed train back to Kunming City.
Inside this store park, there are so many clear signs, directions, and history of the park. My advice is to keep looking out for the signage and make sure you are following the right path, as some may lead you back to your original spot. Some major sections are the main areas where visitors can explore towering rock formations, some sections are remote sections with older formations, this area is quieter and less crowded.
The rock formation is impressive, some sections feature underground caves and rivers, and also lakes surrounded by the stone pillars, offering a peaceful atmosphere.
The local Sani people, a branch of the Yi ethnic minority, have lived in the area for centuries. They have rich traditions and legends, many connected to the Stone Forest. Visitors can see the local dance performance, which is very cheerful and lively. One famous legend is that of Ashima, a Sani girl who was turned into a stone after escaping forced marriage, and her figure can be seen in one of the rock formations.

Zhangjiajie Tourism is too strong! Listen to my real feelings!
🎈My friends! I just came back from Zhangjiajie, and I was really shocked by this trip. Zhangjiajie tourism is too strong! Now, the beautiful scenery there keeps popping up in my mind. Today, I'm going to share my five-day and four-night trip to Zhangjiajie with you. I hope you can also experience this shock. 💖
🌈Day 1: Full of anticipation, arriving in Zhangjiajie
👉As soon as I set foot on Zhangjiajie, I felt a different atmosphere. After checking into the hotel, I couldn't wait to go to the city center and experience the unique charm of this city. In the evening, I tasted the local cuisine. The rich flavor of the three-course pot made me fall in love with the local food culture instantly.
💖Day 2: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park - A magical journey to Yuanjiajie
👉In the morning, I embarked on my journey to Yuanjiajie with full anticipation and excitement. As I rode the eco-car on the winding mountain road, the scenery outside the window kept changing. Lush trees and rolling mountains, like a beautiful landscape painting unfolding before my eyes.
👉When the eco-car arrived at its destination, I couldn't wait to get off and was immediately shocked by the sight before me. Yuanjiajie is like a magical world created by nature, with strange peaks and rocks standing in all shapes and sizes. Some are like swords piercing the sky, some like giants standing tall, and some like fairies dancing. Each peak has its own unique charm and story.
👉Walking along the trail, I came to the filming location of Avatar's floating mountains. Standing on the viewing platform, the beautiful scenery before me made me feel like I had traveled to Pandora in the movie. The towering stone pillars, looming in the clouds, were like a dream. I couldn't help but marvel at the magic of nature, which could create such amazing scenery.
👉Walking further, I saw the world's first bridge. This naturally formed stone bridge spans two mountain peaks, with a bottomless canyon below, making people tremble with fear. Standing on the bridge, the wind blowing on my face, the distant mountains rolling, and the clouds drifting between the mountains, as if I were in a fairyland. I picked up my camera and kept pressing the shutter, wanting to capture this beautiful moment forever.
👉In every corner of Yuanjiajie, you can feel the magic and greatness of nature. Every plant and tree, every mountain and stone, is full of life and charm. I strolled through the mountains, breathing the fresh air, listening to the birds singing, and feeling the tranquility and beauty of nature. All this made me forget the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse myself in this magical world.
💖Day 3: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park - Yangjiajie and Golden Whip Creek
👉In the morning, I went to Yangjiajie. The magnificent Great Wall of China made me marvel at the magic of nature once again. Each peak is like a brave warrior, guarding this beautiful land.
👉In the afternoon, I strolled along Golden Whip Creek. The water was crystal clear, and the fish were swimming happily in the water. Walking along the creek, listening to the gurgling water, feeling the tranquility and beauty of nature. This place is like a paradise, making people forget all their troubles.
💖Day 4, I brought not only the enjoyment of beautiful scenery, but also a touch of the soul. If you are also longing for an unforgettable trip, then Zhangjiajie is definitely your best choice.
