Melbourne | The most beautiful library in the southern hemisphere
| The most beautiful library in the southern hemisphere.
I came to Melbourne for a trip, stayed in Melbourne for four days and three nights, of course, I have to check in at the most beautiful library in the southern hemisphere, the State Library of Victoria.
State Library Victoria is one of the largest libraries in the world and the oldest library in Australia. When you come to Melbourne, you must come here to check in, feel the strong learning atmosphere, and it is very suitable for taking pictures.
The library has a maximum of six floors, was established in 1854, officially opened in 1856, has more than 2 million books, and there are Chinese books, which is very good.
The most beautiful is the white dome and the octagonal reading room, which complement each other, 8 retro long wooden tables, each table has a green desk lamp, as if telling their stories.
The best check-in position is on the third or fifth floor, where you can take pictures of the entire circular dome, which is very symmetrical, and enjoy the wonderful reading time here.
🏠Address: 328 Swanston stree,Melbourne
🚗Transportation: Take the tram to Melbourne Central station, the library is opposite.
☑️Opening hours: Monday to Thursday: 10am-9pm Friday to Saturday: 10am-6pm, open on public holidays.
❤️Tickets: Free and open to the public, no need to make an appointment

State Library Victoria
Aesthetic, pretty, quiet, magnificent library. Indulge in a peace of mind where you can stay for the entire day. Reading on some books, chilling over netflix or just pop earphones in to finish up work/studies. More than enough seats as well! After a good productive day here there’s also a lot of food/restaurants nearby where you can dine and chill. #melbourne #victoria #Library

The majestic State Library of Victoria
The majestic State Library of Victoria in the heart of Melbourne is a must-visit for any bibliophile or architecture enthusiast. As one of the first sights that greeted me in the city, its imposing façade and domed roof demand attention. Venturing inside, I was amazed by the sheer scale of the place - over 2 million books spread across multiple floors open to the public. The highlight is undoubtedly the grand reading room, with its soaring ceilings and rows of long wooden tables under a glittering stained glass dome. It's easy to imagine the ghosts of scholars past hunched studiously over their work.
Yet the library also manages to blend 19th century grandeur with modern technology seamlessly. While preserving its heritage, there are now computers and wifi access scattered throughout for digital-age visitors. The addition of a children's garden and play area make it family-friendly too. Beyond the books, there are interesting temporary exhibitions to enjoy as well as the fascinating Cowen Gallery chronicling the library's history since it opened in 1854.
Don't miss experiencing one of Melbourne's top free attractions for yourself. Come armed with your camera to capture the beautiful architecture. Pick a table in the magnificent reading room, whispering almost feels forbidden! Wander through the shelves or get lost in the non-fiction depths. With knowledgeable staff, accessible resources, and inviting spaces, the State Library offers a little slice of bookish heaven in Victoria's capital.

State Library Victoria speed run photos
It is a nice and beautiful place to be and a must visit place if you ever come to Melbourne. It was on my Melbourne checklist, so one down. I heard that sometimes you got to see a proposal happen in there that gotta be fun to see 😄. My biggest regret after visiting is that I don't have enough time to savor all the surroundings or maybe just to sit down and read a book. I go there on my last day, and the time is cutting close for my flight. well, on the bright side, I still have more stuff I want to see in there.

🇦🇺Melbourne | Library + Gallery + Museum + Exhibition + Workshops and more…
The State Library Victoria is the best library that I’ve been to. The photogenic part (which is called the dome) is very special and eye catching and the building still fulfills its purpose as a library. There are many books and study spaces, as well as historical paintings. There are also occasional exhibitions. (When I was there, the one was about photography.) There is also an exhibition showcasing the history of books. I feel like the library is also promoting the history of reading as its social responsibility.
There are also workshops for example tote bag design for kids to join so do some homework on its schedule if you’re travelling with your children.
If you have a chance to be there, don’t just take a photo at the dome and leave. Have a walk inside and outside the building to enjoy the display, exhibition, artwork and architecture.

More Than Just A Library!
Getting There - Take a tram to Melbourne Central Station. Trams within the city are free!
Attractions - Hosting of historical artifacts (e.g original pages of the Quran)
This place was more interesting than I expected. I went in thinking it was just a library but it felt more like a museum instead. The curators of the library did a great job in collecting historical and impressive literature. Moreover, they’ve done a great job explaining how and why it is an impressive piece of literature to they layman. Besides that, the architecture and interior design of the place is simply marvellous and a joy to look at.

