Macao Museum of History and Fortress Armourial Gate by The Mount Fortress in central historic part of Macau.
The Macao Museum is located in the Mount Fortress, which was built by the Jesuits in the early 17th century. For a long time, the Fortress was the city's principal military defence structure where public access was restricted. In 1965 this Fortress was converted into the Meteorological Services and later opened to the public. Built on top of the Mount Hill, the Mount Fortress offers a panoramic view of the city. On its west is the Ruins of St. Paul's. On 15th July 2005, the Historic Centre of Macao was officially listed as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. The Mount Fortress and the Ruins of St. Paul's are significant historical monuments of the Centre.

Camoes Garden (Jardim Luís de Camões)

We really enjoyed our stop at the Camoes Garden and Grotto this past week. The Grotto area was decent and there were some interestingly patterned tiles leading into the heart of the garden area. However, what we really liked was the thick, flush green, rainforest like environment within the park. During the cooler months, this made a great break from the sun but did have us thinking about how hot and humid it must be here during the summer, probably not the best time in the world to visit.
In this area of Macau, just north of the Ruins of St. Paul, there are several additional attractions, all inclusions of the UNESCO World Heritage collection for the Historic City Centre of Macau. These include Casa Garden, the Old Protestant Cemetery and St. Anthony's Church. However, we enjoy the Camoes Garden, which is a non-UNESCO attraction best within this group. Collectively, you can visit all of these attractions comfortably in one hour. Then you can move down to the heavyweight attractions starting at the Ruins of St. Paul, approx 6-8 minute walk away.

The Whisper of Time: Traces of St. Anthony's Church
Walking through the alleys of Macau's old town, St. Anthony's Church quietly hides among the greenery, like a meditative elder whispering stories of the past. This church, one of the oldest Catholic churches in Macau, has witnessed the vicissitudes and prosperity of this land since its establishment in the 16th century.
The church's exterior walls are mainly off-white, and its simple design exudes a sense of historical weight. The stone steps in front of the door are somewhat worn, but these traces tell the story of countless believers who have prayed here. Inside the church, the space is not spacious, but it is filled with a sense of tranquility and solemnity. The wooden pews and simple altar decorations exude a classical elegance in their modesty.
The most touching feature is the statue of St. Anthony on the altar, with a kind face and open hands, as if welcoming every soul seeking comfort. Outside the window, the green shadows of trees and sunlight intertwine, adding a serene beauty to the church. Here, I feel the gentle flow of time, making me want to linger longer and savor this peaceful moment where history and faith intertwine.

The beauty of the Love River comes, and the elegant scholars gather.
"The Church of St. Anthony" is located in front of the Senado Square in Macau and is one of the oldest churches in Macau, built by the Jesuits in 1558. It has been destroyed by fire several times in history, and was rebuilt in 1875 to form its current appearance, with its exterior rebuilt in 1930. As St. Anthony is the patron saint of marriage in Catholicism, many Portuguese weddings were held here in the past, with believers dressed in white robes and holding flower branches, hence the popular name "Flower King Church" for this church. The front facade of the church is in neoclassical style, while the interior altar is in Baroque style.