We got a free tour guide explaning the histories and details of the state library by following those students on an extracurricular tour. It was interesting though, but we found some of the students were bored and not paying attention.

Melbourne is the coastal city, the second largest city in the south of Australia, and a world-famous tourist city. Many people have set it as the first stop for travel in Australia. How to plan for the first trip to Melbourne?
Recommended itinerary:
D1 Victoria State Library - Melbourne Museum - Melbourne Aquarium - Eureka 88th Floor Observation Deck
D2 Sovereign Hill Gold Mine - Victoria Market
D3 Puffing Billy Steam Train - Penguin Island
D4 Melbourne - Great Ocean Road - Twelve Apostles
D5 Twelve disciples return to Melbourne - Melbourne Central Shopping Centre - Burke Street
play in Melbourne Can be divided into three lines: 1 urban line, 2 surrounding lines, 3 ocean routes.
The main points of the city line are: 1. Victoria Library, 2. Melbourne Museum 3. Victoria National Art Gallery 4. St. Paul's Cathedral
Nearby attractions not to be missed There are: 1. Sovereign Hill Gold Mine (formerly the original gold rush site), 2. Puffing Billy Steam Train (Australia's oldest steam train), 3 Penguin Island (see the world's smallest penguin homing)
The most important sights of the Great Ocean route are: 1. Geelong 2. Little Red Riding Hood 3. Gibson Stairs 4. Twelve Disciples 5. London Broken Bridge
Accommodation: Essentials of the downtown line In the CBD area of Melbourne, if you live in the Free Tram Zone, you can walk to the attractions basically, and the trams in the Free Zone are also free. Chinatown and Chinese restaurants are also near the Victoria market, and life is very convenient. Melbourne has many high-rise hotel apartments with kitchens that are perfect for families. However, it should be noted that hotels in Melbourne generally check in at 3 pm.
Gourmet:
1. If there is a kitchen available in the hotel, be sure to go to the Victoria Market to buy seafood and steak to go back! Premium Australian beef and prawns are great for simple cooking!
2. Melbourne has food from around the world. Whether you like Western food or have a Chinese stomach, you can find the right taste whether you want to eat pasta or Lanzhou noodles. Melbourne brunch is a must try!
3. The Yarra Valley near Melbourne is the oldest wine region in Victoria, so Australian wines are also worth tasting.
Automobile:
Australia is a Chinese driver's license. You can rent a car with the original driver's license and translation. Since Australia is the right rudder, contrary to the domestic market, and the Great Ocean Road will have some ups and downs and big bends, it is recommended to buy a full insurance without any compensation.

The Victoria State Library
STATE LIBRARY OF VICTORIA, where you can listen to the live symphony for free: Victoria State Library on Swanston Street, when you see a green building labeled RMIT When the object, the library is across the road, and the trams 16 and 96 have corresponding stations to stop, we walked from the hotel to stay 10 minutes away, very convenient. The library does not bring things in and out. It does not need to be registered. It is very quiet, so the speech should be very quiet, so as not to disturb the people who are studying hard. There is no pillar in the interior of the library like the auditorium. The roof is arched and looks like a palace. We visited on Sunday and just met the symphony performance on the spot. The melodious music echoed in the auditorium. It felt full of artistic atmosphere. We also took a photo with the conductor after the performance. There are oil paintings and statues and personalized prints on the 2-3 floor of the library, all of which can be visited free of charge. If you are interested, you can go and see. There is an elevator on the right hand side after entering the gate, where you can take the elevator to the highest floor, overlooking the full view of the auditorium, and taking a beautiful library photo!

It is said that if you want to know the history of a city, you can visit the museum; but if you want to understand the cultural heritage and humanistic feelings of a city, the most direct way is to go to its library.
The Victoria State Library is one of the ten most beautiful libraries in the world. It is one of the largest libraries in the world and is high in value. It has a long history and has been built in the same period as the University of Melbourne. It has been around for more than 160 years and is one of the oldest libraries in Australia, with a collection of over 2 million books.
As a public building built at the end of the 19th century, the architecture of the Victorian State Library combines ancient Greek architecture with a Renaissance style, with distinctive characteristics of the times, coupled with the constantly renovated houses and sculptures that form a unique Library complex.

One fine day in Melbourne
At last, one fine day Mr. howlet was seen to drive up to the Hall, and take in with him a large document. Still, one fine day they'll slit his belly up, by God they will! And one fine day, when the hollyhocks were in full bloom, he came back to Puddleby a rich man, to live in the little house with the big garden.
